Burndown was the first book in the Nitro Crew series by Winter Travers.
We met Remy in the first book of the Devil’s Knights MC series as the sixteen year old son of Meg. He was now twenty six and worked on the pit crew for a top five team on the NHRA racing circuit. It was his dream career.
Harlyn Krinston was raised by her mother. Her father chose his career over his family but she was giving him a second chance after her mother died. She took a job and moved to be near him as they worked on their relationship.
I really enjoyed both Remy and Harlyn. They were a perfect mix of sexy and fun. I also enjoyed the storyline. Travers took us through the initial meeting and then the developing relationship without much drama – the drama came from the racing crew dynamics while Travers set the stage for the series.
Travers also reintroduced Remy’s family, the Devil’s Knights MC, as support cast. It was entertaining to catch up on their fun brand of crazy. Additionally, Remy’s roommates and fellow pit crew consisted of Frankie and Jay, two supporting characters from Travers’ Skid Row Kings series. I expect we’ll see more from them as the series progresses. It wasn’t necessary to read either series in order to fully comprehend and enjoy Burndown.
Lastly, there were quite a few editing errors, but overall, it was a quick, fun and enjoyable read. Travers left us with a teaser for Frankie’s story next in Holeshot and it has promise to be explosive and exciting.
It took longer to read than I thought it should. Just could not keep reading it. It was just not the book for me but that’s not to say it may not be for someone.
love the book
Very cute and funny
Very good book
This book was very enjoyable. Some of the characters were a real trip (in a good way). Editing was fine. It is worth your time and I recommend it.
READ THIS BOOK SERIES…… great read.
I loved the book and the main characters.
This is new to me to read a story about drag racing. I know nothing about this but Winter did an excellent job of writing the story and I did not feel lost while reading it.
Remy is Meg’s son. We first met him in Winter’s Devil’s Knights series. Now he is all grown and out on his own. Even though he’s a little bit away from home, his mom still interjects her crazy in his life. Remy grew into a strong loyal honest young man. He is working towards his dream of being a valuable pit crew teammate. His buddies, Frankie and Jay are all going for their goals and helping each other out. Remy’s good heart and morals have him stopping to help Harlyn. That one encounter has him knowing that this woman will change his life for the better.
Harlyn is doing her father a favor. Coming to help him but secretly hoping to rebuild a fragile relationship. Unknowingly she meets Remy who will take her heart and hold it captive. Harlyn is a fun, quirky character. I like how she stood up for herself against her father.
We do get to meet some past characters of Winter’s with Meg and the crew. The meeting was hilarious and had me laughing hysterically.
We also meet Frankie and Jay, Remy’s crewmates and friends. The camaraderie is strong and you can see the loyalty they have for each other. Together the three of them can overcome anything.
Roc is the manager and he has it out for Remy. I would really like to know his story and why he’s got a burr up his butt.
There is some angst and young aged drama, but overall this story was a lighthearted good read. While Harlyn and Remy’s HEA is perfect for them, the story ends with you wanting more. Winter knows how to leave you hanging. I give this story 5 Pointe Shoes on the dragstrip.
** spoiler alert ** Remy has dreams of being on the recognized team members on a pit crew. Harlyn longs for her father’s attention. Neither is willing to give the other up. Will Harlyn’s dad accept them? Will Remy be able to keep his girl and his job?
This is the second series by Winter Travers I am reading and I loved this book! I loved how Remy was determined to do what it took to keep the woman he had fallen for even if it meant joining another crew. I loved how while Harlyn longed for her father’s affection, she didn’t let his disapproval make her give up Remy. Great read!
We are really enjoying this author’s stories and I have to say we really enjoyed her Nitro Crew Series. The series itself was pure enjoyment and brought us tons of laughs.
One thing we are loving about this series is its character’s and I have to say that we have never really read any sport romance reads before so this was a refreshing change we really enjoyed.
I loved both of the main character’s Remy and Harlyn. Remy was a hoot he made me laugh time and time again .”I pictured him having one of those sexy swaggers lol!”
Harlyn she was just a sweetheart and sweet ,kind, funny, vibrant and beautiful and loving and anyone meeting her for the first time could not help but love her.
Remy was sexy as sin, funny, sweet, aggressive, possessive and he had this larger than life personality that we so loved so much
I love a story like this with a little bit of a twist as it makes it more fun to read where the couple starts out dating without realizing that they will have more in common then they even realize which turns in to surprising them both and complicating matters between them.I will say from the moment we meet Haryln I new I was going to love her as she was just going to make us laugh time and time again as I just got the feeling she was going to be one of those gals who tells it like it is and then some.
I love this author but, I have to say that I had not read a lot of sports romance reads but, I am really glad that I gave this series a chance because it was really a lot of fun and I loved the first installment as it just drew us in and gave of the ins and outs of being a pit grew for a drag racer but, most of all the wonderful friendships that developed being part of that crew.
The romance between both Remy and Harlyn was sweet and affectionate and the chemistry was definitely there. These two made a really great couple and complimented one another as they were pretty much one in the same. One thing about the men is this series and Jay himself is when the men fall they fall hard and quick. The man take what the want and claim their women quickly.”My kind of guy.”
I really enjoyed the plot and the story as well as all the amazing character’s like Meg,Frankie,Harlyn these character’s make you laugh out loud the entire story. The story made us laugh and be sad in the fact Harlyn struggled with her upbringing and had some drama and a few surprises to keep us engrossed and turning the pages from beginning to end.”We loved it!”
The first of the Nitro Crew series starts with Remy and Harlyn. Yes, Meg’s Remy, he is all grown up now, even though she treats him like he isn’t, lol. When Remy stops to help Harlyn when her car broke down, he doesn’t hesitate to get her number. Texting back and forth the two start a fledgling relationship, but Remy’s job has him on the road quite a bit so they don’t get a lot of face to face time. It takes a few weeks, but when Remy finds out just who Harlyn works for and who her father is, he has to choose… his job or the girl that has stolen his heart?
This was a good lead in to this new series. The thing I love about Winter’s writing is she never fails to give us some laugh out loud moments. I look forward to the next story, I should have reread to prepare for this series, it took me way too long to realize just who Frankie is, duh moment there. I give this 4 stars.
Remy has his dream job (sort of), his boss Roc rides him at work all the time. Trying to figure out how to get the respect he deserves. One night when heading home from a night out. Remy and his friends stop to help a stranger who’s car died alongside the road. He feels that he has to get to know Harlyn.
Harlyn is helping out her dad, by taking a job where he’s working. Not realizing that was where Remy worked. She’s drawn to Remy, but how will her dad handle their relationship.
Love this book, and of course Remy’s mom! I love her, true goals!
Remy and Harlyn are a match you can’t deny. The had me turning the pages faster than ever. Easy read that left me breathless for more. Can’t wait to read Frankie’s story and get into Jay’s.
Love, love this book!! A great introduction to a new series with ties to Devil’s Knights series. I absolutely love Remy and his crazy mom. His work ethic is top notch, devoted to everything racing until he meets Harlyn stranded on the side of the road. His whole focus shifts and he has some room to play. Harlyn just moved to town to work for her dad. Both Remy and Harlyn are in for a surprise when Remy learns who Harlyn’s father is.
They have explosive chemistry but Remy is taking it slow for Harlyn’s sake. Remy is always keeping the peace between his two best friends. The banter between the three of them had me cracking up. I can’t wait for the next installment of this series.
I was recently introduced to Winter Travers as an author and I am so glad I was. Her work is spectacular!
This series includes both new and old faces. Remy is all grown up and is trying to pursue his dreams of being part of a professional racing team pit crew. He is a confident character without being to over the top. Harlyn is a great match for him in personality and spirit. The interactions between the two of them are so well done. This was a great balance of sweet and hot. I can’t wait to see more of this series!
A great read from this Amazing Author.. Remy we know from the authors other series, now he’s all grown up, finds his own love. Harlyn a woman with a lot of quirks but Remy is a great match thanks to being around his Mom and the other old ladies in her girl posse. Love this new series from this must read Author.
WOW!!
This book was kickass from the start. Not only did I find a new to me author, but an author who is writing a series that is about drag racing. I was born and raised around drag racing my whole life, so to find an author that is writing a series on it mixed with romance is like hitting the jackpot.
I loved the writing style, characters, and the accuracy was so on point with drag racing. I was totally blown away. I’ve read racing books before and I have never found one that was as accurate as this one. Well Done Winter Travers!!!
I have fallen in love with Remy and Harlyn along with the rest of the characters. I knew that I was going to love these two when they first met when her car broke down. This book is not only full of hotness, but full of laugh out loud moments. Remy and Harlyn’s story was just really starting to heat up at the end and I am so looking forward to seeing these two race to the finish line of forever with each other.
This is really a great start to a series for sure and can not wait to get more of Remy and Harlyn’s story along with the other characters.
I have since learned that there are other series with some of the same characters in them from this author. Now I know what I’ll be doing while waiting for the next book in the series to come out.
Happy Reading Everyone!!!
If you have been reading Winter’s Travers’s books, then you know who Remy is. Remy we met in Loving Lo and his crazy mamma is the president of the Devils Knights women. Remy is working on getting his dream job working as a mechanic for the NHRA pic crew.
Harlyn is freaking awesome. Just like Meg but with a bit more of a filter. She moved to town to help her dad out and when she and Remy met you just knew that this was the real thing. You could just feel the attraction between them.
Everything about this book is classic from this author. You get all the feels. The laughter, the craziness, but what you always feel when you finish her books is complete. Beautifully written and keeps you captivated from the start to the end making you wish the book wasn’t finished.
I can’t wait for more of this series, it is going to be a freaking hit
Dayum! The boy has become a man!! For those that have been in Narnia, Remy is Meg’s son (Loving Lo – The Devil’s Knights MC)! Over the series we have watched him grow, he feels like part of my family!
Now he is all grown up (27 years old) and moved away from home after getting his dream job! He has worked his socks off to get this job but feels as though he could do more. The Crew Chief seems to have other ideas and Remy knows he has a lot to prove.
Harlyn is new to the area and Remy comes to her rescue when her car breaks down. There is an instant connection and sparks fly. This couple together just melted my heart. *fans self!!
Throw in some crazy from Meg and a catch up with the ladies and The Devil’s Knights and this book is a must read. Another fantastic one by Winter Travers!!
