His hands are bound behind him, a crude butterfly drawn in blood on his bare back. He isn’t the first. When a drug addict finds the body of a man in the basement of an abandoned warehouse in New York City, Detective Damien Drake is called in to lead the murder investigation. The victim was a philanthropist, father, doting husband, and wealthy junior partner in one of the cities most respected law … of the cities most respected law firms.
He seemed to have the perfect life.
Yet when Damien probes deeper, he realizes that this man isn’t the first. His investigation soon connects this murder with another in Montreal, both of which were emblazoned with the same bloody butterfly.
What dark secrets is the NYC lawyer hiding? And what is the significance of the butterfly?
As Damien inches closer to uncovering the truth, the killer is closing in on him… and those close to him.
Damien’s last case cost him his partner’s life. This case threatens not only his job, but his sanity, as well. And this time, the killer may even be smarter than he is.
One thing for certain is that if he doesn’t catch the killer soon, more people will die. The only question is, will the next victim be someone close to Detective Damien Drake?

Excellent book, loved the characters. I will look for more from this author!
Definitely recommend. Scary book definitely different characters
Fast-paced and unpredictable, with a very eclectic cast of characters. A hard to put down story that sucks you in and keeps you engaged to the end.
A new author, I took a chance. So glad that I did! The story is great, the bad guy is crazy as a hit dog. Plenty of twisted plots. Good writing! I will be watching for other books! Get this book people!
Good mystery!
An excellent read
There are enough twists and turns to keep u interested. Ending is a bit abrupt.
There was a lot going on, keep my interest . Kind of spooky, The butterflies were a main part of the story. Hard to guess the murder, rather a surprise there. Good ideas, good writing made a good story.
This was a good read. I read it in one sitting. I liked the plot and the characters. The only distraction was in the errors. Not typos. It’s more like an editing thing. Like a sentence was switched around but incompletely. Ex: …someone goes about making a butterfly slurry and carries around monarch caterpillars doesn’t seem like they would make a dumb enough to leave their DNA at the scene… I’m pretty sure it’s an e-reader thing because there have been multiple mistakes in every book I’ve read. It won’t stop me from looking for the next installment.
I loved it
A page turner who dun it til the very end.
