She wasn’t going to date him, no matter how hard he tried to convince her otherwise. There was too much to lose if she gave in.It wasn’t fair. No man should be allowed to be that gorgeous. Certainly not the sexy firefighter who she was supposed to be keeping at bay. Women’s eggs dropped at the sight of him. But not hers. Nope. Grace had things to do—finishing med school and keeping her nose clean … school and keeping her nose clean for her upcoming residency match, to name a few—and she wasn’t going to let anything or anyone derail her this time.
No matter how broad his shoulders were. Or how perfectly styled his messy hair was.
Or what his sexy grin did to her insides. It. Was. Not. Happening.
It couldn’t.
Getting involved with Ryan Kennedy almost guaranteed her face would be plastered all over Page Six. She couldn’t afford to be in the gossip section again. Not now. There was too much at stake.
But the sexy firefighter seemed determined to burn her resolve to the ground.
And staying away was starting to feel like an impossibility…

I received an ARC of this book and am leaving a voluntary, honest review. I absolutely loved this book and I couldn’t put it down until I was done reading it. This is a second chance romance and I’m not going to reveal any spoilers, other than just check it out for yourself. It’s worth the read!!!

Another great addition to the San Diego Social Scene series. Ryan and Grace were so good together and the story line was full of chemistry and suspenseful “what is going to happen” moments. Tess Summers always keeps it interesting!!!
Although this book is part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone, but I would recommend all the books in this series! 🙂
Not sure where I’ve been but this is the first time, I’ve read anything by this author, it won’t be the last. I loved this book, the humor, emotion, plot and characters are all perfect.

Ryan met Grace at his bachelor/ette party where they talked all night. He knew the moment that he met her that she was the one he was meant to be with. Grace, however was not convinced. Grace had been rocked by lies and scandal when she was younger and swore she would never experience that again. Can Ryan convince her to take a chance?
This story kept me entertained and intrigued as we watched Ryan and Grace fight for a relationship. It kept me reacding to see what would happen next.
This newest addition to the San Diego Social Scene series was a wonderful read from the first page until the end. A hot firefighter and a smart medical student, Ryan didn’t know what hits him when he meets Grace for the first time. I loved how the author developed their character’s growth with drama, sizzling chemistry and a love that blossoms to so much more. A great storyline with great characters made this a must read. I can’t wait for more in this series that doesn’t disappoint.
This is book 6 in the San Diego social scene series. Grace was caught up in a scandal years prior so she is very cautious. Will ryan be able to get through to her?

Really good read!!
While I really got annoyed with Grace about not wanting to share her relationship once it started, I loved her and Ryan!!
And it had a good wrench in the whole matter!

This is the 6th book in this phenomenal series and is Ryan and Grace’s story. Grace is in her final year of medical school, and Ryan is a firefighter. These two meets at Ryan’s bachelor / bachelorette party, and from the moment they meet he knows that she is the one for him. Even though Ryan ends his engagement mutually with his ex, Grace is not prepared to get into any relationship straight away. This is a beautifully written story which is filled with drama, emotions, and explosive chemistry. I was captivated throughout this addictive page turner and I highly recommend for all readers.
ONE HOT LITTLE NUMBER!!!
Combustible! Tess blasted this baby through the stars, around the moon, jetting into infinity with this sinfully composed hot little number, riding one sizzling storyline and enticing plot, keeps you riveted and frozen to your seat, fusing this gem together seamlessly. Blurred lines and crossed boundaries, expectations are weighed and balanced, flinging this little gem forward without a hitch, kicking it into overdrive, booting it into a tailspin with an mind-blowing culmination. Quirky mishaps and surprising happenstance swirl with the simmering trials and sensual tribulations, spinning alongside the compelling twists and wicked turns, putting our characters through their paces, testing them in ways they could have never imagined. Braided, bound and entangled, displaying the explosive ups and agonizing downs, grounding in it’s strength and awe inspiring in it’s depth. The attraction and chemistry strengthens as each layer is peeled back exposing an undeniable connection, binding them to one another perfectly. The characters are complex and authentic with qualities and traits that add depth transforming into relatable personalities. The scenes are written with such imagination and unique insight that gives you a vivid understanding and makes the storyline pop. Fabulous job Tess, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
4 1/2 stars – This was my first book I’ve read by this author and I enjoyed reading this story about Ryan and Grace. Ryan who is engaged meets Grace during the his bachelor/bachelorette party. They strike up a conversation and Ryan realizes he can’t get married because Grace is “The One” for him. Ryan is the Fire Captain of his station and very popular and Grace is in her last semester of medical school and doesn’t know what hospital she will go to and she doesn’t want the scandal of being the women who broke Ryan’s engagement, so she wants to remain friends only, but the chemistry between them is hot. Will Ryan change Grace’s mind and give them a chance? I volunteer to read and review this ARC via Booksprout.
This was a great read about Ryan and Grace. Ryan meets Grace at his and his fiancé’s bachelor/bachelorette party and knows she is “the one.” He calls off his wedding but Grace is not willing to jump right into a relationship with Ryan until some time has passed. Grace comes from a prominent family and has had bad experience with gossip before. Grace is starting her last year of medical school and Ryan is a fire fighter. These two burn bright but this book also has all the feels. Great way to spend an afternoon!
3.5 Stars
The story line was good, the character work was great, and the book had a fairly smooth flow to it. This was a quick fun read, which entertains from beginning to end.

I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just could not get enough of it and once I started reading it I could not put it down. I recommend that you read it.

Grace meets Ryan on his bachelor party night. They click immediately., Ryan calls off his wedding, but Grace does not want to be known as the one who broke up his marriage. Good read and romance.

Grace and Ryan’s journey to couple-hood is paved with road blocks and pot holes. A couple that was meant to be together, but Grace’s fears keep popping up and derailing the relationship. It was nice to see a hero that was so strong and caring instead of just riding over Grace’s feelings. I’m looking forward to seeing some of the other characters’ stories.
So hot, so emotional!
Love, love, love this book! Ryan and Grace are so much more emotional than I was expecting! Heart pounding drama and soul scorching sexy times make this book un-put-downable! I’m still thinking about this couple days later!
Ryan’s world tipped upside down when he met Grace at his bachelor/bachelorette party. They ended up talking all night long and he knew he couldn’t go through with his engagement. Talking to his finance she agreed they were better as friends and they called off the wedding. He show’s up at his friends house the next day who are also friends of Grace’s and tells them he called off his wedding because he has found “the one”. Grace!
Ryan and Grace realized they had so much in common, so in his mind he thought this would be so easy however Grace had been caught up in a gossip scandal years prior that impacted her whole prominent family that she was afraid she would again be scandalized and accused of wrecking his engagement.
Ryan a Fire Captain, is liked by all and Grace is in her last semester of medical school and has no idea where she will do her 4 years of residency. There is so much chemistry between them that neither really wants to let go. Their friends see this and try to help out by throwing them together all the time. She’s given Ryan a time frame of when she thinks it might be ok to date. Will being around each other change that? Can they just be friends? Will they be caught together?
An event happens. Can they make it through it?
I enjoyed Ryan and Grace’s story and loved their best friends, Maddie and Craig and how far they go to “help” their friends. Can’t wait to hear about Sloan!
I received an ARC from the author for an honest review of this book. I would give it 4 1/2 stars if I could!
Burning Her Resolve – San Diego Social Scene, Book 6 – Tess Summers
Grace Ericson meets Ryan Kennedy the night of his joint bachelor/bachelorette party. The next morning, Ryan shows up at Grace’s friends house to tell their mutual friends Maddie and Craig that he has called off his wedding because he found “the One!” Uh yeah, the one being Grace!
Let’s be clear here, no fiancé’s feelings were hurt in the cancelling of the above wedding, the now unengaged couple actually mutually agreed to call off the wedding.
Since they had spend most of the prior evening talking about a variety of subjects together, and since Ryan is sure that Grace is “The One” and since there is an obvious interest on both parts, you would think (as Ryan does) that this should be easy, this spending time and learning more about Grace. It however, is anything but easy! Grace was caught up in a gossip rag scandal a few years prior and it took a toll on her family and her. The last thing she wants is for the same gossip rag to catch wind of an engagement being ended because of her. She doesn’t think she could stand it, on top of the fact that she is about to finish off medical school then head into her first residency. No, as much as Ryan is tall, handsome, sexy and has dimples, she can’t, no will not put herself through that again.
But, there is that draw, that chemistry, the easy going air about that handsome Fire Captain that always brings her around to wanting to spend time with Ryan, even when she works overtime to keep herself from following her feelings for him.
Friends can sometimes be your worst nightmare. Especially friends who are constantly throwing Ryan and Grace together, they mean well, but do these things help Grace keep her distance or just prove that she can have a relationship and the gossip rags be damned.
Tess Summers has written a wonderful story of two souls, one who is so sure and one who is so cautious, then takes them for a wild ride of sass, snuggling, playing in the snow, and chemistry that makes their physical attraction go right off the charts. Are they really meant to be together or will they make it through that could make them stronger or break them apart?
I was given an advanced reader copy of this book to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is my 1st book by Tess Summers and what a book. Meeting Grace turned Ryan’s world upside down and he just knows she felt the connection…but…Grace has fear wrapped up in her mind and won’t let herself trust her feelings. These 2 have such an explosive chemistry can they get thru all of the obstacles to a love like no other?? Loved it!!
I volunteered an honest review for this book.
I have been waiting for this book for a long time and it did not disappoint. Tess Summers creates characters and story lines that grab the reader and won’t let them go until the book is finished. I liked the story of Ryan and Grace, even in Craig and Maddie’s story and was waiting very impatiently for their story to come out.
I had difficulty understanding Grace’s reasoning behind waiting to date Ryan for a year because of tabloids and paparazzi (that part was a little off for me). I understand that she had a bad time but then to finally let go of her worries, get with the guy and then hide her from her parents? This seemed like a weak spot in the plot for me, and put a damper on a great love story up until that point. I do like how the. author redeemed Grace’s character in the end when she owned up to her relationship with Ryan in the biggest and grandest way possible.
