A Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Washington Post, and Amazon Charts bestseller.
From #1 New York Times bestselling phenomenon Sylvia Day comes a hotly anticipated and passionate new love story.
Once, I would never have imagined myself here. But I’m settled now. In a place I love, in a home I renovated, spending time with new friends I adore, and working a job that fulfills me. I am reconciling … adore, and working a job that fulfills me. I am reconciling the past and laying the groundwork for the future.
Then Garrett Frost moves in next door.
He’s obstinate and too bold, a raging force of nature that disrupts the careful order of my life. I recognize the ghosts that haunt him, the torment driving him. Garrett would be risky in any form, but wounded, he’s far more dangerous. I fear I’m too fragile for the storm raging inside him, too delicate to withstand the pain that buffets him. But he’s too determined…and too tempting.
And sometimes hope soars above even the iciest desolation.
Emotional and heartrending, Butterfly in Frost marks a brilliant return by global sensation Sylvia Day, the #1 international multimillion bestselling author of the Crossfire saga.

I wish i could say i enjoyed this, i really do.
It is well written. The plot moves well. The characters have good chemistry and have a way of meeting that almost hits you like a speeding car.
Unfortunately, it cuts a bit to close to home for me and sadly, many moments of it left me reeling.
You see the premise is of a woman suffering with depression, and a man who has lost a child. Having been through such a thing myself, it is difficult to enjoy, even though the situations were different. Also, having been through it first hand, the empathy and strong feeling of the male lead were somewhat in contradiction to my own stony isolation. Then again, we all handle personal tragedy differently so don’t mind me.
The ending also through me somewhat. You see, you’re never actually told where the heroine’s depression stems from but it is suggested it’s due to her recent divorce. This is thrown out the window by the ending and it’s all so hastily done, it just leaves me wondering WTF?.
That being said, a good read, but rather lacking on the steamy scenes that made Bared to You so memorable. It does have them, but they’re few and far between.
This is a story of significant loss and healing. It’s finding love, re-awakening. It’s finding your way out of the darkness to the light. And it’s a good story, but the ending threw me and I’m left not sure how I feel. I’m glad they found happiness and hope and healed together. It’s the why of it all that struck me as odd. I’m still thinking on it.
This story was a journey one that took you to a place of fear, loss, grief, and love such a great love. This moved faster than I expected but by the end it all makes sense. A story worth your energy.
A really sad, sweet, poignant story with a surprise ending I didn’t see coming. The sex was a little graphic for me and frankly, I found it detracted from the storyline and the important emotional connection between the characters. However the writing was excellent and the setting was beautiful.
Sorry, Did not like this book. Not her usual style.
Not what I was expecting. I have read a few of Sylvia Day’s books and loved them. I have read the Crossfire series several times. It’s one of my favorite reads. And I know this book isn’t the Crossfire series it’s supposed to be something different. For me it didn’t even feel like it was written by Sylvia Day. For me the story was a little all over the place and a little confusing. I felt a little lost throughout the story. Like I was missing something. Then I get to the end and get hit with what is really going on and it just ends.
I did enjoy some of the moments Garrett and Teagan had together. The plot of the story was really good. Depression and grief is a hard subject to talk about. And it was good to see how everyone was doing from the Crossfire series. And get some questions answered from that series.
I’m absolutely blown away by Butterflies in Frost!!! The twist and turns I never shall coming, the way Teagan and Garrett manage their grief, and a guest appearance from my all time favorite character Eva Cross.
Teagan is a Doctor who is recovering from a traumatic event in her life. So as she takes the time to find herself again she working with Cross Industry on a new skin care line.
Garrett is a successful painter who finds himself in a perfect little town trying to recover from the loss of his family. He unexpectedly runs into Teagan and finally start to find what he’s been missing.
Complete 5 star read. Can’t wait to read more about these two amazing characters.
Blown Away!!!!!
Okay, I downloaded this book with KU! I love Sylvia Day and adored her Crossfire series. I was borderline obsessed and have re-read the series more than five times. So I was excited to read something different from the author.
I have so many mixed emotions and thoughts about Butterfly in Frost that I struggled with how I wanted to rate this review. At first it was going to be a three because I was a mess after the ending. But with that said, I felt like I went through the ringer with the story and the characters. That was the decision factor for a five star rating. If I feel passionate afterwards, its a win at the end.
So the story was a SLOW BURN from beginning to almost the end. My mind was just confused. I could not get what was happening. Why was Teagan so depressed? Why is Garrett so obsessed from the get go? It was so hard to stick with the story, but I had to stop comparing. That is when the book was set free. I agree with other readers. The end was mind blowing and I never anticipated the turn of events. So my friends I have to ask you this. If you read this book, please go in it with an open mind and heart. Be patient. You will fall for Teagan and Garrett’s story. Its about survival and never letting the candle burn out!
I liked both lead characters. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would because it’s a standalone novella and at the end, there were still important unanswered questions. Well written. Steamy encounters. Quick afternoon read. But the ending…I recommend if you’re good with unsatisfying conclusions.
I did not feel a connection to this book at all. The last part of the book was entertaining but did not make up for the disconnect in the chapters before. On another note I loved the Crossfire series.
I had promised myself I was done reading Ms. Day’s books after the letdown of her final book in the Crossfire series, but this story intrigued me, so I gave in and I am very glad I did! The H and h were interesting and I loved the H’s cockiness. I would advise anyone reading this book to not make ant premature judgements and just enjoy because it will all make since in the end. I would have given it a 5 star rating but this book is too short.
I found this to be an easy read. Was caught off guard by the ending of the book. Great book for the beach
Butterfly in Frost is uniquely emotional, pull at heartstring, and deeply
sentimental love story. One that wrecked me in the best possible, where my heart needs time just to recover!
Since I have been a huge Sylvia Day for years.
Her writing just brought me back to the Coss Fire Days with a poignant twist!

I am reluctant to say anything about this book, other than you must read it – and I would suggest that you do it before someone’s review tells you too much.
Two people drawn to each other in such a strong way, yet clearly both so damaged, makes for an abrupt introduction to them, but you absolutely need to have faith and read right to the end.
It works. I plan on reading it again in the next few days and adding it to my reread list.

Garrett moves in next door to Teagan at a time in her life when she is dealing with depression. We quickly learn that Garrett is dealing with his own heartbreaking loss. From their first meeting, the chemistry between Garrett and Teagan is strong. Knowing how Teagan is struggling with life, I wanted her to grab a hold of Garrett and just enjoy herself as much as possible for however long she could.
The description in this story is beautiful. And not just the words used to describe the stunning location and views from their homes, but things like the food, Garrett’s paintings, the erotic images of the couple’s physical relationship. This book is luscious.
Butterfly in Frost is wonderful story of love and it is one you will want to re-read as soon as you finish it so you can experience it again.

This story is a whirlwind of love at first sight attraction complicated by two damaged characters, both wary of risking their hearts again. This is angsty, passionate romance writing that slips into melodrama more often than not. Both Garrett and Teagan are emotional and somewhat irrational from the start. Difficult past experiences makes Teagan cautious but she can’t deny the attraction that simmers between her and Garrett from the start.
The melodramatic writing style is something readers will love or hate. Fans of Ella Frank or JR Ward might love the overwriting and the brooding, reflective characters but it wasn’t a perfect fit for me. I found the flowery, angsty bedroom scenes almost more comical than sexy and I had to roll my eyes at some of the more impassioned dialogue.
While the heightened emotions and the charm fit artist Garrett, Teagan is supposed to be a scientist and the angst doesn’t always fit her character. I’m not sure I really came to like Teagan and I’m also not sure I was supposed to. She’s a closed book. Her relationship with Roxy is light and superficial but as she doesn’t really share anything of herself with Roxy or Garrett, it is hard to feel anything for her. As a reality TV star, Teagan’s materialism and name-dropping make sense but I wanted to believe she was more than just superficially pleasant and attractive.
Garrett is also something of an enigma – though he is less closed off than Teagan. His initial full-on flirtation with Teagan is slightly frightening and the way he kinda forces himself into her life felt a little off to me. He’s beautiful and charming but from the start, I felt there was something of Jayne Eyre’s Mr. Rochester about him – all charm, secrets, and the ex wife he doesn’t mention. He’s more relatable as he starts to open up but his actions and emotions are really extreme at times.
The pace of this story is a whirlwind. Immediate attraction quickly becomes instalove and I found the speed and force of Garrett’s dramatic confessions of commitment a little terrifying. There’s a jarring revelation at the very end which changes the whole style, tone, and genre of the story and it didn’t quite work for me. Again, without spoilers, it is difficult to explain my reaction in more detail.

I’m not sure how I feel about this book. The premise is something I’ve rarely come across and I’m not sure if it works or not.
There are a lot of questions that are unanswered for me and I would really have liked to know more about Garrett’s son. During most of the book, I thought that something had happened to both his son and his wife. When I found out that wasn’t the case, I was very surprised.
Teagan is a very complex character and her depression is all too real. You get a feeling that there is something deeper to her angst other than a divorce, but you can’t figure out what. Was it her stint on reality TV? Was it being betrayed by the person she loved?
The end is very much a surprise and explains a lot about both characters.
The cameo with Eva Cross was a nice surprise.

This was my first time reading anything by this author and it was an okay read. I felt everything with the characters happened way too fast and I didn’t feel a connection between the couple. You could tell they were both hurting and dealing with some heavy issues. I just wish I could have felt the chemistry. Something. The story was nicely written but I did feel something was off at times when I read. There was a twist in the book that I didn’t see coming. I would have preferred a few more chapters after the reveal. I felt everything was wrapped up too quickly just when things got interesting. This author comes highly recommended by several book friends so I will give her other books a chance before I throw in the towel.
BUTTERFLY IN FROST is a new novella from Sylvia Day that crosses over ever so slightly into her beloved Crossfire series. It’s a tad secretive, but riveting enough to have you turning page after page to unravel more.
Teagan appears to be a woman recovering from something in her life. She’s had great success, but something changed for her and she’s slowly bringing herself out of a depression. She’s attention grabbing on the pages, but her past is left blank.
Garrett appears to be just a guy who moves in next door who immediately causes excitement and unexpected sexual attraction to flare. He slowly opens up about a loss that he’s experienced that changed his way of living. We watch as attraction flares into a whirlwind of lust and emotion.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes an emotional depiction of life moving forward after trauma. It’s emotional, with tidbits of fun thrown into the mix. It eventually culminates into a huge twist that we didn’t see coming … and as it all plays out, we’re left with unanswered questions of why and how.
Butterfly in Frost is rather slow moving, especially since it’s a novella. Garrett pursues Teagan from the start, but she has a past she’s still mired in and is determined to take things slow and he (mostly–there are a few kisses and one scene that is much hotter than one when no one removes any clothing should reasonably be expected to be) agrees to let her set the pace. There’s a lot of smoldering heat, but also quite a bit of sweetness and care–it’s a good mix.
This was my first book by Sylvia Day, so I wasn’t sure what to expect–there is an unexpected twist here, but maybe that’s her thing? All I can say is that there were odd little things sprinkled throughout the story–I kept feeling like I was missing something, that there was information I didn’t know–but still the twist took me completely by surprise. It took me a while to process it (and I had to resist the temptation to immediately go back and re-read the whole thing! As it was, I did re-read bits and pieces, just for clarity) but in the end I decided I liked it overall.
This book is essentially a standalone, though Eva Cross from the Crossfire series is mentioned several times (Teagan is in business with her) and shows up on the page briefly once.
Rating: 4 stars / B+
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Butterfly in Frost was an emotional read that deals with love, loss, and trying to put your life back together after your world has been broken.
What an interesting read this one was. This story deals with two people who are struggling and trying to recover from events in their past and find that the strength they each need to cope and heal can be found in one another. From the moment Garrett runs into Teagan – and that would be literally, there is no doubt that there is something between these two. Although Teagan is resistant to let Garrett in, I loved how he knew just how hard to push – with an almost gentle persistence – to let Teagan know he wasn’t going anywhere and there was no sense denying what they both felt was between them. Teagan is so concerned with not being enough for Garrett, not being able to help him through his low times, and I love how this story unfolded to show the strength that both Teagan and Garrett gave to each other.
I felt the entire time reading this one that there was something else to be discovered, and although I didn’t pick up on what it was until it was revealed, it definitely tied the whole story together for me. My only complaint would be the length – so often with novellas the story seems a bit rushed, and this one just drops you in and takes off and, although there was quite a bit of emotional depth, I would have loved just a little bit more to the story to get to know the characters just a bit more before they came together.
This is my first story by Sylvia Day and I enjoyed her voice and writing style. I loved the way she dealt with relationships, not just between Garrett and Teagan, but also the friendship between Teagan and Roxie, which had such an authentic feel to it. The content was a bit heavy and emotional and Day was able to put those feeling to words on the page. Not the lightest of reads, but one to pick up if you are looking for a deeply emotional quick read.
I read this with Kindle Unlimited.
One moment her life is going just how it should be, then Garrett Frost comes crashing into her world and up heaves it. He made his interest known immediately, and Teagan made it known then that she wasn’t interested. She also mentioned she didn’t want a man in her life, nor did she want a relationship or love, but Garrett just wasn’t getting the message. He just kept coming back for more… and as much as she tried to stand her ground, and resist him, the more the ground gave away beneath her feet.
Butterfly in Frost is an intense and passionate little tale that will have you mesmerized from first glance, it’s words were like an addiction I couldn’t shake. It was evident from first meeting that what these two shared was special and undeniable, but that didn’t stop Teagan from trying to resist it, she had sky high walls that she thought no one would be able to demolish. Her resistance was admirable, but I don’t think she was any match for Garrett. The man knew exactly what he wanted, knew what she needed, and he was determined to have it, not matter how long the wait. I loved the push and pull between them, it brought a palpable intensity to the pages, and of course lots of scorching heat. Hot! Hot! Hot!
I am a little ashamed to admit that this is my first read from this author, I know, I am a little late to the party. But now that that little ‘mistake’ has been remedied, I can say I am a fan… one that has a lot of catching up to do, I cannot wait to acquaint myself with Gideon and Eva! I highly recommend you get your hands on this book, it’s pages hold a story that is certain to leave you deeply moved!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, via a NetGalley request, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
Butterfly in Frost is the hotly aniticpated and exciting new release from author Sylvia Day. Now, I don’t know about all of you, but I have been waiting and I mean waiting for some new deliciousness from this author. And I gotta tell you, I couldn’t have been more excited to dive into Butterfly in Frost.
Butterfly in Frost is a quick, sexy and passionate read. The characters are intriguing and will suck you into their story right away. Teagan intrigued me and I wanted to know more. And when Garrett enters the picutre, all bets are off. Garrett challenges Teagan in ways that she is wholly unprepared for. He is everything she shouldn’t want and he totally knocks her world off its axis. Even with all of that, there is just something about Garrett that calls to her. Their connection is deep and intense. Garrett’s ghosts call to her, almost like a siren song. It is just too hopeless for Teagan to stay away…
Overall, I thought this book was a quick and enjoyable read. I really enjoyed getting to know Garrett and Teagan. I liked their chemistry and enjoyed seeing them go through the paces. I will say that while this book was a short read, I didn’t really like the pacing of the story. I did feel like it dragged at times, and that might just be me. The only other issue I had was the ending. Now, don’t get me wrong, the ending threw me for a total loop. I mean, I DID NOT SEE THIS COMING. I was totally shocked and surprised. However, I was quickly disappointed because there was like only 4% of the book left. I feel like while the story did come to end, there is still a lot that needs to be resolved. I have a ton of questions that I want answered and I have no clue if there will be another book or not!! I mean, the ending of this story took off at light speed and I am just dying/hoping that there will be more. I know I’m being totally vague here, but ugh! The only thing I can say is read it for yourself and let me know what you think.
Butterfly in Frost will take you emotions on a whirlwind adventure. This is a story that readers are either going to love or going to hate. For me, I thought it was a solid story, I just had a couple of issues with it. In the end, this story nailed the sexy factor and left me wanting more.
