It’s important to know our history and how it influences today!
A must-read for every American. Downright tragic. A horrifying and true history of our nation.
So informative and heart wrenching
I had no idea of the depths of depravity that drove white settlers and U.S. Army soldiers to systematically eradicate whole tribes of Indians. It is a serious stain on our history that we have so treated indigenous people in this way.
A tragedy in American history.
About the third of fourth time I’ve read this. A sad story of the American west.
A historical classic outlining the fight of the American Indian to survive in the White Man’s world.

An excellent view from the Native American’s perspective of how the United States government was quick to offer treaties that were invalid from the beginning.
The results are tragic, but I knew the outcome before picking up the book. Now I also know how the Indians viewed the conflict.
I loved this book. I could not put it down. This book really gave me a different perspective on the events detailed in the book.
Excellent and haunting.

Frankly, after reading it, I was embarrassed and very troubled about the acts of genocide perpetrated on the Indians. Every American should read this book to gain an understanding of what we did to ensure it never happens again – here or anywhere in …

This is an older book, but no less important today. I knew some of this in general, but not the detail Brown provides. It is shocking and heart breaking, but a vital read.

Such a troubling book. I read it years ago and I’ve never forgotten the impact it had on me. Such cruelty as the white man intentionally wiped out the red man so they could steal all his land.
