I can’t stand a BRO’. You know the type. Rich, hot, tan, full of himself.Well, I’ve got one under my skin and he’s driving me insane. The worst part is, he knows it.Clayton Westfield isn’t my friend or even just a classmate. He’s something even more annoying. My mother Dana works for the Westfield’s and we live in their house. Well, above the garage really.Clayton is just a few years older so … really.
Clayton is just a few years older so I’ve known him all my life. We even went to the same private school.
He’s rich, he’s loud, he’s a bully, he’s full of himself. He’s a bro’ in the worst sense of the word. And I can’t take my eyes off of him. He knows it too. He has a lot of fun posing for me by the pool, half naked or worse.
But the jokes on him because after freshman year of college, I finally grew up. Now it’s summer and he’s the one who can’t keep his eyes off of me. Turn about is fair play, doncha think?
This duet was previously released separately as Bro’ and A Bad Boy For Summer. Both books have been extensively expanded and rewritten. They are not available anywhere else.more
Part 1 – Clay and Nevada
A really sweet ending.
Clay ended up being pretty great.
In the beginning though…whoa, he was a piece of work. Nevada was the perfect example of clueless beauty. I enjoyed the story and hope I will see a bit more from them in Frannie’s story.
Rating 4 stars
Part 2 – Frannie and Jace
Whoa.
Jace was possessive and not scared to show it. He was perfect for Frannie.
I fell for them both so fast and loved their story.
I would recommend
Happy reading!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Two books in one.
The story’s are great.
Once I started I couldn’t stop. I devoured these books.
First u have Nevada and Clayton.
Nevada has always had a crush on Clayton but she has always been a late bloomer and watched him.
Clayton is a rich playboy, while Nevada is the helps daughter.
When they come back for the summer, Clayton can’t keep away from her anymore.
Some very steamy reading…
Second we have Frannie and Jace.
Their worlds collide when Frannie runs into car trouble.
Frannie is a rich girl living independently, she’s about to finish college.
Jace is a mechanic and a racer.
They are instantly captivated by each other, but Frannie doesn’t think it could be possible or that she is anyone’s type…
Two awesome books, great storylines. Steamy on all accounts.
California Nights
Amazing!! Made me breathless and wanting more and more!! Fully enjoyed. Very well written.
Recommend!!
California Nights is made up of all your hot fantasy dream men wrapped up in a big red bow!!! Absolutely LOVED this book with the extended version. When you have your classic hot bad boys and they bend to their knees, you can’t help fall in love with them. (No spoilers, sorry)
Joanna Blake is the absolute Queen of HEA. Any story she writes is an automatic 5 star MUST read!! Love these characters, their chemistry, storyline, and of course the HEA. I laughed, I got pissed, and of course my heart melted while reading this story. Doesn’t matter which side of the tracks you come from, dreams do come true!!
Pick this baby up today!! Page turning best seller that will have you hooked to Joanna Blake’s books and coming back for more.
Thank you Joanna, please keep them coming!!
I read California Nights really not knowing where it was going to take me. Going back toward my young college days wasn’t exactly where I expected to end up. Not that the reading was bad but it did slow me down just a tad. Only half a star Ms. Joanna. haha Clay is a young man sowing his most definate wild oats, that is until he lays his eyeballs back on Nevada, the girl from his “younger” days. Jace, a young man ready to find his better half, finds Frannie in the street with a broken down old car. Both fellas find out that love can happen when you’re least expecting it. Especially when it slaps you up-side the head and you finally realize how stupid two guys can get and how hard it can be to fight for that love.
I absolutely loved both of these books by Joanna Blake. Clay is rich and employs Nevada’s family. They both secretly want the other one, but don’t act on that until they are both in college. Twists and turns with both of their families makes a very interesting plot twist with this book!! Jace and Frannie’s book is HOT from the beginning!! Instant attraction, sexiness galore, dangerous street racing and spankings keep you interested in this book from start to finish. Loved this book set and consider it a must read for those who love super alpha males and virgins.
This book has all the feels, heat, steam, a little taboo all set in the rich parts of California.
Clay and Nevada have known each other for a long time but have been sorta friends until they come back for the summer and things heat for them and that leads to a whole lot of trouble. Will they be able to see past what is holding them back and find what they need in each other? Amazing read that will keep you turning page after page to see what happens.
Frannie and Jace to very opposite people. She is rich and almost done with college. He is a bad boy that likes to live on wild side. When they meet its like instant attraction but its never easy when you know what you want. Will they be able to put all things that should keep them apart to the side or will they keep it in between?
Both these books will leave you breathless and wanting more and more. Amazing reads and I can’t wait to read more buy her
Two great stories for the price of one. Clay and Nevada’s story is about young love. Clay comes from a wealthy family while Nevada’s mom is the help for the family. Clay knows he can get every girl he wants, but when he sees Nevada, he goes after her. Will Clay convince Nevada to take a chance on him, or will she turn him down? Great story with plenty of drama. These characters will have to fight for their happily ever after. In the second book, we meet Frannie and Jace. Frannie is a curvy girl who was messed with because of her weight when she was in school, and Jace is a hard-working man who soon enough realizes how amazing Frannie is. Great books by a great author.
Oh how I love a bad boy who pursues the good girl! Clay has never had a problem getting girls. Not to mention he knows that the girl he has known for years has a crush on him. The daughter of one of his dad’s employees, she lived above the garage on his estate. Nevada was two years younger than him and shy and so she tried to avoid him. When they both come home from college for the summer, he doesn’t recognize her. She finally grew up and now he wants her in the worst way. Can he convince her to take a chance on the baddest boy of them all?
Frannie has never been the pretty girl. Heavier than all the other girls, she hid behind her books and spent her time in the greenhouse. Her only friend Nevada has found her happy ever after and Frannie is over the moon for her. When her car breaks down, the most handsome tow truck driver comes to her rescue. Jace has never wanted a girlfriend but after meeting Frannie, it is all he can think about. Can a boy from the wrong side of the tracks get the rich girl to fall for him?
This duet was absolutely jam-packed full of feels. Clay and Nevada’s story doesn’t run at all smooth. Clay has played the field and didn’t think past the next good time, burying his fears beneath booze and women. When he realizes how much he wants, no needs Nevada, he doesn’t know how to deal. Things get bad and then worse and I was a wreck by the time they got their happily ever after. Joanna Blake really has a knack for pulling you into the heart of her characters so that you feel what they do. Luckily, things were a bit lighter for Nevada’s best friend Frannie. She meets Jace and can’t trust that he is really into her. Jace can’t understand his feelings but he keeps following them because Frannie is too important to him. I adored these two, their tale made me so happy! If you are looking for an emotional romance with tons of steam, you need to get California NIghts!
Fantastic duet! Loved the characters! They will pull at your heart strings. Fast paced and great way to spend the evening with this book. A recommended read! Check it out! So worth it!I am voluntarily leaving my review after reading an advance reader copy of the book from the author.
This author is fast becoming my go to author for steamy insta-love stories. This duet does not disappoint. Clay and Nevada have known each other for years but Clay was too much of a player to see what was right in front of him. Frannie, Nevada’s friend, and Jace meet when her car breaks down. The stories are cute and fun to read.
Thank you for the privilege of reading this book! Well done
Who doesn’t love Two books in One?
The first is Clay and Nevada. They come from different standings in life but that doesn’t mean they’re not right for each other. They’ve had crushes for years can they make it into more?
The second book is Jace and Frannie! I absolutely adored this part of the story! Who doesn’t love a sweet and sexy mechanic? The first time he sees her he wants her but she’s not used to that.
Overall this was a fun read about two best friends and their roads to finding themselves and possibly love. I definitely recommend!
This book was a delight to read. Didn’t matter what financial class either character was. They fell in love and that is was matters. they saw what was inside each other and the hell with what they looked like or what others said. Would recommend this book to anyone who asked.
This is a duet of Bro’ and Bad Boy for the Summer, both books were previously released, but the author did a great rewrite and expanded them and then re-released them here in California Nights. I really enjoyed the new editions, even though I’m not normally a fan of New Adult Romance.
Clay & Nevada was a little more YA and didn’t grab me as much as I would have liked, but still hot and enjoyable.
Jace & Frannie was a bit more my style, a little older and more mature approach, still steaming hot and Jace is just a total alpha with a protective streak a mile wide. Yum!!
I wonder if Flannery & Becky will get their own book, or if their story is going to be left to our imaginations.
Either way, I can’t wait to see what this author gives us next!
One of the great things about this book is that you get 2 stories in one, best friends Nevada & Frannie. The first book is about Clay & Nevada. Clay is your typical rich boy, great at sports & school, good looking, so he gets all the ladies. For some reason, I couldn’t connect with him. Which is weird because I don’t think there is a Joanna Blake guy that didn’t become my instant book boyfriend! Nevada is your typical poor girl whose mom works for Clays dad. They kind of grow up together & she has always had a crush on him & Clay has had a thing for her. She’s a late bloomer & comes home from college & blows Clay away. This was an enjoyable read.
The 2nd book was about Jace & Frannie and I loved it!! Jace works on cars & races at night. Frannie might have grown up rich but her parents left the raising of her up to her grandmother & then servants. She was teased in school & the only affection she received was from her grandma, Nevada, & Nevada’s mom. Frannie has tried to make her own way & not use her parents money. She’s finishing school when she meets Jace because her car broke down. There is instant heat & attraction but Frannie doesn’t quite believe it because she’s never received make attention. This was a great story & Jace was an awesome alpha, sexy guy that I expect from Joanna Blake.
What’s even better is there will be a 3rd book with Jace’s uncle, Flannery, & Frannie’s roommate, Becky, can’t wait!
I thoroughly enjoyed this duet of books. It features two seperate stories that feature characters that crossover between books. The first book is Bro’. It is a YA romance and brings us Nevada and Clay’s story. I will say that I had some reservations about Clay at the beginning of the book and he does make some mistakes along the way, but in the end he won me over. I liked Nevada a lot. Spunky, and very kind, she was very relatable and genuine. Together they made a very steamy pair that had quite a lot to overcome along the way. Expect drama, tension, emotional turmoil, angst and a twist or two to spice up this read. In the second book, A Bad Boy For Summer, you get Frannie and Jace’s story. This book takes place a couple years after Bro’. I thought that Frannie was a sweetheart. To me she was super relatable. A curvy girl that has grown into her curves, yet still struggles with how she and everyone else sees her and must deal with the echo of cruel words that still linger in her mind to make her feel bad about herself. Jace is a bad boy with a good heart. Their story offers up a touch of drama along with plenty of steam and sweetness but I honestly thought this book was really all about the emotions. This is my freely posted, frank review.
Nev and Clay. Frannie and Jace. Both stories were wonderfully written and full of confusion, heartache, romance and most of all LOVE. Pulled at my heart and made it impossible to put down.
I was laughing and crying with nev and frannie like why would anyone ever treat them that way!! But the love they find is beautiful and the boys hot!!!!!
This is a duet of two best friends’ stories. What I liked is that it included Nevada & Clay in Frannie & Jack’s story. I always love when they are intermingled. Very well written.
Nevada & Clay: This story was a good read. Nevada, the daughter of a servant of the house, and Clay, the rich son. The attraction was like a magnet between them. There is a twist in this story that surprised me, and I’m sure it will surprise you, too.
Frannie & Jack: This story is also a good read. Frannie, the rich daughter determined to be on her own. Jack, the mechanic and racer of cars. He was enchanted with her from the first moment he saw her. She couldn’t believe it to be true. She goes through a number of things, even though he is determined to end up with her.
This book consists of 2 stories.
The chapters do not end, so when you look at the beginning of the book, it appears like you are reading one long story. (Unless this has been changed.) I thought this was odd. Doesn’t take away from either story though.
First me meet Nevada and Clay. Sweet couple, but high school reads are no longer my thing. Then they are in college, but still young. Still not my preferred type of book. But it did get pretty good with a twist I didn’t see coming.
Next is Frannie and Jace’s story. I enjoyed this couple more then the first couple. They seemed more real to me.
Overall, pretty good stories!
