A Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Washington Post, and Amazon Charts bestseller.
From #1 New York Times bestselling phenomenon Sylvia Day comes a hotly anticipated and passionate new love story.
Once, I would never have imagined myself here. But I’m settled now. In a place I love, in a home I renovated, spending time with new friends I adore, and working a job that fulfills me. I am reconciling … adore, and working a job that fulfills me. I am reconciling the past and laying the groundwork for the future.
Then Garrett Frost moves in next door.
He’s obstinate and too bold, a raging force of nature that disrupts the careful order of my life. I recognize the ghosts that haunt him, the torment driving him. Garrett would be risky in any form, but wounded, he’s far more dangerous. I fear I’m too fragile for the storm raging inside him, too delicate to withstand the pain that buffets him. But he’s too determined…and too tempting.
And sometimes hope soars above even the iciest desolation.
Emotional and heartrending, Butterfly in Frost marks a brilliant return by global sensation Sylvia Day, the #1 international multimillion bestselling author of the Crossfire saga.

This beautifully written love story will grab you from the moment Teagan and Garrett meet to the very last word. I could relate to Teagan on so many levels. I felt her pain, her love, her longing. I cried, I smiled, and I cheered for this couple. You will too! Highly recommend!
Another great book from Sylvia Day! So excited that she’s putting out books again! This was fabulous… hot…. and sinfully sexy!
Butterfly in Frost by Sylvia Day is a new contemporary romance novella that is emotionally charged, explicitly hot and sexy and has a twist that threw me for a loop!
I am writing a mini review because the book summary sets the novella up well and if I give too much more information, I risk revealing something that may give away the surprise twist. When I am looking for an erotic romance, Sylvia Day is one of my “go to” writers and I am so glad I read this book.
Garrett Frost is a famous artist who is gorgeous, sexy and wounded. When he moves in next door to Teagan, he could be just what she needs to move forward with her life or he could destroy her fragile new life and peace.
These two come together in an emotionally charged dance; one step forward, two steps back, take each day one at a time, do not discuss the past. Usually I want a longer book to get more in-depth emotions from the characters, but this novella gave an emotional punch in a short number of pages. The sex scenes are explicit and smokin’ hot. Crank the air-conditioner! At first, I felt you needed to read previous books to know what was going on, but I was wrong. When you hit the twist, it brings a whole new light to the story and it stands on its own.
I loved this story!
Magnificent Story the newest novel by Sylvia Day!! Butterfly In Frost a roller coaster of emotions, twist and turns that you won’t see them coming!!
I’ve been waiting for so long for Sylvia’s newest book and Butterfly in frost really was everything I expected.. the story at the beginning felt a little fast-paced and that the characters were rushing it but be sure that is not the case. when I started to read the first pages I thought I knew what the story was about, I went completely blind and I’m so glad that I did because I never expected all that happened next. I love how everything that I thought at the end was not even close..
Tegan and Garrett two characters that will make you feel the intensity of their chemistry and love from the very first pages of this novel.
“I wasn’t expecting to ever feel this way again, Teagan,” he says. “It’s intense for me. You’re telling me to ignore it, but I can’t. And if you’re being honest, you’ll admit you can’t, either.”
Tegan is a beautiful, bold and a strong heroine she has a past that keeps making her unavailable to move forward in her life, she is trying to build new projects, a new life and to continue her amazing career but her memories and a few things that happened to her are not letting her to finally move on and be who she is and to remember who she was..
“Teagan, I don’t know what you think I should be out there looking for, when I’ve got all the mystery of the deepest oceans sitting right here in front of me.”
Garrett is intense, hot and mysterious, he has a body that woman can’t stop looking at but also has many secrets that Tegan wants to discover but at the same time wants to stay far away from.. he also has a past that is not ready to forget but it is trying to move forward and rebuilt himself and help Tegan in the process to finally trust and let go..
“You’re broken. I’m broken. We don’t throw the pieces away. We fit them together until they make something new.”
ButterFly in Frost is intense, is sexy, is a second chance novel where Garrett and Tegan know that nothing is written until the end no matter how life is trying to break them, love is stronger than any pain and any memories.
You’re going to cry, laugh and feel all the emotions these wonderful characters are going through!!
Get ready to meet so many great secondary characters and a few others that we already know and love..
Overall I love the characters, love the story and I love how Sylvia really took us on a roller coaster of emotions, it was a great book and an amazing story!
When I seen there was a new release, I jumped on it. Teagan and Garrett, oh, my! Even though this was a quick read, the story was amazing, and, I totally didn’t see that coming toward the end. It left me saying WHAT?? Another great book by, Sylvia!
This book was a surprise for me,even thought I don’t know what to expect, this wasn’t where I thought the book was going. Butterfly in Frost took me on an emotionally charged ride, had me in tears but it was so very good. Garrett is a character you can fall in love with and his love for Teagan comes through in so many ways, you have to read this one.
What a beautifully poignant story of love, tears, loss, and finding love…again.
“Butterfly in Frost” grabbed me at the dedication “To the Tabke family, for inspiring me with your strength, compassion, and faith”. This story has all the elements we’ve come to crave with Sylvia Day’s novels. However, the story delivers care and compassion. Teagan and Garrett’s story reaches the soul. My only warning, have a tissue, if you listen to Audible you may not want to listen at work.
This book has just become one of the top ten books to read.
Thank you, Sylvia, for the beautifully written novella.
Author Sylvia Day brings a new passionate love story.
This book is a quick short read that was emotionally captivating novella that I was able to read all in one sitting.
Garrett Frost is is intriguing and I wanted more of him.
This book did have tons of twists but I felt they could have been more development to it. It felt a bit rushed.
I overalled liked this book but wanted just more of a story from it.
I look forward to seeing where the author takes it next.
3.5 Popped
Ok I thought for sure this was going to be 3 stars for me. I wasn’t invested in the couple with how quickly they got together. I’m glad I stuck it out towards the end, because it was something I wasn’t totally expecting! The last few lines actually had me a bit teary eyed!
4.5 stars
Wow! I don’t even know where to start with this one…
My heart has shattered and was slowly pieced together in this new, exquisite story by Sylvia Day.
Dr. Teagan Ransom has created a new life. One she is happy with: a renovated house, new friends, busy job. She is content in her quiet existence, even with her neighbor Roxy trying to get her to go out. But she’s also letting her past hold her back.
Garrett Frost is the hot new artist neighbor who also has a tragic past. But Garret and Teagan are like two side of the same coin. Their attraction is palpable.
As Garrett and Teagan for a relationship, Garrett finds himself, once again, creating art and Teaghan is slowly starting to succumb to her depression. But Garrett isn’t leaving and he will fight for her… for them.
This story is heartbreaking beautiful that you won’t know what happens until it hits you. Definitely one-click now.
I’m going to say this real fast before I get in trouble but I’veneverreadaSylviaDaybookbefore. Whew! Got that out of the way. Anyways, that being the case I had zero expectations going into Butterfly in Frost. No pre-conceived ideas or need to see mention of past characters to get in the way of reading, which I think worked out well in my favor with this story.
Dr. Teagan Ransom is bidding her time. She is on hiatus from her reality show and recovering from heartache. Teagan is a loner who is most comfortable in her own home so when a handsome, enigmatic artist moves in next door, she is thrown off. It doesn’t help her equilibrium that Garrett has taken an instant attraction to Teagan and is pushing his case clearly and forcefully. Garrett is a celebrated artist who hasn’t been painting lately, that is until Teagan is in his life. Garret is determined to have Teagan in his life and won’t take no for an answer.
I’ll apologize in advance for the vagueness that is going to be littered throughout this review. Butterfly in Frost is the type of story that revealing too much takes away from the impact of the story and how it unfolds. What I can say is that while both characters are badly damaged people, both are strong and resilient. Both have suffered losses that have caused their hearts to fracture, one a bit more than the other. Garrett is an open book of a man, having lost his wife and only child, his pain is raw and unfiltered. Teagan is the puzzle. Her heartbreak seems to stem from the break-up of her marriage to a famous actor but she definitely has more brewing beneath the surface. She is floating along without a rutter and it is not clear why.
At first, the story has the feel you get when you walk into a movie after the first 15 minutes. You feel as if you are missing something essential but don’t know what. This threw me for a couple of chapters thinking this feeling came from the way Ms. Day writes but as pieces of the puzzle came into focus and the romance between Teagan and Garrett grew that faded. As this is a novella, it moves along at a quick pace though doesn’t feel rushed.
Ultimately this is a story of overcoming the harm that life hands you. About making the most of the time we are given and taking nothing for granted. It is a bittersweet love story of loss and hope and rebuilding.
This book blew me away! I read the Crossfire Series and wasn’t sure how this one would measure up to that. It did and so much more. I loved Teagan. She is a real person who is dealing with her own demons, and along comes Garrett and pulls the carpet right out from under her. She’s broken, but so is he. She is alone, but maybe with him, she doesn’t have to be any longer.
Butterfly in Frost will pull you in instantly and you won’t be able to stop until you reach the end. There were a few surprises I didn’t expect, and I had to pull out the tissues a couple of times, but wow! The book has characters that are relatable, a plot that is believable, and it is written in a way that you will become engrossed before you know it. It’s a beautiful and fantastic story that you do not want to miss. 5 stars and I suggest one clicking today!
From the first meeting of Garret Frost I was curious at what would cause a man to think he should act like he does. He approaches his neighbor in a more than neighborly way and I was so confused. Then things start to come together. I started figuring things out and loving how he was dating his neighbor. He was sweet, he was attentive, and he was winning me over. Then the ending happened, WOW!, I realized how clueless I really was. The twist at the end was perfect.
This is my first Sylvia Day book. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I loved the cover, loved the synopsis, so I thought I would give her a chance. I am so very thankful that I did. I started the book wondering what I was reading. I kept turning pages learning more about the characters and loving them together. The ending is what really got me. I had no clue, not even an inkling of where this story was going to end. I am now a fan of Sylvia Day’s. I am excited to read more of her work.
Confession time: It’s been years since I read a Sylvia Day book. But this blurb was so intriguing, I couldn’t resist. And boy did it take me on an emotional roller coaster ride!
Teagan is finally in a comfortable place when Garrett literally plows into her life. Their relationship highlights the precarious emotional ride that is depression.
This book hit me with all kinds of feelings. And the twist at the end was NOT one I saw coming.
NICUnurse’s Rating: I can’t say much more because I hate to spoil books and this one is definitely a book that is worth reading all the way through without knowing what is coming. I give Sylvia Day’s Butterfly in Frost 5 stars!
3.75 stars–BUTTERFLY IN FROST by Sylvia Day is a contemporary, adult, stand alone erotic romance novella focusing on artist Garrett Frost, and cosmetic surgeon Dr. Teagan Ransom. There is a slight cross-over with the author’s Crossfire series.
Told from first person perspective (Teagan Ransom) with one chapter from Garrett Frost BUTTERFLY IN FROST follows the building relationship between artist Garrett Frost, and cosmetic surgeon Dr. Teagan Ransom. The quick and unexpected sale of the house next door found Teagan Ransom face to face with artist Garrett Frost, a man who would be quickly consumed by our story line heroine. From the outset, Garrett is insistent about starting a relationship with our story line heroine. What ensues is the quick building romance and love between Garrett and Teagan, as the past is rapidly reaching towards the present.
Teagan Ransom struggles to move on from the past. Meeting Garrett Frost pulls Teagan out of her comfort zone but in doing so pushes Garrett beyond his own. Two broken and battered individuals come together in an effort to learn to live again, breaking the cycle of grief and loss. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.
We are introduced to Teagan’s neighbor and best friend Roxy and her husband Mike, as well as the appearance of Eva Cross, and by way of mention, Cary and Tatiana Cherlin (Crossfire series).
BUTTERFLY IN FROST is a quick read: an erotic, emotional and surprising story with a twist you will never see coming. The premise is captivating; the romance is seductive; the characters are broken, battered but beginning to heal. On that note, I was hoping for a little more detail with regards to the twist but such is in the nature of a novella length story,
This was my first Sylvia Day book since reading the Crossfire Series, and I must say I was really looking forward to this and hoping it lived up to the hype – I was not disappointed, I really enjoyed it! It is a relatively short read which I read in one sitting, but the storyline was very intriguing and kept my attention right the way through. A story about 2 broken people, its angsty, full of drama and will bring out a whole boatload of emotions in you as you read through their story.
Dr Teagan Ransom is the heroine of the story, and is friends with Ava and Gideon Cross and is currently working with them on a new skin care range. She was married to a famous movie star and is famous in her own right having had her own reality show having been her husband’s cosmetic surgeon after an accident. But their marriage hit problems and she has moved away from all that and out of the limelight, away from men. She has her own problems and suffers from severe depression which she struggles with on a daily basis.
Garrett Frost is a famous photographer and artist, and moves in next door to Teagan. Their paths cross and the attraction between them is instant. Garret is everything a man should be, hot, sexy, masculine and looks like a bad boy through and through – and Teagan has her hands full as Garrett sets his sights on her, and doesn’t beat around the bush letting her know! But Garrett is a broken man himself, hiding a painful and soul destroying past.
Beautifully written and covering some very sensitive and emotional topics, this will have your heart racing and pulse pounding with their sexual attraction and deliciously hot sexy scenes. Emotionally I felt for both characters and what they had been through, but be warned about the mega twist in the plot at the end – wow I really did not see that one coming!!!
Well worth giving this a go, definitely ticked the boxes for me.
5 Starting Over Stars!!!
Imagine my joy and shock when this beauty showed up on my kindle!!! I’m a lover of Ms. Day and have read and/or listend to The Crossfire Series multiple times. I’m not going to lie and say I wasn’t skeptical of this book and if it could capture me like Gideon and Eva did…well, I can happily report that not only did it capture my heart, it grabbed ALL my emotions!!
This book is a story of redemption, starting over and finding yourself after a loss that is one that no one should experience. Yes, I’m being purposely vague because I refuse to spoil this read for you.
I will tell you that this story is a wild ride of love, agony, pain, redemption and finding love when you thought it wasn’t possible. The minute I picked up this book I was completely and totally invested in Teagan and Garrett’s story. It’s not your run of the mill second chance story either. Ms. Day has woven a tale that literally had me gasping out loud at times!!!
If you’re a fan of Ms. Day and her ability to tell an intriguing, emotional and evocative story, then this book is a MUST READ for you!!
This story is going to take you down a rabbit hole….
Ms. Day is going to send you on a trip of sorrow, grief and a love so strong it transcends the grips of grief that threatens to drag down the main characters.
This is the story of Garrett and Teagan. Two lost souls that find comfort in one another.
There is a huge twist that is going to rock your world, you are soooo not gonna see it coming and when you do it’s going to blow you away.
This is a fast moving story, at first I was a little hesitant about it. But then when the story came to its moving conclusion, I totally saw the forest for the trees. I saw the meaning behind the quickness and it really brought this story home for me. I will definitely be re-reading this in the future with my eyes wide open. Trust me when I say you will too!
I fell in love with Ms. Day’s stories with the Crossfire series and seeing some characters make an appearance in this story was lovely to read. Like a little reunion!
Do yourself a favor and read this book with an open mind and and open heart, you won’t be disappointed!
I loved this book. I loved Sylvia Day’s story of Gideon and Ava so I thought I would give this one a try. It did not disappoint. I fell in love with the characters, story and especially the ending.
Truly enjoyed the twist at the end.
