Katherine “Kit” Kensington is twenty years old and has never been on a date. As the daughter of a successful and wealthy hotelier, she is overprotected, constantly surrounded by her personal security detail, and doesn’t get to meet many new people. Her father has an idea. That way, she can have her first date at … first date at the hotel bar with someone fully vetted, while being under the watchful eye of her guards at the same time. Win-win?
It’s anything but.
Kit’s world is turned upside-down when possessive billionaire Maxwell Armstrong enters the room. He doesn’t just want to buy Kit’s heart – he wants to own it.
So he strides toward her, pulls her against his chest, gives the event organizer a blank check, and tells Kit no other man is allowed to bid on her heart.
Only catch? Mr. Armstrong is looking for more than just a date…
He’s looking for forever.

Valentine’s Day horror movie tradition
Buy Me, Love is a quirky, sweet, romantic, fast-paced OTT novella about Kit and Maxwell. She is the 20 year old virgin daughter of a wealthy NYC hotel owner. He and her father served in the military together and he started and runs a private security company in Arizona which has made him wealthy. Kit’s father is way overprotective and as such she has her own bodyguards which she likes to ditch. To get around this her father hired Max to come to NYC and be her secret bodyguard, and security detail. He does a really great job of it getting to know everything there is to know. The only problem is that he has fallen for her hard.
On Valentine’s Day the hotel holds an auction of which a date with Kit in the hotel is up for bidding. Max can barely take it and breaks his cover by grabbing her and taking her out of there, dropping a signed blank check off on the way out. They break all the rules and end up having a private celebration that evening watching a horror movie, eating diner take-out in a highway motel room. Max has a hard time resisting dessert and when it is offered up with a giant cherry on top he finally breaks down and dives in with everything he has and then some.
This is a bit of a different story and at times I really enjoyed it and at others I had a harder time staying with the story. Kit is a bit like a pinball and just bounces off everything while Max tries to be the sensible grown-up but gets brought down hard. Overall it was a nice story and I enjoyed it.
I really liked this story. There were a lot of feels and I enjoyed them all. The characters were well developed and easy to relate to.
Katherine “Kit” Kensington is twenty years old and has never been on a date. She is the only daughter of a wealthy hotelier. Kit is overprotected and constantly surrounded by security. Her father decides that Kit can put a date with her up for bid at his hotel’s annual Valentine’s Day Charity Auction. Kit will get to have her first date while at the hotel and be watched by her guards at the same time.
Maxwell Armstrong enters the room and Kit’s unprepared for how she feels when she looks in his eyes. Max is overwhelmed with all of the people looking at HIS Kit. He walks toward her, pulls her against his chest, and gives the event organizer a blank check. Max tells Kit that she is his and he’s getting her out of there. He doesn’t just want a date, he wants Kit’s heart and he wants it forever.
They were so funny in their conversations, little snarkiness and all. I loved their happy ever after. I definitely recommend reading this book.

Kit is tired of being watched all the time, she wants a little bit of normalcy. When she talks her father into allowing her to throw an auction (for charity) for a date with her…of course her father only allowed it when she agreed to it being a two-hour date within the hotel he owns and runs.
Maxwell is the secondary bodyguard that Kit’s father hired, he has watched her from afar for the past 6 months. Tonight though? He can’t help but to claim her at the auction, he refuses to even imagine someone else laying his hands on her. After he whisks her away, the sparks ignite – but when she finds out the truth, will she stay or will she run?
I loved this romance by Lauren, I found myself chuckling at some of Kit’s antics and I adored Maxwell. This read is perfect if you are craving a quick read that is sweet, steamy, low angst, and has a wonderful happily ever after.
