This is the turning point… laughable, but the woman who owns the bar thinks differently. Meanwhile she’s met a much younger man who is undermining all her good intentions.
As the past catches up with the present, terrible memories rise to the surface. Can she untangle the threads of her life before it’s too late, or will her dreams be lost forever in the web closing in around her?

This is an interesting story about rebirth and rediscovery of life. It is a story that has many many layers to it and some interesting situations that I was not expecting.
I enjoy stories by this author – this one is just a little different than I expected. One of the problems I had was the Protagonist’s friend. Oh my gosh, I wanted to yell and tell her (the friend) how horrible she really is. With friends like her, who needs enemies.
The characters in this story are all flawed (just like everyone in life) and at times this story seemed so realistic while other times it was super mystical. There are definitely interesting metaphors in the story. At times I was cheering Columbine on and other times I was rolling my eyes at her.
There is a story within a story that was interesting to read along with the main story.

The first book I read by this author I claimed might just have been my favorite of the year and that has not changed, this one is totally different which has led me to believe that this author can write anything in any genre. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I read the synopsis and as I read I kept getting deeper and deeper and found that I could not put this book down. I never knew from one minute to the next what was going to happen.
This was a fast moving story with many OMG moments and even more emotions. I think I felt every emotion that has a name and then even some I can’t explain. I felt totally out of control through most of the book, not much different then what Collie was feeling and as her dreams progressed and she had trouble working out whether things that happened were a dream or reality, I found myself wondering the same thing. I had a bit of trouble connecting to any of the secondary characters, well except for Tim but so did Collie and I think the author did this on purpose because it helped bring me into the story that much more and I seriously wanted to slap a few people upside the head more than once.
I absolutely loved this book and I loved the journey I feel like I was on with Collie, I really didn’t want it to end and I can not wait to read more from this author, she has definitely joined my list of doesn’t matter what she writes I’ll read it and I highly recommend you giving this one a go.
I Loved It!!!

Burning Night: Where the Ashes of the Past Awaken the Future- by Nikki Broadwell is a wonderful story full of new beginnings, self-discovery, determination, strength, a little romance, some drama, creativity, and so much more. This story is a little bit different from some of the other books of Ms. Broadwells that I have read, so I was quite intrigued by what I might find. But, it surprised me and was much more than I had been expecting- as with all the other books of hers that I’ve read, this one is well written, descriptive, and beautifully detailed. The characters are unique, interesting, and quirky individuals- cleverly crafted to be entirely realistic and believable. The story has some mysteriousness to it, and moments of suspensefulness too- which really added interest that helps to propel the story forward.
I really liked meeting Collie and following her on her journey. She was vulnerability, fragility, strength, and determination all rolled into one- and even though she didn’t have it easy, she didn’t give up. She definitely developed and grew over the course of the story, and it was wonderful to watch. Dive in blind and let the author, characters and story, take you on a journey you won’t forget anytime soon.
As always, I look forward to more from this talented author!
Thank you, Ms. Broadwell!
I loved this book! It is a dark story about an abused woman trying to find herself again. I loved how this author pulled me in right from the beginning and made me feel as if I was right there with Collie. She is my favorite and took me on an emotional roller coaster ride right along with her as she traveled on her journey. There are a few twists and turns that I didn’t see coming and left me turning pages faster. This is a fast paced story that I highly recommend you read.

The story Burning Night by Nikki Broadwell is a contemporary fiction book. It is a story that I enjoyed reading. It drew in my attention from the very beginning and I found myself turning pages to find out what happens next. I enjoyed reading about the character of Collie. She is a woman who is fleeing her home and abusive relationship. She is smart and is learning that she needs to take better care of herself by casting off the man and relationship that has given her low self-esteem. Collie is writing a book and I love how even with all that she goes through in the story that is something that she doesn’t waver in trying to complete. She keeps plugging away all throughout the book. There are parts of this book that have heartbreaking memories for Collie. There are also times when she is in need of rescue and it comes from an unlikely source. Collie learns of a festival called Burning Night. She decides that she wishes to go. Will she find her way there? Read this book to find out if Collie finds the happiness and freedom that she deserves. Also, find out if a relationship with a younger man is in her future or will the two of them go their separate ways. This story does have a bit of mystery and times of suspense when I would wonder what was going to happen next. There are events and twists to Collie’s life that I didn’t see coming. This is a wonderfully written story and one that I would recommend reading.
