THIS REVIEW IS FOR BOTH THE AUDIOBOOK AND EBOOK VERSIONS
Very interesting plot, full of action. Really enjoyed the characters. The narrator done a wonderful job with these characters. I would recommend this book.
I am enjoying this series! It does not follow a set of characters but side lines. This one focuses on Michael Brody who we met in book one. Eighteen years ago a bus load of school children disappeared, including his brother, and two years later one of those children walked out of the woods, near death, and with no memory. Now, bones have been discovered and the missing bus but still not his brother. Michael is hot on the mystery and looking for Chris, the boy who walked out the woods and has been missing for years, and starts with his sister, Jamie. The chemistry between them is undeniable and when The Ghost takes her Michael is out of his mind. This one is full of twists and turns and the ultimate twist.
Audible. Also available to borrow ebook/audio via KU. This is one of those books that’s less expensive to buy the ebook & add-on the audio ($6.98 for both at the time of this review).
4.5 stars. I like the first two. I loved this one. I felt like there was a better flow to the story and even though we have insight into who the killer is ~ there’s still a lot of mystery in that he’s not alone. I felt like this was a good mix of mystery, suspense, & romance. Luke Daniel’s narration was fantastic. He did a great job of giving each character a unique voice and I always knew exactly who was talking whether it was specifically noted or not.
I think the fact that we met Michael Brody in Hidden (book 1) and we see/hear from several of those characters really helps with immersion into the story. I don’t think that anyone HAS to have listened to Hidden & Chilled to enjoy this though. Michael, Jamie Jacobs, and her brother, Chris are thrust into the search for a kidnapper & killer when the remains of an unsolved mystery are uncovered. There were several plot twists that I didn’t see coming that elevated this story even further. I was hooked from beginning to end.
I will continue to listen in order, but am definitely looking forward to Chris’s book.
I really enjoyed this book.
Kendra Elliot has written her best book to date and show’s why this series is called bone secrets.
Twenty years ago a school bus with nine children and the driver just vanished. Two years later one survivor walked out of the Cascade Mountains with no memory and near death.
Now it is eighteen years later and a grisly discovery has been made. They have found the mass grave of the children and others that were not on the bus but one child is still unaccounted for, that is our hero Michael Brody’s brother.
Fans of the series will remember Michael from the first book as the intense reporter ex-boyfriend of forensic odontologist Lacey Campbell. He is just as intense in this book in his quest to find out what happened to his brother and why his bones are not with the others. This quest leads him to the sister of the lone survivor who he now desperately wants to talk to. But Chris Jacobs has been in hiding and no one knows where he is. Jamie Jacobs is a principal and needs to have order in her life since her brothers abduction and return. She can’t just up and leave at the spur of the moment even if it is to help find her brother. That is, until she is attacked by why looks to be the man that tortured her brother all those years ago.
Mason Callahan and Ray Lusco with the Oregon State Police Major crimes are also back in this book and these two are such a hoot together.
This was a heartbreaking tale especially since it dealt with children. The author did a fantastic job of taking us through the discovery, the ME reports and the investigation on who had done this and a few other big twist that lead up to a shocking ending.
Buried…what can I say. Initially, I have not been a big fan of suspense romance but have gotten hooked. I am enjoying this series by KE which has given me a bit of background on Lacy Campbell from later reads I have completed.
Enjoyed very much and now on to the next in the series.
