Now discover Book One in 2019’s exciting new Medieval series!1200 A.D. – In the time following the death of Richard the Lionheart and the ascension of his brother, John, to the throne of England, a plot against the new king … brother, John, to the throne of England, a plot against the new king is hatched from an unexpected place – deep within the bowels of The Lateran Palace in Rome. It is rumored that the Pope himself is behind it. It is a plot so dark, and so dastardly, that William Marshal needs men who specialize in dark and dirty games in order to save a king they all hate, yet a king that England desperately needs.
The Marshal needs the men known as The Unholy Trinity -the Executioner Knights.
Sir Maxton of Loxbeare is the leader of this unholy band of cutthroats. A big man with dark hair and dark eyes, Maxton fostered in the finest houses, but there is something unsettling about him. He is a man who easily kills without remorse, and he never questions an order, no matter how unsavory it is. William Marshall tasks Maxton and his comrades with seeking out the papal assassins, and the duty soon becomes a high-stakes game of chess, with checkmate being the life of the King of England.
Enter Lady Andressa du Bose. A great heiress who was cheated out of her inheritance by a conniving aunt, Andressa has spent unhappy and bitter years serving in the convent she was essentially sold to. A chance meeting with Maxton introduces Andressa to a world she wants to be part of, and a man she is greatly attracted to, but in that meeting, she has unknowingly given Maxton a lead on something he very much wants – a clue to who the assassins really are. All signs point to papal operatives. Maxton has a job to do and he’ll use anyone he can to complete it, including the lovely pledge who is increasingly on his mind… and in his heart.
Join Maxton and Andressa in a deadly game of cat and mouse, where all is not what it seems, and even those most devout can sometimes hold a terrible secret. It soon becomes clear that Maxton must make a choice… give in to his feelings for Andressa, or save a king, and with that, England’s sovereignty.
It’s a showdown of good against evil, and the power of love against a knight’s sense of duty, in this larger-than-life Medieval Romance.
Note: Read Lord of Winter by Kathryn Le Veque as a prequel to this series!

Sir Maxton of Loxbeare is one of England’s most skilled Knights. Since the end of the Crusades he and his friends have been mercenaries, sometimes taking jobs nobody else could do. However there is a line he will not cross.
Lady Andressa du Bose has been sent to a convent by her Aunt , so the woman can use her inheritance. The convent has an evil Mother Superior. Her nuns live in constant fear and hunger.
This is a fantastic book, absolutely filled with political intrigue, danger and great characters. Our hero is not a good man but he seems to be growing a conscience. Our terrified heroine seems timid, but has got nerves of steel.
I won’t say too much more about the plot because I don’t want to spoil it for you. Just know that before you start reading you should make sure you lock everybody out and make yourself comfortable, because you will NOT be able to put it down. I was awake until 1:30am to finish it.
I loved every page and can’t wait to read the next in the series.
The first book of The Unholy Trinity series and the Executioner Knights, and this one is focusing on Maxton. The Knights are tracking an assassination attempt on King John, and when this story unravels all the twisted and dark knots of this story it will be quite surprising. The reader is brought into this intricate tale like they are right in the story watching it unfold in person.
There is a romance here, it’s not the main part of the story, but it’s also a story of equals, as equal as a man and woman can be in this age. Lady Andressa is as smart and cunning as a Knight, and proves her worth time and again. The epilogue in this book was almost a story in itself, and gives us a good idea where we may go next in the 2nd book in the series, and shows us what life has been like for Max and Andie a few years down the road.
I’ve never been disappointed by this author’s books, and this book didn’t let me down, and she has a knack of yanking me into her story very early in the book. I am very much looking forward to the next book.
This book had intrigue and romance. The book showed how women could be just as part of underhand dealings as the men. I was impressed that a man could be so forgiving of a woman that had given her self to someone she wasn’t married to because most men wanted their wife to be unsoiled. He had so much presence of his own misdeeds to look past hers. I loved his softness, but yet he was still a knight of strength!! The author managed to compliment both so that it wasn’t fake or contrived! That is why she is such a great author because she can compliment the two progantists so that they are not fighting the storyline or making it sickening sweet or unbelievable!!!
Prepare to enter a world of medieval intrigue with a fearless knight, part of a group named the The Unholy Trinity – The Executioner Knights, who after the Crusades became mercenaries. That is exactly what they are and the hero, Sir Maxton of Loxbeare is the leader and possibly the most ruthless. Sent on a mission to find the men who seek to assassinate the new King John of England, he will stop at nothing.
That is until he comes upon Lady Andressa, who has been living in a convent, sent there by her aunt, who is stealing her inheritance. She may be the key to to helping him find the men he is looking for and she finds herself greatly attracted to him. A man with no softness or can he have strong feelings for Andie?
Filled with suspense, danger and strong emotions that you can feel through the characters, once you start this story you will not be able to stop. Kathryn LeVeque is a master at creating a story that is filled with strong heroes and heroines of legendary proportions that take you through history as never before.
A remarkable debut of the Executioner Knights series. Cannot wait for the next!
THE GREATER GOOD
An assassination is planned to remove King John from the throne of England. A young boy maybe the next king. Control is in Rome. It’s up to William Marshall to call for the Executioner Knights to join his loyal Knights to discover the plan. Clues to a spy/messenger with the information leads to London. Sir Maxton Loxbeare fought with Richard in The Levant. Captured on his way home, he is ransom into service for William. Andressa du Bose is a pledge at the Abbey St. Blithe and starving. Begging and stealing food in the streets of London are her only options. When she literally runs into Maxton, her life will change forever. Soon, William’s Knights will know this pledge will hold the key to an assassination. Maxton will know her to hold his heart. I read the last two chapters and the epilogue twice just to retain the euphoria after reading a good book.
LOVE THIS AUTHOR’S WRITING STYLE! I AM HOOKED 10 STARS IF I CAN GIVE IT.
loved it as usual but this one has more spelling/grammar errors than usual, so I’d have to go back, reread, to figure out what was meant.
All of Kathryns books are full of action. This is the beginning of a new series and is ex optional. Read it.
I loved all the books by this author!!!
I can’t say enough about Leveque. This one had me holding my breath.
I absolutely loved the story of Maxton and Andressa! Maxton was the leader of an elite group of knights who became known as The Executioner Knights for each had a special skill used during their time spent fighting in The Lavant. Kathryn Le Veque writes amazing, deeply romantic, stories of love that break through the troubles, fears, and self doubts the characters experience. She takes you back through time to the stories location. I’m glad we weren’t left where we met Andressa. This series seems as if it is going to be a bit different than Kathryn’s latest books. I love the characters, her creativity and talent in forming the plot or storyline of this romance, and all of the emotional entanglements that make it a 5 Star Romance. I’d classify it as a must read that will keep you glued to your chair until the mystery unfold before you. I’m eagerly awaiting a Book 2.
I didn’t make it through the first chapter and deleted it from my Kindle. The writing itself was fine.
Knights with tortured souls, a plot to kill the king by assassins unknown and a starving pledge in a local convent; who would have thought to mix all these and come up with a romance plus a villain no one would suspect! I just love Kathryn LeVeque’s books!
Great writing. The characters were great. The story was very different and then romance was exciting. It is s nookyhat you Csnt put down
As always ..this author does not disappoint !
Oh my!! I have a massive number of this author’s works. I’m not exactly sure why but this one is my favorite. Whether it was my Catholic school education where the nuns seemed to take great joy in punishment for minor infractions from measuring uniform length to ensure the hem touched the ground to the swatting of our knuckles during penmanship class. But I was able to connect with the heroine & remember prayer for some one like our hero to rescue me. Great read. I was so sad when it was over. I cannot wait for the other Executioner Knight books to become available.
The story is set in dark tones, much like the evil that is perpetrated against King John by the Pope of Rome. What makes it unfathomable, is not the Pope with his hatred against the King who seeks to change the political scape, but the means by which it will be done. That my good reader, is what will eat at your craw, will repulse you, sicken you and fascinate you.
The Lateran Palace in Rome housed three Knights in lavish style after they returned from the Crusades. These men were renowned killers. They didn’t question the means of execution—very Machiavellian in their views.
When the Pope commanded them to kill their own king of England for his own political agenda, they refused. From lavish treatment to imprisonment, until someone as powerful as the Pope needed their services.
Sir Maxton, the leader of the trio, somewhere between the dungeon and his new job for William Marshal had changed. Those closest to him see it. Can a man who has killed for years without remorse change?
A hapless, yet a beautiful and kind woman, Andressa, resides within the walls of St. Blitha. She comes from wealthy titled parents, both have died leaving her to a guardian aunt who has little scruples in ridding her, simply by housing her in St. Blitha, the local convent. The Mother Abbess has little scruples using the money received monthly for Andressa’s expense to further her own comfort. The nuns are forced to leave the nunnery and steal food. Only those ‘special assistants’ of Mother Abbess have privileges.
But reader there is more, much more divulged as the story unfolds.
Sir Maxton comes upon Andressa while she is out stealing for food. There is some attraction, but he is above all curious as to why a nun is stealing food. Most events in life aren’t a coincidence as serendipity surely abounds. You will be riveted to this compelling story, much like rubbernecking in traffic when there is a gruesome accident. You won’t, no you can’t turn away.
“Let me take care of you…let us find a corner of this world where two sinners can find happiness with each other.”
There is a plot brewing to assassinate the newly crowned King John. William Marshal takes the word of a trusted knight and hires what is known as The Unholy Trinity—The Executioner Knights. These three knights are united in one cause—to do what needs done for King and England without question or conscience. Sir Maxton of Loxbeare is the leader of this crew, and when his path crosses that of a frightened and hungry pledge from a local convent, it’s as if fate has put her in his path.
Lady Andressa du Bose was once an heiress to an impressive estate, but when she finds herself orphaned and alone, she is cast aside by her greedy aunt to die within the confines of a convent with a somewhat sinister reputation. Starved beyond reason, Andressa is caught stealing bread, but is rescued by a devilishly handsome knight, who shows her a kindness she had long forgotten existed.
As the plot against the King continues to weave around circumstances associated with Andressa, Maxton finds himself torn between being obedient to his liege and winning the affections of the lady. The years of Maxton’s sins are beginning to weigh heavy upon his heart, and he sees in the eyes of Andressa a hope of redemption…and perhaps love.
Kathryn Le Veque is a master storyteller when it comes to medieval romance. Highly recommend and look forward to reading more adventures of the Executioner Knights!
Kathryn le Veques, has started a new series with her knights of old, she’s bringing new characters to life but also bringing favorites back too.
In The Unholy Hand, she has three knights that fight the fights that no one else will do, or just can’t do they look for those that will. In comes the first and main plot, the church has asked these knights to go and kill their king but doesn’t give the reason why, so do they do it???
The second plot is once the knights get home they are asked to find who is if not already there that is trying to get to the king, and to stop them, so do they do it???
The the main knight meets a pledge, a very hungry pledge who steals so that she can eat and she has this knight thinking about things, when he learns where she lives and that the Mother is evil, that other pledges disappear when the Mother is angered, what can be do???
All this and more Kathryn le Veques has you putting off everything else til you can read the whole book to find out what happens.
In every book that I’ve read by Kathryn, I have not been able too put it down. The whole book has me reliving the characters as if they are alive and real. As I read each page it’s like I can see, hear and feel each of what is happening. See the town, streets, the tavern. Hear the laughter, the fighting and the running of the characters. Feeling the punches, the hitting even the caress that the knight gives the pledge.
Kathryn has a way of writing and telling her characters stories that will just have you begging for more information about them, more stories of the families of those characters. More happy endings for even the sub characters. Kathryn le Veques is a wonderful talented author and you will fall in love with her knights like I did.
The year is 1200 AD, after the death of Richard the Lionheart, when John, his brother becomes the King of England. Deep within the Holy Church there are rumors of a plot made by the Pope, so vile and morose, that William Marshall needs men that specialize in horrible and unscrupulous means in order to save the King and England’s sovereignty. Enters the protectors; known as The Unholy Trinity, The Executioner Knights that William puts his faith in to save the Kingdom. This adventure is full of mystery, drama, vile plots that could be the fall of England, blended with a romance that binds it all together. This is a suspense filled drama that keeps you turning the pages.
