Her Touch is perfect…ChanceNo longer New York’s favorite, I’m in a tight spot. The car accident did far worse than mess up my knee, it ruined a sweet deal. I’d had a few beers and that groupie was dressed to kill. Now, there’s only a few weeks to rehab my image and my knee or kiss my career goodbye. That’s when I overhear my far-too innocent physical therapist on the phone and offer up a … therapist on the phone and offer up a win-win deal.
Melanie
He may be a hotshot in his world but I’m a rising star in mine. Everything was going fine until my deadbeat boyfriend locked me out and stole everything I own. Homeless, what can I do but agree to the famous quarterback’s offer? I figure as long as s@x is off the table, no harm can come from his offer.
Why oh why, didn’t I think this through? Engagements mean family time and there’s no way I can go home, not with my issues.
Note: Busted Play is a super-sexy, fast-moving sports romance and does NOT contain cliffhangers. HEA guaranteedmore
Good story lots of drama. I like CJ. Accidents and mistakes happen. I know this was meant to be short but I wish that more happened to her shit hole family. Especially since they are in the public eye. Love Mel and CJ together.
The story is decent, writing ok and there is a happy ending for the relationship. But, there is some very serious subject matter that unfolds about Melanie that brings down the whole sexy vibe. It’s sort of saved by CJ’s declaration of love for Mel
I loved listening to this book. The characters were excellent and I loved the growth that took place between Melanie and Chance. I love the author for tackling the topic that most are not comfortable writing. I also, love the narration. Most of this book will have you listen to each detail til the end. Can’t wait for the next book.
I really enjoyed this quick insta-love story. The characters are fun and I easily became invested in them. The story is different. It involves desperation….which we know makes people so crazy things.
I did listen to this on audio. Jonathan Winters did a good job. He is easy to listen to.
Busted Play
Players, Book 1
By: Stella Marie Alden
Narrated by: Jonathan Waters
I never know what to expect with new authors and novellas. Well I can tell you, Stella Marie Alden nails the novella with Busted Play. Great, well developed characters and a wonderful story line all packed into a short listen. We meet Melanie as her boyfriend locks her out of her apartment. Now homeless with none of her belongings, she clings onto her job as a physical therapist to vault her into a good reputation, and as a result a good financial position. She just has to keep the most current client, CJ. A famous, cocky football player, this man has some issues. And between what he has overheard Melanie talking about and his own, he thinks he may have the solution. Will they both benefit from his offer? These two are complex, yet easy to get to know. It’s quick, instalove, sexy and has some relevant issues that happen far too often in today’s society. Alden writes with compassion and love.
This is my first listen by Jonathan Waters, and I really enjoyed his narration. He has a great voice, easy to distinguish between characters and has a great pace. He tunes into CJ and Melanie, gives them all the feels and lets us enjoy their heat as well as their turmoil. A great performance.

Ok, I fell in love with Mel & CJ from the beginning. Melanie is down on her luck after a bad breakup & a brutal ghost in her family closet. CJ, well, he’s a pro football player with PR problems. Two unlikely people, with crazy friends & family, enter into a relationship, hellbent on fixing their screwed up lives. This book was hot, erotic and sexy as hell, but I was surprised as to how emotional it made me feel. Stella is a new author for me, but I will definitely be checking into her other books!!
A heartwarming faced paced well written sports themed fake relationship romance. It has a strong plot, great chemistry, full of emotion, lots of surprises and some sexy scenes. The characters are interesting and likeable. I found myself chuckling and on the edge of my seat a few times as they overcome obstcles to get to a HEA. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC.
This is the first book that I have read from this author, and I received a free advanced copy.
The story starts with Melanie having a really bad day. She comes home from work as a sports physical therapist, to find her boyfriend has not only changed the locks on the door, despite her having paid the rent since he has been out of work, but he will not only not let her in, but will not let her get her things. With nowhere else to go, she ends up at a women’s shelter. She had fled from Iowa to NYC for a good reason, but we don’t find out what that is until half way through the story.
Hotshot football player Chance was recently in an automobile accident, when he was not only injured, but finds out that the woman who came on to him was only 16 years old. So he needs to rehab not only his knee, but his reputation. He is not thrilled when he finds out that Melanie is his therapist, but after his first session, realizes that she is a miracle worker. When he finds out what happened to her, he makes a proposal: that they enter into a fake temporary marriage, so she has somewhere to live and he improves his reputation. She reluctantly agrees, with rules, but quickly wants to throw out the rules. Their chemistry is dynamic, so will they continue with their plan, or make the marriage real? Will they misunderstand the other’s behavior, or open up to find love?
The characters are well developed, including the secondary ones and the conflicts are real. The author weaves a difficult issue into the story. The story ends with a HEA, but the first 2 Chapters of the next book in the series are included and instead of moving on to another couple, more roadblocks are placed in their path.
