A surprise daughter, an unlikely attraction, and a Christmas wish… out of his league. He is military trained, so he can just discipline her right out of his head.
Taren has no idea why the grouchy former SEAL growls at her whenever she tries to talk to him. Even more surprising is why he fascinates her so. Because no matter how gentle he is with the animals, he’s just not her type. Not even close. When Dax learns he has a daughter, he seems so lost, and Taren’s heart goes out to him. A daughter is a precious gift, and no one knows that better than her. The loss of her own beloved baby broke her, but just maybe this gruff man with the gentle hands and his daughter can heal her. And in return, maybe she can show Dax and his little girl how to be a family.
Can one little girl’s wish and the magic of Christmas bring together two wounded souls, giving her the family she desperately wants?

Caitlyn’s Christmas Wish (Blue Ridge Valley Book)

Sandra Owens is a new to me author. The first thing that drew me to this book was the cover . I love it ! The blurb sounded good so i thought i would give it a try. Right from page one it drew me in. The heartbreak that both main characters had been through pulled at my heartstrings. I laughed and cried reading their story. Caitlyn’s Christmas Wish has it all.. animal rescues, surprise daughter you did not know you had , second Chance romance, opposites attracting with characters that are not perfect. I just loved Dax and Taren’s story. Caitlyn stole my heart along with all of the animal rescues. I was so happy to find out this is a series and can not wait to read the others. The fact it takes place in my home state made it even better.
I loved the authors writing style and the fact she described all of the scenes so well. It was as if i was standing right there with them. Can’t wait to read the other character’s story.
If you are looking for a great short romance story to pull at your heartstrings this story is for you. As always if you like the book you are reading please leave the author a review in places like goodreads & Amazon. Authors appreciate every review they get. Caitlyn’s Christmas Wish (Blue Ridge Valley Book 4)
Caitlyn’s Christmas Wish is by Sandra Owens, a new to me author. My first thought regarding this book was how lovely the cover was. And the blurb sounded sweet. But I was not prepared for this little book to jump right out and grab my heart the way it did. My heart turned over in my chest more than once. And I know my eyes leaked a time or two during a couple of extra sweet moments. What a wonderful surprise this was.
Dax Stockton didn’t have the best upbringing. He was raised by hippie parents moving from one commune to another. He joined the military and became a Navy Seal, relishing the structured lifestyle as opposed to his chaotic childhood. Now Dax lives in Blue Ridge Valley, managing his friend Savannah’s animal rescue. He lives alone and loves the peace and quiet.
Taren Blanton was every bit a southern belle, a true to life debutante. Taren had thought she had everything, a husband and baby daughter she loved with all her heart. Until they were tragically taken from her. Now she has put the worst of her grief behind her and is living with her brother and managing his dinner theater. She has not even considered dating or had any sort of interest or reaction to any man since she lost her husband, until she met Dax. He is the complete opposite of her husband, not at all what she ever thought she’d be attracted to. But whenever she’s around him, she gets nervous and tongue tied like a teenager.
Dax has most definitely noticed the beautiful Taren, but she is so far out of his league. She’s all soft edges and culture to his rough exterior and simple life. He could never be what she deserved. But it becomes evident that the attraction goes both ways.
Before he could consider his attraction to Taren, Dax had his world literally turned upside down. It seems he has an eight year old daughter he knew nothing about. A little girl he is now responsible for. A little girl who is now dealing with her own grief. Dax has never been responsible for anyone else but himself and for the abused animals he helps to care for. Is he equipped to raise this little girl, his daughter?
Taren comes to Dax’s rescue and helps him adjust to his new role as a father. This also gives Taren and Dax a little more of an opportunity to get to know each other. And the more they do know each other, the more they realize that there is something there, something that could be wonderful. As Christmas approaches, can these three come together, each dealing with their own issues, and form a family?
This book was just wonderful. Little Caitlyn stole my heart. And even with all of Dax’s misgivings about his ability to be a father, he was amazing. Of course, Taren was a huge help. And I loved Taren and Dax together. Like I said earlier, this just took me by surprise and squeezed my heart. I just loved it and look forward to more by this author.
I enjoyed revisiting Blue Ridge Valley & catching up with all of the wonderful characters. Dax, Taren & Caitlyn were all struggling with the loss of family in some way. It was wonderful to see them help each open up, love & be loved by others.
LOVED, LOVED, LOVED IT!!
Did I mention I loved this book? Well I did! It was fantastic. I love Dax and Taren but my favorite character is Caitlyn. I laughed and cried throughout this book. Definitely pulled on my heart strings. I was just so captivated by the whole story that I had a hard time putting it down. Even though it is a stand alone book it was good to see the characters from the other books in this series rally up for their friends and this little girl named Caitlyn. Great book, awesome series!
5 stars for Caitlyn’s Christmas Wish.
Author Sandra Owens’ has done it again. What a wonderful, sweet, and happily ever after novella. Caitlyn’s Christmas Wish has it all.. drama, animal rescues, surprises (in the form of an 8 year old daughter), and the perfect love story between Dax and Taren.
Dax, a former Navy SEAL with a gruff personality has secret feelings for Taren, a wealthy socialite with a heartbreaking past. Things start to heat up when Taren agrees to help Dax with the daughter who seems to hate him.
This standalone novella brings back Owens’ Blue Ridge Valley’s amazing characters, including Hamburger and Mary, and all the humor that comes along with them.
You’ll love this heartwarming and endearing story.

Christmas Story!!!
Wow, just wow! Once again this talented author delivers a wonderful story that will touch your hearts.
If you have read other stories in this series, you’ve met Dax Stockton, former Navy SEAL, and bodyguard. Now working for Savannah in her animal rescue farm.
Dax is a quiet man , with no ties and one who keeps to himself.
Taren is a Raleigh socialite, whose had great loses in her life and is in Blue Ridge Valley to help her brother. Though she finds Dax attractive, he tends to be grouchy when she’s around. Little does she know that it’s his defense mechanism towards her.
When Dax discovers he has an eight year old girl , he’s at a loss. With Taren’s help , they all start to develop a relationship. One that might be put in jeopardy.
This is an engaging and touching story that at times is heartbreaking, at others you will want to cry and laugh at the same time . As well as one filled with hope, new beginnings and the possibility of love.
The main characters are perfect in their imperfections . You’ll also get a chance to “visit” with the characters from the previous stories.
Definitely this is another winner in this series.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Rescue animals, a sweet little girl, a brooding, gentle hero, some steam and CHRISTMAS A perfect combination for a charming holiday story!
