From USA Today bestselling author Willow Winters comes an emotionally gripping, standalone, second chance romance. He made me a promise. And then he broke it. That’s what happens with your first love. I didn’t expect for Derek to fall back into my life and for me to fall back into his bed. Time changes a lot of things, but it doesn’t change everything. It doesn’t change the way he makes my heart …
It doesn’t change the way he makes my heart skip or the way my lungs stop when he stares deep into my eyes.
It didn’t change his bad boy ways either and I should be smart enough to tell him no this time around.
I should be, I know what it’s like to be burned by him.
But it’s so hard to walk away when his touch begs me to stay and the pain in his eyes cuts me deeper than anything else in this world.

I loved this story that has steamy scenes but is also filled with heartache, heartbreak and a love that never died.
Willow Winters tells a story that will capture you right from the beginning, not wanting to stop till you’re done and want you coming back for more
Sexy, emotional, beautiful second chance romance. Love this bad boy-good girl romance!
4.5 Promised Stars
Burned Promises is a short story but like anything that Willow writes, it packs a punch. This story focuses on the good girl, Emma and the bad boy, DerekThey had a secret relationship years ago but Emma saw the dark path he was travelling and severed the relationship by walking away
Fast forward five years and he pops up in a place she never would’ve expected and for them both it appears as though the feelings they had have never left either
Derek and Emma’s story is another very intense read by this talented author.
It contains so much melancholy, so much angst and anguish that I felt torn and heartbroken myself.
A reunion after five years of separation rekindles all those feelings and sparks from their past, and Emma fights them with everything she has because she is afraid of Derek’s business …
Whether or not there’s a chance for him to win her back that you have to read for yourself…
I loved this intense second chance romance, and I loved these lively characters as well. Ms. Winters has a way of using words and moods that is really unique. She never disapoints with her writing and she didn’t this time either.
I really liked this book. It was heartbreaking but I love second chances! It was well written, I just wish there was more. I can’t quite put my finger on what it was but I felt like it was missing something. But regardless it was great!
3 1/2 Stars
Derek and Emma fell for each other and then went their separate ways and nobody knew. This wasn’t a bad book by any means but Emma tended to get on my nerves for time to time. I just couldn’t connect with her like in wanted too.
A good read overall. A little on the fast ending side that made it difficult to believe it was actually ending after seeming like a story that was on the slow side – kind of left you thinking “Oh – I guess it was a happily ever after.”
BURNED PROMISES is a standalone, second-chance romance. Emma Fletcher & Derek Wade were secret high school sweethearts. No one was to know that the bad boy Derek was secretly seeing the good girl Emma. He called her his high school sweetheart, but that was not what she could ever be. Their relationship was a secret with stolen kisses in the back of his car. They weren’t suppose to be together. And they made sure to hide it. She didn’t realize he kept following his bad boy ways. He made her a promise and then he broke it.
Five years later and Derek was suddenly back in her life. Before he had tried to hide what he did and why he did it, but now was different. He was no longer just a drug dealer, but now he ran their hometown. He let her walk away once, but that’s not going to happen again. He admits to not being a knight in shining armor, but he promises never to hurt her or let anyone else hurt her either. And this time he openly lets her in. Derek’s kept big secret, was that his mother had cancer. He promised his mom as a young boy, that he would do anything to make her well.
I hate cancer and how many wonderful people die way too young. Cancer doesn’t discriminate between young or old. It doesn’t care if your male or female, black or white. We all are vulnerable! We should all work on finding a cure.
A great storyline! Hard to put down! Intense and Emotional! Hot Chemistry! I truly enjoyed this read! Get it and Read it!
Needed more depth. Felt like everything happened too quick and just ended
I first read this story in the Begging for Bad Boys box set. and yes its still a Brilliant Story Willow couldn’t put it down again, The story about Emma and Derek, they both have some Issues of there pasts that they need to work through to see if they can have a HEA or go there separate ways.
