A stark and simple story of kindred spirits on voluntary hiatus from the world and society. They stumble upon each other in a cabin in remote mountain, harsh weather traps them and their forced stay soon warms up to a companionship. Burning logs heat up the house and their passions and soon the blaze roars and engulfs their hearts alike.
Lumbering Tristan has secluded himself amidst nature with Blue Jays and wolves and Bears and an occasional Moose for company. His heart is at peace here
“At the cabin there were no others to make him second-guess what brought him joy and what made him a man. It struck him as odd that the masses let other’s opinion dictate their own self-worth. Isolation offered him a freedom that Society had never graced him with”

Meghan is a recently divorced woman, who’s been trying to discover who she really is. Tristan is a man betrayed and hurt by traumatic events in his past, and he’s been living in an isolated cabin deep in the woods. When Meghan decides to go on a solo hiking and ski trip, their paths will cross and their lives will change forever! Meghan is inexperienced and doesn’t take into account that the weather can be unpredictable! When her life is in danger, Tristan rescues her and they end up trapped in his cabin! Tristan is rugged in appearance but shy and sweet in personality. Meghan can’t understand why he’s sequestered himself away from society. She has dedicated her life in raising her children and being a good wife. After her divorce she’s on a quest to find her true self. Can two people used to protecting their hearts learn to trust and love again? A heartwarming and romantic read, perfect for cold winter nights! Meghan and Tristan find love during a snowstorm and their wounded hearts are healed!
It was quick, fun, sexy read. And had me a little frustrated for Meghan with the way she was treated by her family. But it was a perfect winter read.
Cabin Fever was a sexy contemporary romance perfect for this time of year. Tristan is happy with his life of solitude up in the mountains. He prefers being away from people and the issues they can add to a person’s life. Being able to live a simple life the way he sees fit suits him just fine.
Meghan was able to find herself after a failed marriage and her sons getting older thanks to hiking. Unfortunately that new passion has put her a dangerous situation when a bad storm strands her mid-hike. Thanks to the help of a special owl, Tristan rescues her. As they find themselves stuck together until the storm passes, they find in each other something missing from their lives.
This was such a perfect winter story. I really loved Tristan and Meghan. They are older characters so brought a maturity to the story one does not always see in a romance novel. Seeing them get to know each other and be domestic was adorable and heartwarming and there was just the perfect amount of sexiness. Larsen and White are a perfect writing duo and I hope they continue to keep co-writing.
When I count my toes, I’m so thankful to come up with 10. I believe I curled my toes reading this book more than I have while reading any other book!
When Tristan moved to seclusion he had felt the freedom that he was looking for. All alone up on the mountain in his cabin built by his own two hands. Peaceful, no worries, simply living life the way he wants.
Meghan finally found something that makes her feel useful. After a marriage that failed and her twin boys older now, Meghan has found that hiking is what calls to her. She feels the freedom and the acceptance of being all alone on the trails.
When the storm of all storms hit, who other than Hoot-Hoot the owl can call out the rescue for a hiker in need.
The days following the rescue are so heart-warming. The home made meals, the taking care of each other, the movies, the reading out loud. One comes to realize that even in today’s society, a person can survive without all the ‘extras’ that everyone thinks they ‘have to have’.
This is a smooth sailing, quick paced read that I read in one setting. Although not a novella, it does pack a lot of story in the pages.

Absolutely loved the plot. Mountain man and a damsel in distress make great storylines.
I hate to say it but this romance made me hurt and cringe in one scene. Oh my gosh! I was in pain reading it.
I loved the characters.
-Meghan is so loving and caring. She wants adventures after her divorce so that’s what she does.
-Tristan is so brave and strong. He’s so tender with Meghan and I fell in love with him. He is so swoon worthy.
Loved the ending. Glad they get their HEA.
I accepted this after the blurb caught my eye in an email. I haven’t read either of these authors before, so I thought I would check them out. I read this the other day while in bed not feeling well. It was a lovely winter/holiday-ish read. There were a few spots that dragged, a few that didn’t work for me, and it took me a bit to get behind these two as a couple or root for them. Besides what I mentioned the rest of the book was pretty decent. I think I would check out these authors again. If this one sounds like something, you would like I think you should give it a go. It might work out better for you.
ARC in exchange for an honest review
Cabin Fever is a fast-paced contemporary romance about two characters who both run away from the circumstances in their lives. Tristan is socially withdrawn and has been living alone in the mountains for years, and is mostly very happy with his life. Meghan is trying to find a meaning to her life after being abandoned by her husband by going on dangerous adventures. Even though this book was shorter than what I usually read, I still think that the authors did a good job in telling a complete story. I loved how the relationship between the two developed, and it had some very sweet moments. I could totally understand where Tristan was coming from and why he had secluded himself from the world.
“Everyone left him eventually, whether by will or fate, every woman he’d ever loved had slipped through his fingers.”
This book was a beautiful romance focusing on characters who are a bit older, Meghan was 40 and I don’t think it was mentioned how old Tristan was (and if it was, I don’t remember), so I am assuming around the same age as Meghan. I like reading about more mature characters, and see how they make decisions in certain situations. I could really feel the maturity in Tristan and Meghan, and I loved seeing them fall in love. The writing was easy to read and had a great flow. The romance was beautiful, and I loved seeing these two characters becoming closer and closer each day. This was a sweet romance with hot sex scenes. Tristan didn’t think he would be enough, and that Meghan wouldn’t want the life he was living in his cabin in the mountains. But he should know that nothing can stand in the way of true love.
