In the latest in this New York Times bestselling series, matrimony and murder collide as San Francisco book-restoration expert Brooklyn Wainwright walks down the aisle…Brooklyn has it all covered. She’s triple-checked her wedding to-do list, and everything is on track for the upcoming ceremony with the love of her life, security expert Derek Stone. Not everyone has been as lucky in love as … has been as lucky in love as Brooklyn. Brooklyn was caught in the middle and hasn’t seen her former besties since their falling-out. When they both arrive in town for the annual librarians’ convention and then show up at her surprise bridal shower, Brooklyn is sure drama will ensue. But she’s touched when the women seem willing to sort out their differences and gift her rare copies of The Three Musketeers and The Blue Fairy Book.
Brooklyn’s prewedding calm is shattered when one of her formerly feuding friends is found murdered and Brooklyn determines that one of the rare books is a forgery. She can’t help but wonder if the victim played a part in this fraud, or if she was targeted because she discovered the scam. Each book in this wonderful series is better than the last! The series is populated with so many wonderful, funny and quirky characters that you just want to plan a huge dinner and invite them all over! The books are filled with humor and such wonderful descriptions of San Francisco that you feel as if you live there yourself. Great writing, great humor, great mystery and a lovely romance the series, and this book has them all!
Brooklyn and Derek’s wedding is just days away. All of the arrangements are made and she even has her bags packed for their honeymoon in Paris. So, what is she to do to fill the few days until the big event? Well, she’s going to attend and do a workshop, a talk and a Book Lovers Tour of San Francisco for twenty contest winners at the National Librarians Association conference held just a few blocks from her home. That should surely keep the wedding jitters away. NOT.
While on the convention floor, she is greeted by an old graduate school friend, Heather, that she hasn’t spoken to in over twelve years. Brooklyn is not sure how she feels about seeing Heather because their friendship didn’t end well. Once, Brooklyn, Heather, and Sara we the best of friends and were known as The Three Musketeers. Then, Sara stole Heather’s boyfriend and the friendship was fractured beyond repair.
Leave it to Brooklyn to end up trying to help solve a murder before she says her wedding vows when one of her friends ends up dead and another is a suspect. Can Brooklyn and Derek solve the murder and still make it to the altar on time? You’ll just have to read this delightful book to find out.
One of the things I loved about the book was how absolutely joyous Brooklyn was as she looked forward to her marriage. There is no second-guessing in that relationship. If you add Derek’s delightful family to Brooklyn’s sweet, quirky one – you have a marriage and family made in heaven.

“I requested and received this e-book at no cost to me and volunteered to read it; my review is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher.”
What a clever and engaging protagonist and story. I am so happy to be able to recommend Kate Carlisle’s mysteries to my readers!
I absolutely love this series and this book definitely did not disappoint! Brooklyn is about to finally get married, but there is a book convention, a forgery, a murder and more going on that may prevent Brooklyn from finally getting her happily ever after if she doesn’t figure out what is going on and do so fast! Fantastic character development with a funny and interesting plot to keep you intrigued as you flip the pages! Just don’t go to fast or you’ll end up being sad like me as you sit waiting for the next book to be written!
I received an advanced copy of of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. This is part of the Bibliophile Mystery Series, but don’t worry, if you haven’t read any of the others in this series, you can read this as a stand-alone. Brooklyn and Derek are about to get married, in fact it’s their wedding weekend. She is attending a conference in their hometown, he is attending to a few last minute details at work. Their families are gathering in Dharma in nearby wine country. She reconnects with some gradschool friends. It never fails however that she stumbles upon a body. So, while attending to conference details, wedding details, and family, she and Derek and their friend the local Detective, they must solve a murder before they can get married. This is a great book and one that I highly recommend!
It’s finally here the day we’ve been anticipating. Brooklyn and Derek are getting married!!! But as they are them there must be more to the wedding week than simple fun and lots of preparations. Brooklyn attends a conference nearby to give her something to do besides obsess over the details when she runs into an old friend from grad school. When their old bff turned frenemy also shows up things get sticky. When the frenemy turns up dead the bride and groom have less than a week to figure out who done it.
A delightful mystery with a wonderful happy ending wedding. Loved meeting all the family. An absolutely fabulous read!
Brooklyn and Derek’s wedding is fast approaching and she has everything under control. While at a library convention being held in town, Brooklyn runs into her two roommates from college whom she hasn’t seen in twelve years. Sara stole Heather’s boyfriend and the friendship imploded. When they’re both at Brooklyn’s surprise shower, they seem to work things out and they each give Brooklyn a rare book. However, Brooklyn discovers that one of them is a forgery then she finds Sara’s body. Can Brooklyn and Derek find the killer before their wedding day?
I’m really enjoying this series and this book is a prime example of why. It’s well-written with well-rounded characters, some of whom you’ll like and others you won’t. The interaction between the characters is well done and believable. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and read this book in one sitting. The mystery will keep you guessing throughout. I’m looking forward to the next book very much. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order.
I loved this story as I do the whole series so far.
Brooklyn is preparing for her wedding, and also helping at the library convention, when two of her college roommates appear after years of separation that began with a huge fight. When one of them turns up dead, Brooklyn tries to help get it cleared up so there isn’t a black cloud hanging over her wedding.
It was a good mystery that kept me guessing, which tied up nicely at the end. I loved being able to revisit with some favorite characters, I adore the relationship that Brooklyn’s mother and soon to be mother in law have, they had me laughing.
I will continue on with this series.
Brooklyn and Derek are getting married, the bags are packed and the bridal shower is a go, Brooklyn just needs to wrap a few things up. Her mom unknowingly invites her now enemies, college besties to the shower. Sara and Heather became enemies in college and Brooklyn has not kept up with either girl since. One of the girls gifts her with a very expensive first edition , and murder ensues. Great plot, enjoyable characters, and a wonderful neighborhood.
Love this series! Well-written and fun.
Entertaining, main character is charming but dialog a little stilted.
Love the entire series
The characters are great and the action keeps you guessing right up to the end.
Too much cuteness, everyone is beautiful with money.
I really like this series. The characters are like friends that you want to succeed.
A good weekend read in front of the fire.
In this “Bibliophile Mystery”, San Francisco book-restoration expert Brooklyn Wainwright is preparing for her wedding, while leading workshops at the annual librarian’s convention. Two of her best friends from her college days surprise Brooklyn by turning up at the event. Old resentments flair up and a murder occurs, and it all somehow connects back to a rare copy of The Three Musketeers. Buried in Books is a delightful cozy, filled with feisty female characters and a page-turning final showdown.
One of my favorite series. I love Brooklyn and her world. Who knew finding out about book binding would be so fascinating or that it would lead to so many murders. Hee lovely finance and former secret agent is her perfect foil and in this book you get her mother and his, separated at birth, together again. A very fun romp through San Francisco that no longer exists in reality and the Napa Valley commune her parents live in with a huge cast of characters.
This series never disappoints. I adore Brooklyn and her gang of family and friends. Filled with twists, turns, pivots, and sidesteps, this case kept me guessing and gasping straight through to the end. I hope we get many more adventures with the newlyweds. I can guarantee I’ll be reading them!
This is a great seres. Each one gets better. A very relaxed and enjoyable read.
Another great book in Kate Carlisle’s bibliophile series. We finally get the wedding between Derek and Brooklyn, get to meet Derek’s family and see them interact in Dharma. The wedding itself and the events leading up to is are action-packed, with a good amount of intrigue throughout. Not a standalone – it would definitely help to read the previous books in the series first. If you’re familiar with the books, you will really enjoy this one.
