*Bonus books and launch rewards included during the release week. Jasmine can sometimes track emotions, and because of that, the coven considers her a talented witch. She knows the only thing she can do reliably well is cook. Mind tracking is only a side dish, and that ability is so unreliable she’s ashamed to claim it as a talent. Migrating to Gisborne years ago to keep a secret, her parents … ago to keep a secret, her parents held important positions in the coven. Before she knows it, Jasmine—with limited talent and zero willingness—promised her parents she would manage the coven and keep their secret.
Gisborne is a tranquil little town. Keeping secrets shouldn’t be a problem.
Unfortunately, the tranquility of the town ends when a tourist is killed with a bottle of cabernet sauvignon produced by the vineyard she manages.
The city’s no-nonsense detective, Bertram Hays, is normally the last person sent to investigate the occurrences in a small town. But the chief of his station dispatches him to Gisborne the very second he learns about the murder, because Detective Hayes has never lost a case.
To keep the paranormal community at bay and their secret hidden, Jasmine and her friends must either convert the arriving detective into a believer and ask for his help, or point him toward a wrong direction.
Neither solution is feasible at the moment…
Cabernet Murder is the first installment of the Magic in the Vineyards paranormal mystery series. If you like small-town charm, food, wine, and mystery with a dash of romance, Magic in the Vineyards is the series for you.

Cabernet Murder: Romantic Paranormal Mystery by D.N. Leo is such an amazing story that I have had the privilege to read. This is book number one in this amazing start to a brand new series and I can not wait to read book number two. I highly recommend this story to everyone who lvoes reading about suspense, paranormal and cozy mysteries.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This small town paranormal romance/murder mystery is just fab! From the witch with her secrets to the big city detective who has no idea about the paranormal it’s exciting and engaging, it’s got mystery and intrigue and will have you guessing constantly especially with some twists thrown in! So looking forward to reading book two!
What a captivating story from the start to the end. A murder of a paranormal in a small town needed solving and a detective from another city was sent. Jasmine owned a vineyard where detective Bertram stayed while working the murder. After finding many leads and not wanting to get into paranormal neighborhood the detective said he could not solve the case. This was an intriguing book and I enjoyed reading.
I’m surprised by so many positive reviews for this story. It’s choppy at best. There is useless information provided and important info left out.
Page 37: She glanced quickly at his breakfast. She refrained from commenting on the two pieces of sourdough bread, the breakfast cereals, and the coffee Bertram had ordered. Cereal wasn’t the best choice for him. He should have had a light bread, toasted with ham and cheese, and tomato juice. The coffee was fine, but it should be consumed afterward and as a stand-alone, not mixed with the breakfast food. He had made his choices from what was on the menu, and there was no way he could have known that there were options that were better for him. She didn’t know how she knew that. She just knew.
Why is this even in the book? Why?!? It serves no purpose whatsoever. And the fact he ordered “from the menu” like EVERYONE does IN A RESTAURANT but Jasmine is put off by this confuses me. It’s HER restaurant at HER winery.
Page 114: She made a cup of coffee with the beans of her favorite local coffee roaster. She had it black. If the coffee was good, there was no need to add other ingredients to the cup.
Again, what purpose does this information serve? It doesn’t have anything to do with the plot, it doesn’t move the story forward at all other than to let me know Jasmine is extremely picky about when/how to have coffee, so why bother?
Page 116: “I’m heading to the police station to report it when they open at nine.” This is in reference to reporting a MISSING PERSON. Do police stations really “close” so you can’t report crime in Australia? Wouldn’t you dial 000? Again, puzzling to me as a reader.
And her friend Beatrice really loves dogs to the point “She got serious about it. She has her own vet school now.” No mention of whether she became a veterinarian through years of study as is required. Nope, she just has a “vet school.” Uh huh, sure. And Beatrice cares so much about animals she sends them home without leashes or proper transport cages after some pipes burst in said school.
Page 100: “They quickly put his front leg in a small sling and gave him some treats.” This is referring to a puppy named Max that got injured. They put his leg in a sling? WTF?!? He’s not a cartoon character like Scooby Doo. The author really needs to do some basic research.
And this one just confuses me. Page 136: Jasmine left the room when she heard footsteps on her front porch. Before opening the door she checked to make sure it was Bob. Bob was standing outside the gate of her small garden.
So where is Bob? On the front porch or outside the gate??
And one last puzzler for me. Page 132: Her private kitchen had a lot more stock than the kitchen at Vines & Soul.
Really? I should hope that the high quality restaurant at your vineyard is better stocked than your home kitchen Jasmine.
This book is all over the place as far a plot points. The whole romance aspect is tepid at best and the surprise at the end was beyond frustrating. I didn’t actually like any of the characters, main or background. I also felt this lacked in descriptions of the vineyard and surrounding area. It was like this could be any old place, not a gorgeous winery in Australia.
I got this free from another author’s website as part of a promo on her page. I’m mad I wasted my time, please don’t waste yours. I won’t read anymore in this series. The version I downloaded has 196 pages, Cabernet Murder ended on 143. I didn’t even bother with the bonus stories included because I just can’t take more irritation in my life.
I loved the small-town charm of the setting. A fast past fun mystery with interesting characters. I good start to a new series.

Our heroine is a (reluctant) witch living in a community which tries to keep the paranormal on the down low. But when a guest gets murdered, that suddenly becomes much more difficult.
This is the start of a new cozy mystery series combining wine and witches. The setting on this one is fascinating with more going for it than the typical small town. I love the inclusion of the vineyard and other foodie elements. The characters are also well done, although as the start of the series there is a lot more that is hidden so far. The story itself is well written and easy to read with an enjoyable plot that provides enough mystery and intrigue to keep you reading right up to the end. Overall, a very promising start to a new series, one I look forward to exploring further.
Highly recommended.

Difficult and uncomfortable collisions between paranormals, witches and a sensitive detective
Connections are forged, alliances made, and at least one heart dented, if not broken
A murder mystery that will keep you turning pages. The writting is great with a wonderful storyline and characters. Lots of twist and turns, romance, magic and mystery to solve. I really enjoyed this read from start to end.

Hmm … small-town charm, food, wine, and mystery with a dash of romance? Say no more! Actually, do say a bit more, such as that a favorite author, D.N. Leo, has once again demonstrated mastery by producing a romantic paranormal mystery, Cabernet Murder (Magic in the Vineyards Book 1), that’s the perfect paranormal tale with excellent romantic touches and a neat mystery (yes, check all the boxes),also (no surprises with this author) superbly written and with a perfectly crafted cast. Let me tell ya, 5 stars was easy to give here, and it’s equally easy to highly recommend this book.
Book one in the Magic in the Vineyards series is well written and kept me turning pages, a great mystery. I want to read the next book. Jasmine can Mind track, is a vineyard manager, and witch. This story has suspense, drama, danger, murder, things being not what they appear, twists, and turns. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Small town murder mystery with plenty of twists
I really loved the background and setting. Lots of great references to coffee, wine and food, very delectable sounding. Jasmine is a true coffee snob, in a fun way. A generous variety of characters, many with interesting quirks. A murder to solve, and a town of paranormals to protect made this an interesting story that kept me engaged from beginning to end. Trying to figure out who done it was a challenge in this twisting tale. Jasmine has some psychic abilities, there are witches, humans and paranormals who keep the multi layered plot interesting. There are several threads going on, this is an ongoing series, but you are left with a conclusion to the mystery of this story. I can see there is still plenty to be revealed as the next books in the series continue. I am looking forward to reading more of this series. An enjoyable quick read that I highly recommend. I received this book for free and voluntarily reviewed.
This nice, family-friendly mystery is set mainly at the Vines & Soul Resort near Gisborne on the outskirts of Melbourne, Australia and takes about a day to read..

Overall rating 4.3
A different sort of who done it with a mixture of magical and supernatural. Secrets are protected , secrets get revealed. The story moves wonderfully. Love the the mystery murder remains the priority. There are still much to be learned about these characters which makes me curious to see how book two reads. All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
Wine Head
Love this new series. The book was kind of light heart as much as it can be when someone has been murdered. The characters are interesting with abilities that are not quite perfect.
For those of you that like witches, warlocks, null shifters and regular shifter, some physic abilities this book just may appeal to you.
I will say this book had a few twist that I did not expect. Looking forward to reading more about Miss Jasmine and her friends.

Great new series. I am hooked. Even got confused and missed The Who Did It. Love when that happens. Kudos!!!!
Hint: a clue given to who done it can easily be overlooked. I had it marked and forgot about. When the reveal happened, I was a bit confused till I checked my notes.
Synopsis: Human and Paranormal community, but humans don’t know. Murder happens to paranormal and need to cover from humans. Glitch is that Police are called in before they can act. Will cop be okay or need to be kept ignorant? Who or what are the creatures that keep showing up ? How is does she do the magic she does when not magical?
LOVE THE CHARLIE ‘S ANGELS!
Lots of surprises. Will you see them coming? Lots of intrigues
Only issue I have is blurb let me think we would find out about her parents. Very little info in this book. Why I want book two NOW!!!
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
