For Callie Moore, it’s a day-to-day struggle to live in a town where everyone thinks she’s the worst person on earth— thanks to rumors. Divorced, living with her ailing dad, and the scars of finding her ex-husband in bed with not one, but two, of her friends, have her on a downward spiral. Her immediate problems outweigh her concern over the rough and gruff biker her dad hires to help out at the … out at the gas station. No matter how attractive she finds Kent, he’s only another person she needs to defend herself against.
A drifter his whole life, Kent Calder can live anywhere as long as he has his motorcycle and a road in front of him.
Stopping at Moore’s Gas Station was only a pit stop on a road trip with no destination. A way to put a few dollars in his pocket. He has no plans to stay in Missoula, where drama and rudeness from the locals is a way of life.
Until the talk centers around Callie, and he sees what the lies are doing to her.
If she can’t stand up for herself, he’ll fight for her. But as soon as he stomps out one fire, another one pops up.
Through attraction, heartache, devastation, and time, the flames between Kent and Callie only grow hotter.

Callie is hurt by vicious rumors her ex has spread around town. She has stopped defending herself and relies only on her dad. Kent is a drifter who never stays in one place for too long. When he realises how much the lies have destroyed her, he wants to fight for her even though she has given up. Callie is afraid to put her trust in Kent, she believes he will turn against her like everyone else did, besides he won’t be around for too long. Kent understands that Callie isn’t ready yet for his emotions and he has to be strong for both of them. They’ve drifted through life searching for each other! Will rumors tear them apart? An emotional and captivating story with fascinating characters! The plot is gripping and Kent and Callie are authentic in their emotions and reactions! They face struggles but are honest with each other! Their story spoke to my heart.
Debra Kayn did not disappoint with this book! I love the books in this series, how it’s retro so to speak and before the Hero joins the club. Kane and Callie are such a great couple! I look forward to reading Book 3!
The second book in the Tarkio MC series. This was more of an origin story telling us how this couple became immersed in MC life. I really enjoyed this book and the characters. Callie has had it bad the last few years of her life. Dealing with a jerk ex who has been spreading vicious rumors about her around town and her ailing father Callie has her hands full. Kent has landed in Missoula after being laid off looking for work. A chance pit stop ends up leading him to the woman of his dreams. He just has to convince her she’s worth it. A great book with amazing characters you’ll love.
Burning Hot Rumors is the second book in the Tarkio MC series. Callie lives and helps her dad run the gas station after her divorce. Kent is a drifter who ends up staying in town and helping out at the gas station. While there Kent and Callie end up falling for each other but neither saying anything to the other about their feelings. Kent feels that Callie isn’t ready for a relationship with everything she is dealing with such as her ex-husband and his rumors that turned the town against her and her father getting sick. Her father asks Kent to watch out for Callie. I loved how Kent helped Callie find herself again. This was another great read from Debra and can’t wait to see whats next from the Tarkio MC.
Burning Hot Rumors Is book two in the Tarkio Mc Series. As with all Debra Kayn’s book this one is very well written, great story line and amazing characters. I couldn’t put this one down. I was sucked in from the beginning. Burning Hot Rumors will run you through every emotion you can think of, and probably some you won’t. Rumors can destroy someones life and sometimes it can lead you to everything you’ve ever wanted and needed. I won’t go into summarizing the book for you, but this one is a must read. It is a standalone, but some of the characters are introduced in the first book. Which is also an amazing read. Do yourself a favor a grab a copy today.
An amazing story. Post-Viet Nam Callie works alongside her ailing father in their roadside gas station and a small store. Divorced in a small town and with the lies from her ex she hides from the rumors and treatment of the townspeople. She’s broken.
Kent stops by to fill his motorcycle tank and ask if they need help. She sends him on his way but her dad hires him. So begins his observations of the ex (such a jerk) and townspeople. He is a rover never staying long before moving on.
This story compels the emotions of the reader from lows to highs. You want Callie to fight but see how defeated she is. With her father so ill and her only relative, you feel for her and want Kent to be there. He’s never had or wanted a serious relationship and he doesn’t want one now so why does Callie pull him in?
He is befriended by the local MC club who will play an important part in their future. I loved the story, the characters, and how they change their lives.
This well written story with its intriguing characters will give you an emotional ride. I became totally immersed from page one. OMG, I wanted to yell at Callie at times and tell her to stand up for herself! Everyone needs a Kent in their life and so glad he came in hers. Loved how the story ended.
I this new series the idea is the story before they joined the MC and it is brilliant. We get a glimpse at what lead to the decision to become part of a biker family and we get to watch the beautiful relationships grow. I loved this story and couldn’t put it down. It has steam, intrigue, a bad ass on a Harley and a woman is through the worst life throws at her she remains a good and decent person.
An engaging story that gets you from the start. Kent’s a drifter never settling for long anywhere. He never imagined making a pit stop at Moore’s Gas Station would change the direction of his life. One that included staying in place. Nor did he expect the pull he felt toward Callie. Callie and her father own the gas station. With the exception of her dad, her day to day life has been a struggle. Thanks to her ex and his influential rumors she’s been painted as the town harlot. Denying her attraction to Kent is the only way to protect herself or so she thought. He’s there for her whether she needs him or not. Loved!!! It has such a realistic feel with the small town drama, vicious ex, tragedy, healing and love.
