A READERS’ FAVORITE WINNER, SILVER MEDAL SIZZLE CATEGORY
Calen is a good man from a bad family. He’s worked hard for success, but something’s missing…or rather, someone.
Calen is the son of an Irish mobster, but he’s rejected his legacy and has made a name for himself as a club owner. After years of hard work, he has the life he’s always wanted. Almost.
Then his father asks him to take a … wanted. Almost.
Then his father asks him to take a meeting with a rival crew. It’s too important to say no. Reluctantly, he drives out to the middle of nowhere to meet them. There to negotiate for reparations, he sees an innocent girl being held against her will—someone who looks very familiar.
Unwilling to leave the girl to a fate worse than death, he demands she be included as part of the deal. Maia is forced to stay with Calen for her safety, but she soon finds out he has ulterior motives for protecting her.
*** Calen’s Captive is the second book in the Singular Obsession Series. No cliffhangers and no serials. Each novel stands alone. Though it flirts with some bondage, Calen’s Captive is not a BDSM title. Not suitable for readers under 18. ***

This is the second book in A Singular Obsession Series. Calen and Maia’s story is great. Calen is possessive, protective, and powerful. Maia is a strong woman. They share a sizzling chemistry. The storyline is fast-paced, and suspenseful, filled with danger and twists and turns. Avie Paige did a good job with the narration. Looking forward to listen to the next book in the Series, Stolen Angel. #AudiobookObsession
Calen’s Captive by Lucy Leroux is a dark erotic romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Avie Paige. This is the second book in the Singular Obsession series and can be read as a standalone.
The book does come with a caution “Though it flirts with some bondage, Calen’s Captive is not a BDSM title. Not suitable for readers under 18.”
This is the first book of Lucy’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Calen and Maia. Their relationship started off a bit messed up but you couldn’t help but root for them.
Avie did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of her work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like dark romance, erotic romances, or romantic suspense.

Calen’s Captive
A Singular Obsession, Book 2
By: Lucy Leroux
Narrated by: Avie Paige
These singular obsession books are easy to obsess over! This second book in the series had be hooked and I had to see what was going to happen. Lucy Leroux weaves a tale of Calen’s fascination of Maia. He sees her briefly in his club, and then in a precarious situation. After negotiating her release to him, he decides he is going to keep her. But will she want to stay? At first I thought I was going to be listening to another story of Stockholm syndrome, but this book is anything but that. Leroux has us sucked in to Calen’s life so much, feeling his love that we fall for him, hook, line and sinker. Maia is far from infatuated though. She has a mind of her own, and their relationship evolves over time. It’s steamy and passionate and I can see how easily they become obsessed!
Avie Paige brings it all out with her fantastic narration. It’s spot on in every aspect. She has voices that are easily distinguishable with every emotion. And when the suspense is high, she adds that extra feeling so we know there is danger. I loved it!

This is probably the most unconventional way I’ve ever seen the main characters of a book come together. It certainly turns the whole arranged marriage theme on its head. The time spent getting to know Calen and Maia was maybe more than was necessary but it was still compelling reading. I laughed so hard at Maia’s reactions to the normalcy of Calen’s every-day life. I hope in the future there will be stories about Liam and Trick as well because the supporting cast were almost as much fun as our hero and heroine.
I received a complimentary copy of this book.
I really enjoyed the first book of this series but this one fell a little flat for me. I felt like Calen was super controlling. He kept calling Maia his property which rubbed me the wrong way. Maia was okay but I wish she would have stood up to him more. She let him make ALL the decisions without so much as a peep. When he said he wanted a baby and she had some major reservations she didn’t say a word. Wtf
It was almost insta love with Calen when he saw Maia and I couldn’t tell if he was truly in love with her or if he just loved that she looked like a fairy….
The beginning was a little weird to me as well, he went from getting a blow job under a table to fast forwarding 3 months later to seeing Maia in the arms of the Russians and low in behold he had seen her previously at his club….it felt like a forced hop from one thing to another?
Overall, the book wasn’t terrible…there was just some things that I did not care for.
Calen’s Captive (a singular obsession, book 2) is my favourite book in this series. I absolutely love Calen and Maia is so adorable. Listening to this audio on repeat as I could listen to Calen’s character all day long. Mafia romance with suspense seeping through the pages. Calen & Maia were perfect together and my favourite couple in this series. The writing style is captivating & the narrative is intoxicating.
Narator Avie Page’s performance was smooth. Her inflection had sensual elements in the right places.
Overall, a beautiful mafia romance that is addictive to listen to.
When Calen first caught sight of Maia he wanted her. But she disappeared and he’s been obsessed with her since. When he finds her again, there is danger everywhere. With some quick wit and smooth negotiations he has his little fairy safely ensconced in his home.
I loved how over the top, protective, possessive and jealous Calen was from the very first sighting of Maia. His total care of her was great and the way he slowly moved her into a position of being able to completely claim her was entertaining as well as pretty steamy.
Maia is intelligent and has goals she intends to reach. She is also pretty innocent but Calen brings out a part of her she didn’t even know she had. I actually enjoyed watching her grow into a more confident person.
This is a relatively fast read with a bit of drama and danger as well as a truckload of hot steamy smexy times that will literally melt your kindle and singe your fingerprints.
Really interesting characters, great plot twist. I would like to read more by this author.
