#1 New York Times bestselling author Ilona Andrews launches a brand-new Hidden Legacy series, in which one woman must place her trust in a seductive, dangerous man who sets off an even more dangerous desire . . .
Nevada Baylor is faced with the most challenging case of her detective career—a suicide mission to bring in a suspect in a volatile situation. Nevada isn’t sure she has the chops. Her … has the chops. Her quarry is a Prime, the highest rank of magic user, who can set anyone and anything on fire.
Then she’s kidnapped by Connor “Mad” Rogan—a darkly tempting billionaire with equally devastating powers. Torn between wanting to run and wanting to surrender to their overwhelming attraction, Nevada must join forces with Rogan to stay alive.
Rogan’s after the same target, so he needs Nevada. But she’s getting under his skin, making him care about someone other than himself for a change. And, as Rogan has learned, love can be as perilous as death, especially in the magic world.

The entire series is excellent. Ilona Andrews has unparalleled world-building skills. The edgy romance in this series is the icing on the cake for PNR fans like me.
While my love for Silver Shark is bordering on the legendary, Burn for Me is one of my absolute favorite books. The characters are fantastic. The relationship is steamy. And while there is sexy content material on the page, it’s totally within threshold for being a flavor addition rather than the primary focus of the book. The story is the true king, and this romp is just delightful from the first page to its last one.
To date, this is still my favorite book in the series, but the whole Hidden Legacy series is well worth the binge.
Emerald Blaze cannot get here fast enough. (Note: Sapphire Flames and Emerald Blaze follow a different lead character than Burn for Me, the second, and the third story in the series.)
I adore Nevada, but Catalina is well worth the love, too.
So, yeah. This book is great. Love it. 10/10 wish I could experience for it for the first time again and again and again… Ilona Andrews has hit it out of the park with this book, and they just keep getting better and better as they go.
Another of my favourite books/series from one of my favourite authors!! Sexy and fun with a great sense of family/loyalty/love and lots of magic.
Nevada Baylor is the voice of this series and an engaging character all on her own, accompanied by her eccentric, delightful family. I knew from the Kate Daniels series by this gifted writing team that I’d likely enjoy the Hidden Legacy series, and I really did. Then there was the bonus of uber-alpha Mad Rogan, and let me tell you, if you’re in the mood for hot alpha (and sometimes there’s just no substitute, right?) Connor is your man. Or her man–if she’ll ever give into temptation and go for it. The world-building here is excellent, and the cast of characters is terrific. I just finished, and I want to go read it all again.
I love Urban fantasy with a kickass heroine and strong romance, and this has it all! I binged on the whole series…can’t wait for more.
You don’t have to ask me twice, I am burning through the Hidden Legacy series. This is my second series by Ilona Andrews. The stories only keep getting better with each new book I read – no easy feat for a series writer. I have found my new #1 Favorite in the Paranormal Romance genre. If you haven’t read the Hidden Legacy series, do so. Start with Burn For Me and enjoy great characters, amazing world-building, and the beginning of a scorching love story.
A magical society, powerful families, a strong female lead, an enemies-to-lovers romance, and a compelling mystery kept me enthralled and turning the page.
I’ve had this one on standby for a long time and with book 4 of the series releasing soon, I decided to dive in.
This is another action packed read by this amazing writing duo and it’s impossible not to compare it to their Kate Daniels series. I enjoyed that this has a more present feel to it rather than a post-apocalyptic one. One of the things I really liked was the presence of Nevada’s family. They make her distinctive from Kate and their arguments, banter and support was fun and realistic. I wasn’t sure how far into paranormal or sci-fi this was going to go but I was pleased where this one took us. Wild enough to shock and awe but tame enough to be able to vividly imagine each scene. I did struggle some to visualize Kate’s world.
I’m a romance junkie so I especially loved meeting Connor “Mad” Rogan. When the carnations arrived I knew that Rogan was going to a great hero. From that point onward I was reading all kinds of little things into his actions and words. Not that they weren’t there prior to that event, but he’s kind of a hard one to read.
I loved the unfolding of this case and how the relationship between this hero and heroine develop. There’s a bit of push and pull with Nevada, but I think that’s just going to make Rogan chase her all the more. The culmination of their case was off the charts and just as I was taking a deep breath and relaxing because it was over, I hit the epilogue! I think I’m going to be addicted to this series just as much, if not more, than KD.
4.5 stars! Ignore the super-cheeesy covers on this series: they’re great reads, and sexy content isn’t even the main focus of these AU urban fantasies. Connor “Mad” Rogan isn’t perfect, but by the end of this first trilogy, I’m sure you’ll be won over, as I was, plus Nevada’s family is delightful. Each story has action, humor, a resolved sub-plot arc, and yes, their slow-built [enemies]-to-lovers romance.
I love the Hidden Legacy world. The world was fascinating, the ability were fascinating, the characters were all great and the story line was A++++.
Nevada was such an amazing heroine. She was smart, sassy, and caring. She was the perfect heroine that you just wish you could be like. Mad Rogan was everything you would want in a bad boy. He was powerful, crazy, and super sexy. I loved the tension and passion between them. They want each other but Nevada will not give in easily, which is just what Rogan needs. I really loved all the side characters as well, especially Nevada’s family.
I loved everything about this book and can’t wait to see what will happen next between Nevada and Rogan.
Recommending the first books in urban fantasy series that I love. Have I mentioned that Ilona Andrews could write a shopping list and I’d read it? This author is just the top tier for UF and Burn For Me is no exception. I absolutely adored Nevada and Mad Rogan. Their dynamic is off-the-charts and as usual the world building is exceptional. I was very sad when the trilogy ended but happy that there is going to be a spin off of one of the characters!
I’ve loved the writing team that comprises this pen name for a long time. Their world building is phenomenal. Burn For Me is a great beginning to a new trilogy. My only bitch was the long gap between this book and the next one.
I have enjoyed every series of novels written by husband-and-wife team Ilona Andrews. Heroines see themselves as attractive but are more highly motivated by honor, love of family, and ambition than a quest for romantic love, and I always like that. The world-building is intriguing, and they make fairly implausible situations seem explicable in the face of how the magic worlds of their creation work. Good escapist reading!
I love the characters and worlds she comes up with! They are so well-rounded and totally believable, even though she deals with really out-there settings. The whole series is amazing!

I am a BIG FAN of the writing team Ilona Andrews. I can always count on them to pull me into a magical world full of new dangers and fantastically interesting characters. They are my F*A*V*O*R*I*T*E authors and one of the few I will automatically purchase their books as soon as it’s available.
Burn for Me is book one in the Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews and what a magnificent start to a new series. I have been looking forward to reading Burn for Me and I was not disappointed. We get humor, action, adventure, and romance.
Nevada is everything a lead heroine should be. Loyal, smart, witty, and kick ass even with the little power she has. She has been working hard to keep the family PI business going and is very protective of her family. I loved Nevada right off.
Connor “Mad” Rogan, a Prime (off-the-charts magic), rich, powerful, and head of House Rogan. He is pure sex walking on a stick. The House’s rule this world, in a way with their own rules. As for Connor I never could figure him out even at the end and I am hoping more is revealed about him. He is a sociopath (Yes a sociopath) and I don’t know if Nevada should love him or run screaming.
What can I say. This is one you don’t want to miss reading. The author creates instantly likable characters, that are hilarious and have great dynamics between them. Nevada’s grandmother was a hoot. The world-building is awe-inspiring and original. We are spared no shortage on the action or plot developments. The writing flows nicely and they do an extraordinary job of describing things in great detail. Burn for Me was a delightful, hilarious, and action packed read.
If you have not picked up Ilona Andrews, I highly recommend you do. I have loved and enjoyed all of Ilona Andrews written works. They have not once let me down and I wait with great anticipation for the next installment.
I feel like I am the minority here but I just didn’t vibe with this book. It felt, to me, like too much fantasy and not enough romance…
I kept getting the side character’s/bad guy names mixed up and the plot or I forgot who they were. I wanted to like this book so much more than I did. I won’t be continuing with the series.
I listened to the audiobook and I read some reviews about how that may not have been the best choice whoops. Definitely saw that whenever it was time for Rogen’s voiceover.
I think I read this book five times, I loved it so much. The characters are great.
If you love the steamy yet slow-build romance in Wings of Fire, you’re in for a treat with Burn For Me by Ilona Andrews.
Each character is unique and instantly likable (well, except the ones we’re supposed to boo at), and Mad Rogan is delicious in every sense of the word. As soon as I finished this book, I turned around and reread it because it was that good. And I hardly ever reread books, even years later.
Give it a read and let me know what you thought! Stephanie Mirro on FB, IG, and Twitter.
Fiery passion only works when it’s not someone trying to literally set you on fire. Nevada is in trouble when the detective case of her lifetime could leave her burning.
THE BLURB
Nevada Baylor is the head of her family’s detective agency. Her company is hired, unwillingly, to bring in an individual alive. Problem is that person is a Prime, the highest rank of magic user who seems to be willing to set anyone and everything on fire. It’s a suicide mission.
Conner “Mad” Rogan has left his life in the army. He’s known for being insanely strong with devastating powers. His estranged family asks him to track down his nephew whose somehow got caught up with a runaway Prime whose committed murder and theft. Problem is that Prime is proving elusive to track down. Then he realises that a small-time detective named Nevada seems capable of drawing out his target…
They need each other if they are going to track down their target. But they keep getting under each other’s skins. Can they ignore this growing attraction that threatens to distract them?
TONE OF THE BOOK
Burn For Me is very definitely set in the neutral tone range. There are a number of sensitive topics and stressful scenes, but like all of Ilona Andrew’s books that tension is broken up with witty and comedic dialogue and fun, engaging action scenes.
SENSITIVE TOPICS
One very minor side character is caught having an affair. It’s not a major part of the novel, and is not endorsed, however does make an appearance within the first chapter.
Burn For Me is a rather action oriented novel and as a result there is violence and death throughout, without characters feeling remorse for killing.
SERIES SYNOPSIS
Burn For Me is the first novel in the five book romance Hidden Legacy series. There are a number of smaller novellas and deleted scenes also released, dotted between various books.
The first three novels in the series follows the lives and relationship of Nevada Baylor and Connor “Mad” Rogan. Novels 4 and 5 follow Nevada’s younger sister Catalina Baylor and Alessandro Sagredo.
Burn For Me is 406 pages long, which is slightly longer than the average romance novel (at 300 pages). Initially you’ll feel this length when the main characters don’t even meet for a surprisingly long time. However the pace picks up fast as the novel progresses, and by then you’re certain to be hooked.
The first novel in the series ends with a cliffhanger. Whilst the initial story wraps up, expect the romance and world plot to continue.
REVIEW
Ilona Andrews is actually a husband-and-wife writing team. They combine their interests together to create really dynamic and interesting worlds. The world-building they achieve in their novels are remarkable, they are able to imply a large universe with a skill that very few authors can match. It invites you to explore, and you’ll feel bereft when the series ends.
The action scenes are delightful within the novel; as a reader you can clearly see the events unfolding through the character’s eyes. The tension that goes hand in hand with the action scenes pushes you to read more and more, wanting to know what happens next (okay I stayed up really late reading Burn For Me).
The series is a slow burn romance, so don’t expect significant character growth within one novel alone. Each character is a slowly unfurling flower that is beautiful and deep as they reveal their personalities, backstories, hopes and fears. You will fall in love with them as much as the characters for each other.
It is remarkable that the series has not yet been made into a TV series or movie.
FINAL WORD
I’m a fan of Ilona Andrews’s novels; they encapsulate the perfect blend of a slow burn romance, with heart-racing action scenes, and compelling plots that leave you on the edge of your seat. I very much look forward to reading the next book in the series.
RECOMMENDED BOOKS AND AUTHORS
If you enjoyed this novel chances are you’ll also enjoy Ilona Andrews’ other series Kate Daniels. The first book in this series is Magic Bites. It’s about a girl that lives in a post-apocalyptic world that’s fluctuating between magic and technology. She’s hunted from her birth, and works as a mercenary-investigator, getting caught up in cases between animal shifters, vampires and mages.
Many readers who like Ilona Andrews writing style, fun and adventure will appreciate Bec McMaster’s London Steampunk series. Set in a world of blood-blood vampires, wolf shifters and humans. The series focuses around a human family forced from an aristocratic lifestyle, trying to survive in a dangerous city.
If you don’t mind an out of this world adventure (pun intended for sci-fi novels), then consider Mercenary Instinct by Ruby Lionsdrake (the first book in the Mandrake Company series). The characters explore several different locations, and worlds, in their adventures. It’s a happily ever after book that focuses on action and adventure.
/5 /5
TW: 18+, violence, sexual language.
Can we talk about this cover for a minute? I mean I never judge a book by it but Jesus Christ this cover is horrendous. I was a little embarrassed to add it to my goodreads CR because this cover screams boom-chick-wow-wow. It seems like it came out of an erotica shelf but surprisingly it didn’t. The rating for this book was super high and that peaked my interest immediately.
Humans with magic powers; some control fire, others air, water, metals, some can read minds, others control it and then there is MAD-F*cking-ROGAN who now controls my heart.
During the first 30 pages I was like: what in the X-men f*ckery is this? But the pace picked up really fast and I couldn’t put it down.
A naughty grandmother, a down-to-earth independent strong female lead who can tell when people are lying to her, an alpha asshole male who is intriguing, hilarious and will drive you crazy, and many other characters with great dynamic and chemistry.
This felt like I was watching a very fun, action packed marvel movie. I am personally not a marvel or DC kind of girl. Super heroes don’t do it for me all the time, but this one has the right amount of sass and sexual tension to keep me going and it seems like the whole series will be centered around the possible romantic relationship between Nevada and Mad. I also love the “cop romance” aspect of it. Searching for answer and clues and trying to solve a mystery together always gives me scooby doo vibes and who doesn’t love scooby doo? Exhilarating, funny, filled with witty banter and with the right amount of action scenes and scenes where Nevada is a badass independent b*tch. To be honest I can’t wait to read the next one.
