One look at the sixteen-year-old, prim and proper town goody-two-shoes, Hennessy Hanes, and Tate Casey knows he’s in trouble. He knows he should stay away from the preacher’s daughter, but there’s something about her he’s drawn to, and he can’t resist the pull. The more he gets to know her, the more he realizes that something isn’t right. He may not be able put his finger on what it is, but he’s … but he’s determined to find out what’s going on with the girl with the haunted eyes.
Tate didn’t anticipate that someone else would be just as determined to keep Hennessy’s nightmare a secret, and he never realizes just how far that person is willing go to keep those skeletons in the closet until it’s too late.
With the very real threat of jail time hanging over his head, Tate leaves without a backwards glance at the town or the girl. The problem is that out-of-sight doesn’t necessarily mean out of mind, and it’s Tate who’s now haunted by his decision and memories of Hennessy.
Hennessy Hanes knows better than anyone not everything is always as it appears to be. After years of being on the receiving end of her squeaky-clean preacher father’s abuse, she seizes an opportunity to leave it all behind and runs.
Her only regret is that in walking away she loses any chance with the one person who tried to save her.
Fast forward ten years, and they’re both back where they started.
Tate was never a good boy, and it turns out that the man he’s now grown into isn’t all that much better. Anger is a living, breathing part of him, and there’s a court order forcing him to seek help from the one person he’s never forgotten.
Hennessy never thought she’d see Tate Casey again, and certainly not on her couch. But now it’s her turn to save him, and there are rules she must follow as his psychologist, not to mention a court order instructing her to help him manage his anger. If she doesn’t follow those rules, he’ll end up back in jail.
Tate Casey has never been a man who followed the rules, and Hennessy is no longer the straight-laced, timid preacher’s daughter she once was.
His hands may be tied, so it looks like for the first time in Hennessy’s life, she’ll be the one breaking the rules for the chance to finally get what she’s always wanted. Him.

Hennessy and Tate can be looked at as being opposites. But, they fit together perfectly. when they finally stop fighting their attraction they are hot together. Everything that they go through in life is one of the things that makes them who they are together. My heart hurt for both of them for what they went through when they were growing up. and there were moments that i wanted to grab Hennessy and hide her away from the bad that was in her life. then i wanted to sit back and watch Tate take care of business and beat the crap out of her father.
this one was another hit for me. i could not put it down, but i find thats how i am when it comes to all of LLV’s books. can’t wait for the next one in this series
This is the story of Tate and Hennessy. Two very opposite people who are just perfect for one another. But Hennessys father and the town don’t have the nicest things to say about Tate and think he is bad news for her. Good thing for Tate, Hennessy doesn’t care what everyone else thinks especially since she has been smitten with him since she was a teenager.
Go read this story it’ll make you laugh and maybe want to see some people burn in hail.
Well I barely read the blurb for this one and I didn’t care about the reviews I just jumped straight in and didn’t put it down. Tate and Hennessy are absolutely my favourite couple so far.
I was excited to get to know Tate from the second he was mentioned in the first book. And throwing in the preacher’s daughter who he had crushed on since they were kids made it even better. Everything about Tate was heartbreaking and perfect.
He was so determined to protect Hennessy from his reputation yet he couldn’t stay away. And I loved the way he was so furious about everything Hennessy had gone through but he promised he wouldn’t do anything so he put all of that upset into making sure she was safe and loved.
Hennessy was no slouch in the heroine department. She was afraid and scarred emotionally and physically but she wasn’t a victim. She knew what she wanted and I liked that she didn’t want it at any cost. When she didn’t feel like she was going to get what she needed she was prepared to walk away. And I loved Tate even more for the fact he didn’t play games he just laid it all out to her.
Absolutely adore a strong heroine and a protective alpha hero. This series just continues to get better.
Another fantastic story by Ms Lani Lynn Vale. The town bad boy and preachers daughter, loaded with hidden truths, suspense, misunderstandings, humor and a very undeniable love between two people who have been through a lot. Tate and Hennessy have a beautiful connection, amazing chemistry and a wonderful friendship. They bring out the best in each other. I’m never disappointed when I read a Lani Lynn Vale book.
Highly recommend!!
Awesome!! Tate and Hennessey! Two completely different worlds, or so you think at first. One powerful love!
This review is for the audiobook version.
I loved this book when I read it. But I loved it just a little more after listening to it.
Mr. Lloyd was the perfect choice for Tate Casey. He was good at getting across Tate’s attitude problem. Ms. Taylor was great at giving me more of a personal connection to Hennessy Hanes. As well as a better understanding of what she’s having to deal with.
Your reading experience is so much different when you hear someone bring words to life that most people cannot when they read for themselves. I found myself picking up on things that I missed when I was the one acting as my own narrator. This also gave me a reaffirmation of what I loved about this book in the first place. For example, our author is good at knowing just the right moment to get the reader to laugh. One such situation is when Hennessy was out on a date. She’s also good at showing how shy and reserved Hennessy can be. Having Ms. Taylor read to me puts in that little extra that I never could. And what could I say about Mr. Lloyd. Whenever I think or read about Tate again, I will hear his voice in my head.
Ms. Vale has spoiled me now. How will I ever be able to read these books again? I need to listen to the rest of the Hail Raisers. Knowing that Ms. Taylor and Mr. Lloyd have done the other five books in the series made me very happy. If you’ve read any other books of hers than you will enjoy getting to know all of characters that make up this series.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
I really loved Burn in Hail. Tate and Hennessy are so friggin cute. I instantly fell in love with the both of them. Tate is the resident no good trash because the town preacher hates him and his not so great mother. Hennessy is the daughter of the town preacher and has to deal with her fathers wrath way too often for my liking. Hennessy is just the sweetest and most innocent girl and I really loved her. She is inexperienced and has her father on her about everything about her life. But when it becomes harder to deny how much she wants Tate, she embraces a side of her dying to get out. She was able to be herself around Tate and he accepted her for who she was and she did the same to him despite what people said about him. I loved that they both had a big thing for one another when they were younger. This is my favorite of the series.
Lani Lynn Vale can spin a story that just takes you through the ringer! We met Tate at the end of Travis and Hannah’s book, after he had been released from prison. Now that he is back in town, one of the main reasons he had left the town comes in the form of Hennessy Hanes, his court ordered psychologist. For Hannah, Tate has always been that one person that could make her heart beat a bit faster, even when they were kids. Seeing him every week is hard enough, but when she finds out that he has moved across the street from her, he makes her want things that she knows she shouldn’t want and will get punished for wanting. But the more they are pushed together, the harder it gets to resist the temptation, even when it seems the whole town is against them.
Lani Lynn Vale has a way of writing that just makes the outside world disappear and you watch this movie in your head, its amazing! This story that she told about Hannah and Tate just broke my heart, but then she puts you back together and its all fine and dandy. With drama, sexy times there were off the charts hot, and a bit of violence this is a 5 star read all the way.
Love Tate and Hennessy! Tate got a raw deal but took it. He is all badass alpha. And Hennessy gives him a run for his money. Love this series. The Hail series is awesome.
This is the story of Tate and Hennessy, book 3 of the Hail Raisers. The Hail Raisers is a group of men that are employees of a Repo Company owned by the Hail Brothers. They are loosely associated with the other series written by this author. Each book, as well as each series, can be read as a stand alone, but are much better when you have already immersed yourself in the other series.
Although Tate and Hennessy know each other from their childhood, circumstances prevent them getting to know each other more than in passing. Tate has always been a bad boy, in every sense of the word. He has just been released from prison and is seeing Hennessy as a condition of his parole. Hennessy is the only daughter of a preacher in their small town. She is quiet, reserved, and friendly. From the outside, her life seems picture perfect. But everything is not as it seems to be. There is undeniable chemistry between the two, but they try to ignore it, each for their own reasons. As the story unfolds, things come to light that throw them together, and make it impossible to ignore any longer. Together they bring out the best in each other, and fight to make their lives everything they know it could be.
This story is heartbreaking at times, but there are just as many times where I couldn’t contain my laughter. The description is enough that I could picture myself there as the action was unfolding. And it was HOT! Definitely got my heart racing! As with all of Lani Lynn Vale’s books, the story flowed well, and there was enough action to keep it moving, but didn’t overshadow the romance between Hennessy and Tate.
Secrets, lies, pain that you just can’t escape.
This explains not only Tate but Hennessy’s life.
Though their upbringings, pasts, experiences, type of pain differ as well as how they handle it, the two are more alike than they are opposites.
The town whores son and the preachers daughter, not exactly a match made in heaven huh?
Thing is not everything is as it seems or as it’s rumored to be in small towns where nobody has anything better to do that to gossip about each other.
Tate & Hennessy will steal your heart. Their story while heart breaking is also breath taking, two people more suited for each other have never existed!
I adore this series and am dying for #4, that sneak peek chapter at the end wasn’t nearly enough!

Another amazing book by Lani Lynn Vale I’m seriously addicted to her books there full of lovable characters , story line that hooks you in , and give you the feels . Burn in hail can be read as a standalone though the hero is slightly mentioned in the first two books in the Hail Raisers series and if you are looking for some binge reading then this is an author you need to read from .Hennessy and Tate knew one another since they were little but never ran in the same circles he was the towns bad boy and she was the preachers daughter once they are brought together it’s in a very unconventional way by her being his psychologist . I really loved Tate like many LLV heroes he’s protective , funny , likes to get dirty “wink” and one hell of a silver tonged devil , his banter with Baylor is super hilarious so can’t wait for his story What the Hail we got his first interaction with his leading lady in Go to hail and some in this one were he couldn’t takes eyes off of Larks derriere . I really adore Hennessy the name itself just wow she grows a lot through out the story to were she isn’t afraid of her veil father and becomes confident with her sexy outfits that drive the hero crazy so wanted to high five her when she put some people in their place . Every time I open my kindle I go major fan girl when I see a new one by the author lets just say my family knows when I get a LLV book . It’s also cool to see the secondary characters and future couples especially Krisney and Reed just know their story is going to be a doozy of emotions and I always love a good second chance love that’s what those two are going to be .

Tate and Hennessy’s story has been my favorite so far in the Hail Raisers series. Their backstory was fantastic and the chemistry between them was amazing. The plot included all of the drama that I’ve come to expect from Lani Lynn Vale within this series (I’ve learned to stop asking myself “can’t they please just get a break?”) but it didn’t bother me as much this time as it did in Go To Hail, but perhaps that’s because the villain was a family member and not an ex. Whatever the reason, I really enjoyed Tate and Hennessy as characters, I loved how their story evolved, and I loved how all the factors that could have pulled them apart just made them stronger as a unit. Plus I loved Grams. And the sex scenes were AMAZING! 3.75 out of 5 wine glasses.
Lani has once again delivered a truly addicting read. I loved these characters and the story line kept me on my toes.
The anger and sadness I had on behalf of these two characters was tipping the scales. The people in town made me want to commit all kinds of violence. How they can treat Tate the way they always have just because of his mom’ choices and the fact that the Revered hates him pissed me off. I wanted to chop the dangley bits from the Reverend so bad. He is such an asshole and deserves so many awful things for the way he has not only treated Tate but for all the truly terrible things he does to Hennessy and for his hypocrisy.
I loved watching Hennessy come out of her shell. Tate is very alpha but she is used to that kind of behavior but he shows her that just because you are alpha doesn’t mean you are mean as hell. Tate has a caring nature but when you’ve been burned as many times as he has you’d probably act closed off and standoffish to many as well.
I highly recommend this series. I have fallen in love with all the books so far and am eager for the next!
4.5 Stars
Burn in Hail is the third title in the Hail Raisers series and features Tate and Hennessy. This is a story of opposites attracting. Although they may be opposites Tate and Hennessy complement each other perfectly. Childhood acquaintances who become reacquainted as doctor and patient. Any relationship between the pair is forbidden, a conflict of interest, yet their long repressed feelings and chemistry builds the more time they spend in each others company.
Tate Casey has experienced a hellish past, he’s made some difficult choices with ramifications that are still affecting him. He’s a good guy, who did the wrong thing for the right reason, and doesn’t regret his action and choices of the past. He’s an endearing, brooding, muscled, tattooed character with a kind, caring, protective streak a mile wild.
Hennessy is a good girl, the preacher’s daughter. Expectations have been heaped on her shoulders from a young age.
This title is full of twists and turns, and secrets that keep you on the edge of your seat and completely enthralled and captivated. Burn in Hail is a sweet, steamy story full of emotion, heat, heart and humor.
I thoroughly enjoyed the banter that is fun, flirty and full of humor, and the side characters who provide a link to the previous titles in the Hail Raisers series, and The Dixie Wardens Rejects.
I will be eagerly anticipating the next title in this series.
So if you haven’t realized already I am a little addicted to Lani Lynn Vale’s books, okay who am I kidding I am a whole lot addicted, like I should be seeking professional help for this addiction. When Burn In Hail landed on my kindle everything I was doing was pushed to the side because I needed my fix and Tate and Hennessey did not disappoint. Tate will have you burning up so much that you will need to see a doctor for how hot this bad boy with a heart of gold will have you. Hennessey is one of the sweetest characters that Lani has written and this woman with a beautiful soul has had a life filled with heartache and pure torture. The connection these two have had has been there for years and no matter what they have tried it just will not be broken. Drama, small minded people, judgements and grudges follow these two and try to destroy a love that was inevitable. Tate will fill your heart as this huge man who has been judged all his life shows he has a soul that is so selfless that even heaven and God himself will stand in awe of him.
