A kiss isn’t just a kiss … yells, “Action!” and Spencer presses his lips to hers in a kiss.
Behind Spencer’s Hollywood façade hides the secret pain no one suspects. He’s the first to take a risk except when it comes to his heart. He can’t deny he and Addison have chemistry―chemistry onscreen and off―and he’s tempted to lower his guard. She seems real, not like the women he usually meets.
Once Addison’s star rises, so do Spencer’s doubts. She’s no different than the others looking for the connection to catapult their careers. He won’t let another woman damage his heart. His decision made, Spencer wishes her success.
But it’s already too late. How does he heal this Addison shaped hole in his heart? Should he risk more heartbreak for another chance at love?

Love this author. Addison and Spencer are great characters and have awesome chemistry. This is a super sweet, clean romance with a really fun ending.
This story involves an understudy actress trying to make it in Hollywood. She is cast as an understudy to a famous actress, and is needed to take over the well-known actress’ character in a movie. Addison auditions and is awarded the part. She is cast with Hollywood’s most popular male lead, and romance develops, but neither wants to admit to their feelings. It’s a feel-good story with HEA. The story contains no annoying typos or grammatical errors, and is a joy to read. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and will keep it on my Kindle for reading again sometime. If you enjoy clean romances with HEAs, you’ll love this story.
What a great book! The characters are wonderful. I look forward to reading more books by Laura. I just loved reading this clean romance. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. I have received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it.
I absolutely love this book! I couldn’t put it down! One of Laura Hailey-McNeils best books! Great world development and shows the other side of fame and fortune. The characters made me laugh, cry, and smile with unrestrained happiness! A must read!
Call It Love by Laura Haley-McNeil
Beaumont Brides Series Book Three
Addison Duvall came to Hollywood two years ago to try and make it as an actress. She’s mostly an extra. And then came the day the lead actress didn’t show up. Trying to be professional around the hottest male actor around was not easy, but it changes Addison’s life.
Spencer Kingsley grew up in Hollywood royalty. His grandmother is Mirabelle La Maar Kingsley. At ninety, the woman is still a wonder. And she sees more than people think.
This story is mostly told from Addison’s POV. I really enjoyed this book, a definite page-turner. And I went through a few tissues while reading it as well…in a good way.

This story had such a romantic feel. You can feel the sparks and chemistry that Spencer and Addison had, even though they were in denial! All throughout the story, I got the warm, fuzzier – though it did have a few teary scenes.
Beautiful, terrific read!
Red Robin
In Call It Love, Mirabelle, a legendary actress who is the hero’s grandmother, is a force of nature. I love her and wish I had half her spunk. Addy and Spencer are also well drawn characters. This is a heartwarming story of a struggling actress and a wealthy, megastar who has been targeted too many times for his wealth and/or connections. Somehow Ms. McNeil has taken that tired old trope and turned it into a fun, sweet romance that kept me well entertained (even some laugh out loud moments). I was sad to reach the end.
I absolutely loved this book. Movie star heartthrob? Yes, please! It was a clean romance which is always the best. I loved that this wasn’t the typical, trite, on set, Cinderella romance. These characters were deep and I loved getting to know them all, especially Mirabelle. This book was phenomenal and it was unique. I loved the acting insights given and I cannot wait to read more from this author.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

The hero, Spencer Kinsley, is a famous actor who is part of a Hollywood dynasty. His parents and his grandparents were also famous actors.
On the other hand, Abigail Duvall comes from a non-acting family. However, in school she discovered that she is a natural actor. Therefore, she is in Hollywood, attempting to break into the movie business.
At the moment, she is an extra for the female lead on Spencer’s latest film. When the irresponsible lead, again, fails to show up for her shooting, they fire her. Abigail is then able to audition and get the role.
Spencer’s personality does not fit that of a young, rich movie star who has been raised in the lap of luxury. He is kind, gentle and cares about everyone on the set. Unfortunately, Spencer is often pursued by women who only date him in order to get leading roles in the movies. Therefore, as attracted as he is to Abigail, Spencer refuses to act on his feelings.
However, Abigail is a strong, independent woman who is used to doing things on her own. She has no intention of using Spencer or anyone else to help her get a part in a movie.
One way Laura Haley-McNeil makes this story very interesting is that she rarely reveals Spencer’s thoughts. Instead, she relies on his actions and his dialogue to illustrate them to the reader. Therefore, when the author does reveal Spencer’s feelings to the reader, she highlights and accentuates his thoughts.
This book contains modern characters who are involved in an old-fashioned love story.
This was a beautiful story of two people clearly in love but unable to clearly recognize it. Thank goodness there was a wise grandmother to help the couple. All three main characters were wonderful. I especially liked Addison Duvall, who realized fame and success were not what was really important to her. She wanted love, a husband, and a family. Those were more important than all the money and fame in the world.
I received an advance reader copy of this book. It is not one that I would have normally picked up to read. The book follows a struggling actress in hopes of making it big in Hollywood. I am not one who cares for the “gossip” and “drama” of Holllywood, but I really enjoyed this book. I was pleasantly surprised. Mrs. McNeil did a great job of expressing the emotions behind the face that you see on the movie screen.
Spencer is a famous actor who has a problem trusting others. Addison has heard all about not trusting anyone in Hollywood. Both seek to fulfill their dreams as well as find love.
Sweet book. Loved Spencer’s no-nonsense grandmother!

Addison Duval is a budding actress in Hollywood, living in near-poverty while she waits for that big break. In the meantime, she is a stand-in for Irene Wayne, the female lead, starring opposite Spencer Kingsley in a top budget spy film. When the director fires Irene, Addison fills in until a new actress can be hired to replace Irene. Addison is a professional but a kissing scene with Spencer Kingsley, the man of her dreams, may be more than she can handle. Spencer Kingsley is constantly pursued by actresses who want to use his fame and Hollywood contacts to further their careers. The young stand-in is probably no different but the innocent look in his eyes makes him want to hope differently.
I couldn’t put this book down once I started reading. Spencer’s grandmother, legendary Mirabelle La Marr Kingsley, reminds me of my own grandmother – doesn’t hold back. I received an advanced reader copy but my review is honest and voluntary. Grab this book. You won’t be sorry!
This was a great read. The characters were well developed and enjoyable. My favorite character is Spencer’s grandmother. She reminded me of a couple of people that I knew and enjoyed spending time with. Check it out. I received an ARC copy and was under no obligation to review it, but I really enjoyed it.
I recieved this book free and I am voluntarily doing a review. First off the title a d cover caught by eye quick, love it. The author has a great writing style. The love between the characters are wonderful and the storyline just ties it together perfectly
Addison Duvall hadn’t planned to try acting as a career until her high school drama teacher encouraged her. Now she has multiple waitress jobs and occassionally gets jobs as extras on movie sets. Being an extra on a Spencer Kingsley movie set is a dream come true, but when she suddenly finds herself as more than just a temporary stand-in for his leading lady Addison will find herself struggling to decipher the difference between what’s real and who is acting.
Spencer Kingsley’s career has taken off and he’s had far too many women attempt to use him to further their career. He thought Addison was different. When it seems she is just like all the others, even his sweet grandmother can’t make him see reason. But, did Spencer just turn his back on the one woman that could bring him the happiness he thought he’d never find?
These characters need to grow up and use their words, as we teach kindergartners. This author’s writing is quite confusing, considering this book is in a box set. Although the books are loosely connected their is little to no interaction between characters, even the familial ones. In fact, they are oddly neglected, especially where it seems pertinent to the story.
And where many authors will occassionally repeat information throughout a book this author did so to the detriment of the book and left this reader annoyed and feeling she thought us too ignorant to retain basic information.
In addition, she would add, especially in the 2nd book, way too many side situations that were barely glossed over leaving us wanting more information, while she droned on and on about unimportant repetative details.
A Hollywood Fairytale!
What a fun read! A famous leading man and an aspiring actress. These two characters have chemistry on and off screen. Learning to trust their own heart and each other takes time but the HEA ending is worth the wait!
This was such a fun story to read, and interesting to see inside the minds of Spencer, a young seasoned actor, and Addison, his starry-eyed co-star, who was getting her first big break in Hollywood. Both had insecurities, and despite their instant chemistry, they put up walls against being hurt. It’s a good thing they had a meddling grandma/matchmaker/actress legend named Mirabelle to keep pushing them to get together! She was such a wonderful character, and added so much to the story, which in my humble opinion, was well-written and had just the right amount of angst to keep me on the edge of my seat. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and recommend it highly. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author, and I will be looking forward to reading more from her in the future.
This was the wonderfully romantic love story of Addison and Spencer. I liked both of the main characters a great deal and I felt that the storyline was quite believable. The story flowed well and the secondary character of Spencer’s grandmother was an absolute gem! I hope there are going to be more books in this series. They are complete keepers to be reread and enjoyed again. The only thing I would have liked there to be would have been if the epilogue had been a little longer with more detail. But that is just my opinion because I am a total lover of long extended epilogues.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
