The epitome of grace, independence, and wit, Lauren Bacall continues to project an audacious spirit and pursue on-screen excellence. The product of an extraordinary mother and a loving extended family, she produced, with Humphrey Bogart, some of the most electric and memorable scenes in movie history. After tragically losing Bogart, she returned to New York and a brilliant career in the theatre. … theatre. A two-time Tony winner, she married and later divorced her second love, Jason Robards, and never lost sight of the strength that made her a star.
Now, thirty years after the publication of her original National Book Award–winning memoir, Bacall has added new material to her inspiring history. In her own frank and beautiful words, one of our most enduring actresses reveals the remarkable true story of a lifetime so rich with incident and achievement that Hollywood itself would be unable to adequately reproduce it.

Love her!
One would have to be a passionate fan to complete this book. Bacall recounts every event of her life. After reading about a zillion casting calls, encounters with other actors, and such, I still had 80% of the book to read and had not reached her first success. It was not interesting enough to invest my time.
I like biographies and autobiographies and think Lauren did a good honest job.
An interesting read about the life and times of Lauren Bacall
This book would probably not appeal to younger readers, but I enjoyed the stories fro the “golden days” of Hollywood. At 19, Lauren Bacall was catapulted to stardom and into a romance with the legendary Humphrey Bogart. They married, and stayed together until his death 11 years later. Bacall’s recollections of her life with “Bogie” are perhaps …
Very long and drawn out.
Poorly written.
Way too much detail.
A little too self-reverent.
I got tired of reading how “frightened” Ms. Bacall was. She was trembling for one reason or another on almost every page! Very disappointing story. I admire her very much as an actress, but not as a writer.
Enjoyed reading about holiday stars and the life of Lauren Bacall. She had a wonderful life.
Loved it.
Fascinating! I have always loved Bacall’s films. I even saw her on Broadway in “Applause,” and loved her in that. This book gave me great insights into what her life must have been like. Loved it!
Ms. Bacall must have kept a diary. The detail was incredible (although sometimes bogging down the book).
I enjoyed reading about her life. However the more recent addition did not add anything.
Great read about the stars from the golden age of Hollywood. Bacall knew them all, and survived to a ripe old age working in the theatre. She had an interesting live.
Lauren Becall wrote a very interesting story of how Hollywood was when she and Bogie were a golden couple.
I thought it told the inside story of what really went on with all the movie stars that Lauren Bacall knew.
Things the public is not privy to.
Repetitive and boring…. should have been entitled Me, Meself and I.
Bacall was an actor, not a writer, and it shows. The most interesting section is her 14 years with Bogart, mostly because of what a fascinating man he was. The rest of the book reveals the occasional tidbit appealing to the reader, but most of it is a bit of a yawn. One becomes weary of Bacall’s endless yammering about her shyness, nervousness, …
