California Moon by S.I. Hayes is a wonderful story that I have had the privilege to read. This is book number one in this wonderful start to a brand new series written by a brand new author for me to read. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about shifters, fantasy, contemporary and paranormal romance.

Expecting the usual shifter novel, I was surprised with this one. The book is set in a future western like America. The MC has a lot of things happen to her before the book starts that set her on her path to California. I really liked all the characters. The end has a twist to it. I really enjoyed the book and would recommend it.

I had no idea what to expect when I started reading California Moon but wasn’t let down with this one. I loved the western, paranormal, and dystopian feels I got while I went on this journey. I loved Danielle aka Danny she’s a tough, strong woman who had lost a lot but then she also found more than she could have expected. I absolutely recommend this book!

Danielle was raised by her mother and father. Her father treated her as the son he never had. At 16, she married the love of her life. Later, he was a Bounty Hunter and was killed on one of his missions, so she took over. For two years, she gained a hard-earned reputation and as a man. She was after a certain group of men who killed her parents one month after her husband was killed. She cornered one of the big ones, he changed and bit her. Another man, J.D. found her horse and helped her out. During their travels together, they met a woman named Violet and shared her. He still believed she was a him. As days passed, J.D. knew she was a werewolf, as he is. Once they cleared the air about that, they ended up in Los Angeles and parted ways. Violet had a little surprise on the way~ Through a series of events, Danny found other weres, is now an Alpha, and still looks for the bad pack. J.D. and Violet find her again. As a pack, they go after all the bad guys, which is an adventure all its own! Then comes the aftermath, some die while others go on~ Life at the ranch will bring huge changes for everyone~ Is this the end or beginning for them?
