Dominic was staring at me like he couldn’t decide whether to chop me into pieces or pull my hair and French kiss me.

I got her fired. Okay, so I’d had a bad day and took it out on a bystander in a pizza shop. But there’s nothing innocent about Ally Morales. She proves that her first day of her new job… in my office… after being hired by my mother.
So maybe her colorful, annoying, … colorful, annoying, inexplicably alluring personality brightens up the magazine’s offices that have felt like a prison for the past year. Maybe I like that she argues with me in front of the editorial staff. And maybe my after-hours fantasies are haunted by those brown eyes and that sharp tongue.
But that doesn’t mean that I’m going to be the next Russo man to take advantage of his position. I might be a second-generation asshole, but I am not my father.
She’s working herself to death at half a dozen dead-end jobs for some secret reason she doesn’t feel like sharing with me. And I’m going to fix it all. Don’t accuse me of caring. She’s nothing more than a puzzle to be solved. If I can get her to quit, I can finally peel away all those layers. Then I can go back to salvaging the family name and forget all about the dancing, beer-slinging brunette.
Ally
Ha. Hold my beer, Grumpy Grump Face.
Author’s Note: A steamy, swoony workplace romantic comedy with a grumpy boss hero determined to save the day and a plucky heroine who is starting to wonder if there might actually be a beating heart just beneath her boss’s sexy vests.

5 star Review By A Thread by Lucy Score
What a cracking story, from the first chapter, I knew that this book was going to be great and I wasn’t wrong. Lucy Score is a new author to me and why I have not come across her before, I have no idea.
The chemistry between Ally Morales and her new grumpy boss Dominic (Dom) Russo is off the charts and the banter between them had me in stitches, not to mention the arguments and sniping at one another. Ally is my type of heroine, sassie, strong, determined and feisty and I could easily see her as a friend. I loved Dom’s mother Mama Delassandra, she was a great secondary character.
This was a laugh out loud, hilarious read that had me receiving many funny looks from my family. Although there was a lot of fun, there were also some sad moments that had me shedding a tear. This is a fabulous book and a great example of the RomCom genre.
Although this is my first book from Lucy Score in will not be my last.
I absolutely loved this book and read it within a day. There’s some laugh out loud moments and lots of sexual tension. I love it when I come across a new to me author who has written a book that leaves me wanting more. I can’t recommend this book enough! And I wish I could give it more than 5 stars
I loved the pepperoni out of By a Thread. Great characters, hilarious banter — everything I adore in a book.
Oh my!! My first Lucy Score book and I want more. The chemistry between Ally and Dominic is on point. This is a long book, but it doesn’t drag. You are too busy laughing. This book shows how growing up can influence you as an adult. How that you may think that you are a certain way, but forgetting you have the choice to choose who you are. This book touches on many important topics in life, but is done with classic humour.

Arc received for honest review.
Everyone that needs a pick me up in the form of an office romance with a grumpy hero and a sunshiny heroine, drop whatever it is that you’re reading and pick up By a Thread by Lucy Score ASAP!
I laughed, I swooned, I damn near cried (it was close, as in really close and anyone that knows me knows that I’m basically heartless and I nearly cried) and had some damn fine groveling, and let me tell you, I’m always in need of some worthy groveling!
So, go do yourself a favour and fall in love with Dominic and Ally, because I have!
I love Lucy Score’s writing and I think this is one of, if not the best book she’s ever written!!!! HOLY TENSION in this enemies to lovers romance the entire time!!! Dom is a super cranky not very friendly man in a job he hates at the helm of his mother’s fashion empire. Ally is one of my favorite female characters ever! She is strong, independent, industrious, kind, sexy, passionate and in severe financial hardship due to many things, the most important of which is the cost of keeping her father in a good nursing home. These two come together and I’m not sure why they don’t explode over and over. The sexual tension is amazing and beautiful, but the emotional ride will slay you. SO BEAUTIFUL and AMAZING!!
Dominic and Ally clash from jump street. Love Ally’s take no prisoners attitude and the snarky comments she dishes out. Dominic is Mr. Grumpy pants and can’t seem to control his behavior where Ally’s concerned. Great cast of characters. Although Dom was super grumpy he did have a hidden sweet side he didn’t let anyone see.
Lucy was not kidding when she said she was writing about a grumpy grump face!! By A Thread was a hysterical, heartwarming, sexy read! A wonderful escape!
Dominic’s karma was coming back full force. The girl he had gotten fired was his mother’s new hire. Her smart mouth showed she wasn’t scared of him, especially since he couldn’t fire her! Her sassy attitude had him wanting more but would his father’s past scandals stop him in his tracks?
Ally was a fighter, her determination to succeed kept her going. When Dominic barged into her life would her goals get derailed or would her life turn out better?
Gahh!! Their bond and banter was amazing!! I laughed so much my sides hurt. Her messages in the food were amazing!! This was one of my favorite’s from Lucy!!
*gushing review raving about Lucy’s literary genius*
By a Thread has everything you expect and love from a Lucy Score romcom:
*Hilarious and witty banter
*Ridiculous scenarios
*Nuclear sexy times
*All the feels
*An insanely romantic grand gesture (okay, several of them.)
As my mom (Lucy’s #1 fan) would say, “If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.”
Lucy Score is an auto buy for me! I love her characters and sense of humor!
There’s the millionaire romance, the enemies to lovers, work romance, and the cynic vs the optimist. All out of just two people! This was a good, long read. I thought for sure I was going to get slammed with the chapter previews at the end, but nope, 100% all By a Thread. This isn’t just a romance, either. This is a book. Like a real book with sexytimez thrown in. So fantastic. Highly recommended.
Every Lucy Score book is better than the one before! Dom and Ally are absolute perfection, and I couldn’t begin to hate him because he’s not only funny AF while calling someone he doesn’t even know yet Maleficent, he’s just genuinely a good man!
There are so many pieces in this book that made me want to stand up and applaud, from Christian’s inclusive fashion line for those that need things like hidden seems and magnetic closings, to Ally drawing blood on Dom (just once, he deserved it!)
As with every Lucy Score book, By A Thread is funny as hell and supremely sexy, but there is so much more! One of the best authors currently writing, Lucy tackles the tough issues of today, makes us laugh, and includes characters that don’t look like the romance characters we are all used to.
I loved every page, cried when she introduced a transwoman for a magazine cover and on Ally’s Dad’s bad days, and laughed myself sick about dogs that absolutely were NOT the supremely chill Afghan hounds Linus needed.
If you haven’t read By A Thread yet, what are you waiting for? Get on it NOW!!
This book was so awesome! I couldn’t put it down. The back and forth between these two was absolutely fantastic! It is good enough to reread in the future.
Could NOT put down
I didn’t sleep last night because this book was that good! I loved the characters, even the ones that made me feel like strangling them! The storyline was catchy and the chemistry was constant and consistent
Lucy Score has done it again! I love everything that she writes, but this book…I just loved this book. It made me laugh out loud, cry, smile, want to smack at least one character upside the head, and sad when it ended. It was over! I wasn’t ready for it to be over, but wow was it an absolutely fantastic read!
I couldn’t put this book down and finished it in two sittings. I fell in love with this story!
This is my new favorite Lucy Score book. I wanted something fun sexy and this definitely checked those boxes and more. Dominic and Ally had the perfect enemies to lovers story, from the first FU she spells out with pepperoni on his pizza to that epic extended epilogue. After her pepperoni stunt gets her fired, his mom (and pizza date) offers her a job. And the work hate relationship is born. Their banter was superb and of course their sexual tension was off the charts. I loved the ‘Devil Wears Prada with more of a romantic twist’ vibe it purposely has. This also gave me some The Hating Game feels. The slow burn finally sparks to a real relationship around 60 or 70% however the story was far from over. I won’t spoil anything but the last quarter of the book was just as amazing as the chase. Those emails were epic and brought tears to my eyes and I swooned even more. I wasn’t expecting the range of emotions but was so happy for all the feels. I can’t recommend this one enough.
Consider indulging in this hilarious romcom if you are in the mood foru2060 a Grumpy Grump Face boss and Sunshine Optimist adminu2060 woven with Devil Meets Prada vibesu2060.u2060
Dominic is the aforementioned grump – he’s wickedly smart and unwaveringly loyal to his family name. His father has left him and his family torn to shreds and he’s stepping up to put things back together. The pressure is overbearing (hence, the grump face) and Mount Dominic just erupted … all over our ray of sunshine, Ally.u2060 Ally is going through it – she went from a successful, engaging job to a series of part time gigs after her father develops Alzheimer’s and a contractor fixing up her fathers place runs off with all her savings. She’s quick as a fox, with a sharp tongue and soft heart.
The banter is to die for and I had to keep putting the book down to laugh. Seeing these two work it out and unveil their secrets was a hell of a good time! The side characters add a lot of spontaneity too. There is very little external drama – all the tension is what’s between the two of them (and what’s holding them each back).

By A Thread, through the lens of a grump and his ray of sunshine, is a socially conscious workplace romance that explores how that setup can be sexy and daring but also respectful and healthy. Being someone’s boss, plus a big income gap, comes with all sorts of power imbalances and I love, love, love that this book openly acknowledged that. It also explored how two people in a relationship would navigate those imbalances and the uncertainty that comes with it.u2060
Oh my word this was so much fun and refreshing ! Ally and Dominic are just too much. They have fabulous chemistry, such sexual tension, witty sassy banter and so much to learn from one another.
It was the beginning of the end as Dominic knew when he got Ally fired from her waitress position. His mother who is a power of her own desires to step in and set the situation straight. Get ready for balance to tip when Ally and Dominic now must work together and even though he may be the boss the lovely and sassy Ally answers to his all mighty mother. Dom also known as Mr. Grump Grump has now found himself in a battle of wits and a struggle with himself and the strange feelings that he has toward his new employee. Ally was such a delight and oh such a breath of fresh air as our heroine . She truly is a giver and such a hard worker! She does not want a hand out and will give you 110% to get her job done in her professional and personal life! Loved it !

Stayed awake way too late because I just could not put it down! Will definitely look for more books by this author.
