THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLERIn her bestselling Alpha and Omega series, Patricia Briggs “spins tales of werewolves, coyote shifters, and magic and, my, does she do it well” (USA Today Online). Now mated werewolves Charles Cornick and Anna Latham face a threat like no other–one that lurks too close to home…They are the wild and the broken. The werewolves too damaged to live safely among … damaged to live safely among their own kind. For their own good, they have been exiled to the outskirts of Aspen Creek, Montana. Close enough to the Marrok’s pack to have its support; far enough away to not cause any harm.
With their Alpha out of the country, Charles and Anna are on call when an SOS comes in from the fae mate of one such wildling. Heading into the mountainous wilderness, they interrupt the abduction of the wolf–but can’t stop blood from being shed. Now Charles and Anna must use their skills–his as enforcer, hers as peacemaker–to track down the attackers, reopening a painful chapter in the past that springs from the darkest magic of the witchborn…

Patricia Briggs stories never seizes to amaze me. Burn bright was no exception either. It’s one of those stories where you read and read and suddenly you’re at the last chapter and can’t help but wonder where the time went. A book that can capture my mind and interest that wholly is 100 % worth the wait.
What made me fall in love with the cry wolf series is the dynamic and chemistry between Anna and Charles. I’ll admit that I was kind of hoping for more in that department with Burn Bright, especially after the last book with them discussing children. However, I’m not disappointed either. Having learned way back that romance is not Briggs main pursuit with her stories, I’m okay with the relationship and romance genre taking a backseat even if I’m addicted to it. It actually makes me more excited when the romantic scenes do happen and I did not have to worry of it lacking in Burn bright at all. There were Anna and Charles moments that absolutely turned me into pudding.
Off course, Anna and Charles aren’t the only reason for why I love this series and this book. The whole pack dynamic and werewolf world is intriguing to say the least and I just adore Briggs imagination and writing style. She knows how to build the suspense and drama as well as keeping it light and funny in a perfect balance. I find myself fascinated of how complex and multicultural it all is, both cry wolf and the Mercy Thompson series, with all-ranging characters and personalities as well as settings. Authors like Briggs are a rare kind, sadly.
As much as I enjoy this series, it’s just so heartbreaking that I now have to wait two years for the next book in the series. Although, as the saying goes, good things happen for those who wait.
I love this series!
Read the newest or start back at the beginning. No waiting for the next book to be published that way. Great series.

Thoughts: I have got to stop reading any of this author’s books on a work night. There was just no way that I could put this down. Every time I was about to stop and go to bed something would happen that just kept me glued until the very last page. Anna is one of my favorite characters and Charles is definitely one of my book boyfriends. If you haven’t started this series I suggest you do so, I love this world that the author has created, and the fact that it’s the same world as Mercy Thompson is also a bonus! The only bummer now is I’m going through withdrawals now and have to wait for the next book.
Never disappointed with Patricia Briggs. I love Anna and Charles.
I love the Alpha and Omega books. I wait anxiously for the next one. This one was as good as the original.
Love the entire series and the host series with Mercedes. Very real characters. Have met author at book signing & in social interaction as she lives only 4 hrs from Portland. Want to support a near local author.
I loved it and the end was a shock, can’t wait for next book in the series.
A one day book. Even though my day didn’t end until the early hours of the next day. I couldn’t put it down. Patricia Briggs is one of my favorite authors and I can’t wait for her next book. I wish she could write as fast as I read.
Great read, believable situations and very hard to put down.
A favorite writer
Great book
Wonderful addition to the series.
I loved all the characters and I could hardly put it down..
This world of the supernatural is more creative than some other Authors worlds. I like that the weakest changer, the coyote, is smart and stubborn enough to usually win.
Not the best in this very good series, but neither the least. If you enjoy the series, keep reading, but begin at the beginning.
Patricia Briggs is one of my favorite authors, and this is another wonderful offering in the Alpha and Omega series. My only complaint? I wish there were more and more books!
Charles and Anna often investigate strange goings on in their pack, but also act as liaison’s to the federal government, traveling across the US to do so. Burn Bright stays very close to home. Bran, the Marrok, is off in Europe having helped Mercy when she was kidnapped in the novel Silence Fallen. Charles, acting Alpha until Bran’s return has to investigate a call he gets from one of his fathers wildlings. Wolves who live in the wild because they are kind of crazy and can’t live among the pack. He and Anna travel into the wilderness and find themselves in a magical fight for their lives and the lives of their pack.
I have been eagerly anticipating the release of Burn Bright because Anna and Charles are two of my favorite characters and one of my favorite couples. Since being introduced to them we have seen Charles Cornick, son to the Marrok and his enforcer, take on some really tough enemies. To the werewolves of North America he is one truly scary guy, brought in when something needs to be cleaned up. When he meets Anna and realizes she is his mate you see a subtle shift in his intensity. To those who don’t know him, he’s still intimidating as hell, but to those who do know him there is a slight softening. Anna, an Omega wolf, has a calming effect that’s often called upon in difficult moments, but Charles’ need to protect his mate and soothe her in return makes a difference in how his family and close friends see him and you can see that difference evolve as each book progresses. I love this progression in not only their relationship but in them as a couple with each novel showing their growing love and closeness.
Each novel in the Alpha and Omega series can be read as a stand alone with the central story a mystery that has a beginning, middle, and conclusion in each novel. However, I do think you’ll miss the subtleties in these characters and that is a huge part of my enjoyment in reading them. This series is a spinoff of the Mercy Thompson series. The timelines in both series are connected and if you read both series I think you get a boost of enjoyment, but once again, if you haven’t read Mercy’s stories I don’t think it will take away from enjoying Charles and Anna’s and Burn Bright was a really engaging story on it’s own merit.
I love anything by Patricia Briggs. Her characters are so likable and the action just keeps coming.
I am a fan of Briggs, have read all of her books, and enjoyed every one.
