A Number One Amazon Bestseller in Thriller and Suspense Action Fiction!
Jackson has two passions: fighting fires and Blaire. One love is deadly and unpredictable while the other is sweet and innocent. Except that Blair has a past that is far from innocent and it is catching up to her in ways she never expected. Even worse, Jackson’s heroin-addicted brother threatens to destroy their relationship … their relationship more than any fire ever could.
Fighting fires is something Jackson knows how to handle—he has trained for it and can face down any threat with a clear head. Opening himself up and being vulnerable in a relationship is another matter entirely and he isn’t sure how to be totally honest with Blaire about his own rough childhood. When Blaire narrowly escapes a fire, hard choices must be made. Jackson must choose between his family alliances or lose the only woman he has ever loved.

Terrific Story & Narration Captivating & Intense!
Burned
Scorching Heat, Book 1
By: Callie Bardot
Narrated by: Dan Viens
Wow, this book takes you on one amazing, angsty and intense ride and I enjoyed every minute of it. Callie Bardot is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style, the story and characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. Her descriptive details brings in to the story along side the characters to see what they are seeing feeling and thinking. Jackson and Blaire are a couple living together and in love, but both have secrets from their past that they are afraid to share. Jackson’s older brother, Jake, is a drug addict and is constantly looking for handouts. Blaire does not Jackson to help him anymore and this causes them to fight. She does not understand why he continues to help him or their bond. But Jake is not the only problem for Blaire when she finds out her past is out to get her, a past she never told anyone about. I really liked Jackson, he was kind and had a big heart, I was not thrilled with Blaire and her wishy washiness of what she should do. I get she was insecure about things but I found myself yelling at her at times. Thankfully she redeems herself by the end. I liked how everything played out in this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns including ones you never saw coming, as well as thrilling suspense, heartfelt and emotional moments and in the end a love that stood up to it all. I was glad that Jackson was finally able to see who his brother really was, not the loving brother he grew up with but someone controlled by drugs and his own demons. Callie Bardot, thank you for the great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
And for the audio, Dan Viens is a wonderful narrator and versatile voice artist. He performs the voices for all the characters, covers both the male and female roles with perfection, gives each their own distinct sound which makes it easy to follow along and know who is who. He sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all the characters emotions and projects them into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen
Burned (Scorching Heat Book 1)
ARC REVIEW
A book with many layers.
Something that is a pleasure to read. A romance between Jackson, a firefighter, and Blair, his girlfriend.
There are fire related references all throughout the book for you to find. Then there is Jackson’s brother, whom Blair detests. Lots of suspense, sex, fire, love, emotions and more, between these pages
Jackson was a firefighter and his girlfriend was a hair dresser. Blaire loved Jackson very much and they were living together and just trying to make ends meet. Blair’s past wasn’t very good and came back to haunt her and started causing problems. Jackson’s brother, Jake was into drugs and promised Jackson he would quit using but that didn’t happen. Life is hard sometimes and family can make it worse. Good characters, good story.
If you need something to keep you warm on a cold night here is the ticket. This is also a most excellent beginning to a series it would seem. I seem to drool often at a firefighter. In this one the one to drool over is Jackson. Then there is Blaire and I do so love how this author puts his loves. As the drama comes to burn in their path that is when we are also nose to page to be close behind. If we are not careful we too will be burned. This relationship does not have mercy with us and gives us all it has.
This was an emotional roller coaster of a read! Loved it!
Jackson is a local firefighter and life is good for him except when his brother, Jake, comes around looking for handouts. They have had a tough upbringing and Jackson feels somewhat responsible for him. When his girlfriend Blair suggests they have a serious talk about the past he dormant expect to get caught up in old feelings again but what she reveals is even more shocking. Strange events start occurring and Blaire is scared. He will do anything to save her from her past but why is Jake acting more sketchy than a usual.
Danger, action and true love are the themes in this book and what a good one it is.
I voluntarily read this book for an honest review.
This story took me a bit to get into. Jackson seemed like a good guy and the perfect boyfriend. He is a rescuer and truly wants to help people.
Blair is his girlfriend who, if I’m honest, never really clicked with me. She has a host of baggafe/ secrets and she doesn’t want Jackson’s brother Jake to continue to come between them. She pushes him to make a choice.
There are a lot if baggage these two bring in to their relationship. They continue to deal with their issues. Can they get their happily ever after?
This one may take a bit to get into but it is worth it.
I was given this book for an honest voluntary review
I really enjoyed “Burned” by Callie Bardot . This is the first book I’ve read by this author, having received a copy in exchange for an honest review. I’m so glad that I gave this one a try. I found myself sucked into a story line that was refreshingly different from what I expected. The characters were well written and the plot figuratively burned the pages up. I was excited to see that this is the first in a series – I will certainly be reading the next one as soon as I can get my hands on it.
This is a great edge of your seat book to add to your book collection.
Happy Reading…enjoy
Blair grew up in a big loving family but with feelings of insecurity. Jackson is a firefighter who grew up on his own, taking care of his younger teenage brother. They both hold deep dark secrets that threaten to tear apart their young love with a blazing inferno. Will they be able to overcome their pasts and find a way to grow their love and find their happy ever after.
This book captivated me from the very beginning. I couldn’t put it down. I never saw the twists and turns coming in this book. You will definitely want to read it!
I enjoyed reading this book, it has a good storyline. There is action, intrigue, and adventure, the chemistry and interaction between the characters of Jackson and Blaire is wonderful. I can’t wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
This book was incredible. Jackson and Blair both want each other but due to there past it’s hard for her to truly be her and he has lots of obligations that cause him extra stress on the daily but these together were literally fire! This story was written in such a way that you feel everything with the characters! Definitely recommend
I voluntarily reviewed a advanced readers copy of this book

This story you will not be able to put this book down till the end . Awesome job.
Woo! I just read a scorching emotional landmine romance!
No lie! Jackson, a firefighter with the weight of the world on his shoulders and his love Blair, the complicated pasts they’ve tried to hide from one another are about to come out in explosive ways.
Fighting internal and external blazes watching the dynamic couple repair their cosmic symmetry – made for a spectacular one sitting read!
I look forward to what comes next in the Scorching Heat series!
We have so much drama. You will want to keep reading. Jackson is a firefighter and he cares about Blair. Blair’s past is catching up with her. What will Jackson do when he finds out what his brother did? What will Jackson do when he finds out about Blair’s past? Can Blaire come clean to Jackson? What will she do when she finds out about Jackson’s problems? I received a free copy for my honest review.
A story that really pulls you in. The Author has brought a great story to fruition. Both the characters in this story has had quite the hurdles to overcome and the Author has brought forth the story with great characters. The scenes are written very well. You have twists and turns I didn’t see coming. But a read I definitely recommend.

You can choose your friends, but you can’t choose your family. When it came to family, Jackson definitely got the short straw. Jake has been a noose around Jackson’s neck for years but the bonds formed in their childhood when abandoned by their parents, leaves Jackson feeling that his hands are tied. Blair, on the other hand, has made her share of mistakes and they are catching up to her. As both their problems escalate, little do Blair and Jackson realise that their problems are in fact related. A crime drama, this story is generally well written, suspenseful and fast-paced. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
The storyline was well written, the plot flowed smoothly from page to page and the characters were written with such great detail and depth that Jackson and Blaire kept me totally engaged throughout the entire book!
It took me a while to really get into this book. My first impressions of the characters were that Jackson was almost too perfect and Blaire was some kind of cross between a lunatic and a b!tch. I wasn’t liking her very much. It didn’t take long for me to realize that I was only scratching the surface of these characters. They’re both so much more complex than I can even describe. Though my opinion about Blaire carried through for just about the entire book. She’s so well written that the guard she had up against Jackson was also keeping me out. I wasn’t seeing what made her so special to him. The frictions in their relationship make for a very angsty story. And the intrigue of their colliding pasts ratchets up the dramatic tension. Because I wasn’t immediately pulled into their world, this story was a slower build for me. But once the action got rolling, I wasn’t able to put the book down. I’m now very interested to know the stories of the other brave first responders Jackson works with.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
Not for me. Too convoluted.
