I enjoyed reading Burning for Autumn. It was a fast paced, easy, suspenseful read. I loved how it was Keith Blackfoot’s story. I’ve read the Rock Point series which is about Durango’s FBI. By reading it I had the chance to get to know some of the characters who make an appearance in this book. I loved seeing Keith who comes off as a tough hardass. Also has a sweet side when he finds the right lady. Autumn is a tell it like she sees it kind of women. Extremely independent and will put up a fight if necessary. Her move to Durango is planned to be a short one. That is until her secret admirer sets her world on fire. Which turns her life as a single cat elady in her forties upside down. This series is a must read. I’m looking fwd to reading the next book, Covering Ollie.
I loved this book. Once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down. Action, suspense, and plenty of steam combine to make this one must read!!!! Keith and Autumn are terrific. First time reading this author but not the last.

I love the stories that overlap but yet are stand alones. This story has a little of everything, sweet romance, sexy overbearing and frustrating alpha male and a beautiful woman who has the right heart and spirit. Thoroughly enjoying and entertaining. A great boxed set.

This book will have your heart pounding, stomach gripping and mind whirling. It is excitement from the first page. I haven’t read this author before and seeing Susan Stoker recommend this book, I had to give it a try. It’s great! There are well written sensual scenes; there is intense mystery; there is romance and plenty of excellent conversation. Fires, mayhem and disaster going on and it is Chief of Police Keith Blackfoot and his intensity that makes for a great story-line. Then, it seems the focus of the fires, threats and mystery begins to center around Autumn McCoy who works at the local hospital. The author kept me guessing as to just who was at fault for all the disasters. Thanks for a great read.
I found this to be a superb storyline that grabs you right from the start keeping you engrossed and on edge throughout the whole book!
Great characters that will keep your interest extremely well.
The chemistry, sweetness, and twists in plot kept things interesting.
Add in drama and steamy passion and you have a good read.

The first in a new series by Freya Barker? Yes, I think I will and I’m so glad I did. Freya Barker writes a great story with everything you want, suspense, heat and with rich characters full of depth and maturity.
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters were interesting. Keith is a temporary chief of police and does not want the job permanently. Autumn is in town for burns victims and was asked to go to the pub. While at the pub Autumn and Keith meet each other. Autumn has a problem that every where she goes there seems to be a lot of fires, Keith wants to get to the problem before his own town is under fire.

I really like Autumn there is more to her than you first see. As the story develops you really get to know her. I think Keith is great! What a wonderful story. I love how the story progresses and develops!
This is the first book in the Police and Fire: Operation Alpha Male series. First off, the name of the series says it all, you are in for a good reading time. The author lives up to this great series name in the first book by introducing us to Durango and in particular Miss Autumn McCoy and interim Chief of Police – Keith Blackfoot. Autumn has moved to Durango after accepting a temporary work contract with the hopes of adding some spicy and experience to her life. However, this move proves to add a little too much as she finds herself in danger in a couple different ways. This was a fast paced story that keeps you turning them pages and trying to figure out what is going to happen next and the impact it will have on its characters. I really enjoyed reading it and had a hard time fitting in real life moments. I cannot wait for the next book.

WE have me tthese characters in previous books by Susan Stoker but now she gets her own
Autumn takes a short term job at Durango at the burn unit She is thrown in the path of acting Police Chief Keith Blackfoot He is disappearing under a mountain of paperwork and has no intention of making the job permanent When he runs into Autumn there is fireworks but as an arsonist threatens to engulf the city they will have to work together if they hope to survive and on the way These two older romantic leads are both set in their ways so there is fire in more than one way in this great read
I’m so glad that Keith got his book! I have been crushing on him for a few books now even though he was a minor character in that series. Not that you need to read those to appreciate this. Keith Blackfoot has met his match in Autumn. She is as feisty as any woman with a career like hers and the tell of her red hair. She is on a temporary assignment to establish a burn unit in Keith’s town. The moment they meet, I can feel the fireworks and the sizzle. I loved the extra added intrigue with the arson case on going. It seems Keith isn’t the only one to have noticed Autumn.
This romantic suspense novel had great danger and mystery with some great humor. The story will have you guessing the entire time and when you think you figured something, there’s another twist. Autumn is sassy, snarky and a strong character; however at time she was bit much for me. Autumn and Keith made for a great couple. I received an advanced copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a honest, unbiased review.
Autumn takes a temporary position at a hospital in Durango, and meets Keith, acting police chief. They have terrific chemistry, even as they battle each other. They’re both very strong personalities – he’s definitely too alpha, and she’s very independent. The story isn’t just about their romance, though; it’s a real thriller. Who’s setting all the fires? And what’s the connection to Autumn? No spoilers here, but I love the surprise at the end. This is my first read from this author, but it certainly won’t be the last.

This is part of the Police and Fire: Operation Alpha& On Call series and I know I want to read the next book. Once I started reading I was not putting it down. Autumn McCoy and interim Chief of Police, Keith Blackfoot’s story has suspense, drama, danger, kidnapping, arson, murder, a evil man, and romance. I recommend this book. Autumn comes to town on a one year assignment with the burn center. Having lived through a burn trauma herself as a teen, she well understands the physical and emotional pains and challenges.
Interim Police Chief Keith Blackfoot is a chance encounter at a pub mentioned to her by Evan, another first responder- a fire fighter who feels like a brother to her right away. Her exchange with Blackfoot is intense and a bit awkward- so next t brotherly though. Autumn stops herself before storming away entirely, and apologizes for sowing some of her bad day on Blackfoot. Small but town. Inevitable they will see each other again.
Ironically, when friends of hers from out of town come to visit her, her friend Chief already knows Blackfoot and invites him to join them for an event my out.
A rash of arson in the area keeps Keith pretty busy and distracted- but he and Autumn manage to begin to fall for each other anyway.
Their mutual connections to the fires hit lethally and close to home, before some of the other small town connections become clear.
A steamy and bumpy ride, they might not die from, but could still break them as a couple if they don’t work at keeping together while trying to protect their hearts and independence.
A frightening but yummy read!

I just love Autumn partly because she has great sass, is a cat lover and is super smart but also because of her age! So many books are about young woman and it so refreshing to have an average aged woman looking for love. Keith is also great with his Alpha attitude and just wanting to get back to being a detective and solving crime especially now that Autumn has piqued his interest and appears to be in danger. There is a bit of everything for you in this book as well as a great pace so you won’t be disappointed and will be left wanting to down load book 2 Covering Ollie!

I really enjoyed this book it is the first one in this new series and it had me absolutely hooked I could not put it down and ended up reading it in one sitting. The storyline is really good and Keith and Autumn were really great characters and I enjoyed getting to know them. He is the chief of police and she has moved to town while she interns at the Burn Center Annex. Now they have an arsonist they need to catch. A super read I can’t wait for the next book
Freya Barker is rapidly rising up my list of favourite authors. Her plots are intriguing, her characters likable and the romance is hot. You are kept guessing with false clues and misdirection.
This story focuses on Keith and Autumn. She has moved to the area for work and he is the cop turned interim chief of police. Her sassy attitude keep the interest her flaming hair attracted. Being in their 40s they soon discover that older does not always mean wiser in matters of the heart. The glimpse of attraction between the secondary characters leads nicely to who I hope star in the next book
