Death. For everyone, even immortals, there is nothing after death. No takebacks, no comebacks. It’s a full stop. The end of a story. The end of everything. For Sophie, it’s little more than a comma. A prelude. A footnote in her true destiny. She was fated to die. Many times. To know what lay beneath in the underworld. To bring the darkness back with her.It has been patient, that power that brought her … that power that brought her back.
But now, it’s ready.
She is ready, for her true beginning.
For the end of everyone standing in her way.
Starting with a wolf she once loved.
A vampire she once treasured.
Destiny will wait for her no longer.

Fourth book of the Vein Chronicles, Buried Destiny is progressively darker than the previous books in the series. It’s a bit terrifying actually, but also something you can’t put down. The detail in this book is specific and very graphic, but it’s what helps tell the story better.
I love this world. This series is starting to become one of my favourite all-time PNR/Fantasy romance reads. It’s completely different to what you’d normally get. You definitely get a lot of heartbreak, you get a lot of violence, darkness and blood. But you also get a lot of heart, love and a lot of lightness added to your soul. It’s magical in every single way.
I feel this book has literally ripped me apart and then roughly stitched me just so I can be ripped apart again. And repeat as I move through the book!
I was on my knees at the end of the last one and it took a while to get to my feet, only to be knocked down again. For immortals, this lot pack a hell of an emotional but to do your emotions!
I need wine………and chocolate! STAT!
Oh wow, this one was dark! So since I’ve read the whole Vein Chronicles series, I knew it was not the end for Sophie, but I was not prepared for what happened after she was out of the ground! So I have to be honest, the Vein Chronicles is not my favorite of Anne Malcom, but because I have loved all her other work I’ve read, I kept up with this series. I am so glad I did, I definitely went through a whole range of emotions; I was shocked, I cringed, I was so saddened and also did a little swooning. Sophie’s story is tough, there were many scenes that were hard to take but I can say I was not disappointed. As much as I love the strong and bada$$ heroines in Sophie and Isla, for me I loved Conall and his fierce and absolute love of Sophie. What an absolute wild and bumpy ride this one was!
Buried Destiny is book four in Anne Malcom’s The Vein Chronicles series. This book continues on from Eternity’s Awakening, if you haven’t read the previous books in this series, STOP right now and go and read them.
To bring the darkness back with her.
It has been patient, that power that brought her back.
But now, it’s ready.
She is ready, for her true beginning.
For the end of everyone standing in her way.
Starting with a wolf she once loved.
A vampire she once treasured.
Destiny will wait for her no longer.
I love it when a book is following different POV’s and this book was done with exceptional skill, it never felt over done or like you were missing out on what was happening, it was fantastic.
This book took me on an emotional roller coaster, filled with ups and downs. It was full of angst, suspense, heartache, prophecy, darkness and betrayal. I do have to admit there were several times I had to put my E-reader down so I could catch my bearings, I wanted to scream, punch and de-limb a few characters at times.
I did really enjoy reading this book as it was very over due and anticipated, after the ending of Eternity’s Awakening with Sophie’s death, I wanted to see what was in store for Isla and the Scooby Gang. What I did not expect or was too happy about was Scotty, why Anne, why you gotta do me like that?
A well written story with intriguing, underestimated, powerful and kicka** characters. I can’t wait to see what is in store for us in the next book, I do have a few theories as to who the three are, who the next book is going to follow, so I’ll be keeping my eye out for any hints to see if I was close.
Underworlds collide battle continues. Sophie life continues to be a great heartbreak after another especially for a bad to the bone witch.
The storyline covers them all.
Friendships are beyond tested, relationships shattered alliances formed to end the war that is brewing between all the supernatural beings.
This is at times quite dark read and very emotional.
The struggle for power is real, love is real, loss is heartbreaking.
I will say it again, I really wish this series was turned into something that I could binge-watch on Netflix because it is so good. The world-building, the characters, the connections, the friendships, the snark (Good Lord Isla hasn’t lost her quick wit), and the plots and twists in this series are the stuff that I live for. Even though I rarely read PNR because it really isn’t my favorite, I will ALWAYS make an exception for this author because she is that good. It took me a little bit to get back into the story as it has been a while since I read the previous books. Even though I remembered parts of it, it would have been good to have a re-read of this before reading this in order to be familiar again. That being said, it didn’t take that long in order to have it all come flying back.
I , also struggled toward the end as the book was gearing up for the pinnacle of the story. It took me reading that part a couple of times to fully get what was going on and the message behind it. Even, then I am a little confused as it ended pretty open to what the future holds, not just for these two characters but also for the series as a whole. While this was not my favorite of the series, it still was good. I look forward to the next book this author writes. It can be PNR or MC and I won’t care because this author is truly one of the best out there.
Gah! I just LOVE being back in this awesome world with some of my favorite characters. Buried Destiny had my adrenaline pumping pretty much the entire time. This book is nonstop and kept me guessing until the end. I love this series so much! I can’t wait for more!
Once again Anne hasn’t disappointed with this once. I knew this one would be worth the wait but I was blown away. Isla and Sophie are just amazing woman. They have each other’s back but they pull no punches and are honest, how friends should be. Don’t wanna give too much away but you won’t regret this one at all.
No spoilers of any kind included.
I thought Buried Destiny was fantastic!
Anne Malcom just has this amazing skill of weaving a story to the point that her readers just get completely lost within the book and they forget where they are until they get to the end of the story.
So it’s going to be a yes I most definitely do recommend this book because I loved it and I think you will too.
But if you haven’t read the books before this one then I highly suggest that you do because it’s always best to start at the very beginning.
I think I should warn you to buckle up and prepare yourself for Sophie because her story is fantastically dark and deliciously scary. If you thought she was force of nature before just wait until you see the witch gone dark. I love every scene with Isla and Sophie the dynamics of their relationship is fascinating. Anne has written such an intense story that doesn’t have twists instead Sophie’s actions through a hand grenade into their world and not everyone will make out it alive. A battle is waging but who is going to win?
Buried Destiny
Sophie finally makes her debut in a dramatic fashion and it’s nothing if not gloriously DARKA war is coming and it might be the end…..
So much happened in this one but I feel as though I can’t go into to much detail as I’d ruin it for those of you, who are still waiting to read this…but I will say this, I’m looking forward to the Vampire King and his human finding an HEA and I’m hoping the Demon bartender will find his voice and tell Anne his story too A not to be missed story by Anne and if you haven’t started this series and you love paranormal like I do, put this on your TBR list ASAP
I received an advanced copy and I voluntarily leave my honest review
Anne Malcom’s Buried Destiny, found in the Such Violent Delights anthology, is a piece of Anne Malcom’s psyche that begins in her Vein Chronicles series with Book 1, Fatal Harmony. And you must definitely read this series! (and honestly, all of her other books, too!) Once you read this, you will understand!
I can’t possibly explain how an author can create the fantastic worlds that she does in each of her series. Through the depth of her characters, we FEEL Sophie, Isla, and Conall. We embrace the supernatural as if we live it daily-its death and its destiny. Actions speak louder than words, except in the case of Anne Malcom, whose words create the biggest actions of all!
Buried Destiny is the fourth installment in the entertaining Vein Chronicles Vampire Series. It is dark, intense, and, at times, heart breaking. The characters seem larger than life, especially Isla and Sophie. And the way Anne Malcom crafts this unique and original tale is pure magic. If you love intrigue, sarcasm, and over the top female warriors, with plenty of blood, high fashion, and saving the world, you will enjoy this whole series immensely. 5 Magical Stars!
Before you read this EPIC episode of Sophie, you MUST start from the beginning of the series. These books need to be read in order- the first being Fatal Harmony.
PNR is not my thing. But I ADORE the author and her other work, so I decided a while back to give it a whirl. And I was SUCKED in immediately! Isla is snarky like you e never seen, and her best girlfriend Sophie is a close second. Each book in the series is completely over the top in action, romance of a unique breed, and chock full of loyalty and friendship.
This episode of Sophie and her wolf hold all the action of the previous 3 (and the Novella), but also a lot more pain and soul searching. It was a wild ride, with an explosive ending!
Oh wow, I absolutely loved, loved this!! Hang on because you are in for a wild ride with Buried Destiny. You will go through so many emotions , get questions answered, but also gain more. Anne sure does know how to write an emotional and exceptional read.
Really enjoyed Sophie’s take on things. She has so much on her shoulders. She is going to need her friends and family so much here. Sophie’s fate hangs in the air, will she succumb to the darkness? Or will the light win? Will she be able to make up for what was done when she was on her rampage?
Conall is what every mate should be. He will do anything for her, and love what she gives. He is so freaking
awesome.
If you are looking for a good book, one about light and dark, hate and forgiveness, heartbreak and love. This book is for you. I would very highly recommend this series, and this author.
I have waited for this book rather impatiently, and finally I got my hands on it and dived right in. This story dragged me through hell right along with Sophie and had me frustrated, mad and crying beside her too. Anne knows how to take her readers on the ride and then some!
Sophie is the bad-ass bitch-witch best friend of Isla the vampire and her story picks right up where Eternity’s Awaking leaves off. When Sophie comes back from the dead she brings with her something evil that tries to destroy everything in its’ path, but it didn’t count on the mate that Sophie left behind.
Sophie and Conall’s story is amazing, has the twists and turns Anne’s known for and some surprises along the way. The ending though……
When I heard Anne Malcom had a new book out I was so excited but I hadn’t realised this was book 4 in the Vein Chronicles but I was honestly hooked from the beginning on this dark and twisted road.
I wasn’t sure how this story was going to play out but I loved it. The main character Sophie was strong, feisty and seriously kickas*. The chemistry between her and Conall was seriously hot, I thought my kindle was going to combust, but the friendship between Sophie and Isla was everything!
If your looking for a great PNR book surrounded in friendship, love, loyalty mixed in with feisty and violence then this is the one for you.
I can’t decide if I need to sob, cheer, or go buy shoes. The 4th installment in the Vein Chronicles packs a punch to its readers. A dark witch, a dark vampire, and other supernatural beings are revisited. Sophie gets her day, but will we get her back? How much do her friends have to endure to see her safe. This is dark, my friends, but so worth it.
You do need to read the first 3 or you will find yourself swirling in a dark whirlpool of wonder.
They’re back, and they’re amazing and bada$% as EVER! Get ready for more Isla and Sophie like you’ve never seen this dynamic duo before! Buried by Destiny, the fourth installment in the Vein Chronicles by Anne Malcom, was so not what I expected, yet it was also more. I so, so loved the fierce friendship we get from Isla and Sophie, almost more than the romance between “the wolf and his moon”. Just almost, but not quite. The emotion and heat that Anne Malcom poured into this story was to die for, and I couldn’t get enough. I can’t wait to see where the rest of this story goes!
Well now I can confidently say I am officially a PNR fan! I have read a few here and there but this is the first series that completely engrossed me. I have been binge reading all of Anne’s work the past few months and honestly was not sure if this series would be for me but I love her words and took the plunge. I am so thrilled I did.
Her characters are rich and complex. She writes stories that just completely take you away. Friendship and loyalty are interwoven into a dark and intense story of revenge and darkness.
