This is the 10th book in the Reed Security Series and it is recommended that they are read in order.“Blake, I want to keep it a secret.”I was pacing back and forth in the doctor’s office. Emma didn’t want to know, but I needed to know. “You don’t understand. I need to know.”“Why?”“Because, everyone so far has had girls. Girls! I need to know if we’re going to have to buy more guns.”“Really? You … have to buy more guns.”
“Really? You don’t think we have enough in the house already?”
I gripped her by the shoulders and shook her slightly. “Do you know what boys are like? Teenage boys are horny and they’ll do or say anything to get in a girl’s pants. I know. I was one of them.”
“So, you’re telling me that you lied to girls in high school so you could have sex?”
“Yes!” It was like she was just coming to the conclusion that all boys were scoundrels. “Do you understand now?”
“Well, if all boys are like that, then I’d rather have a girl.”
“What? What sense does that make?”
“Well, we only have to worry about her getting pregnant once. Imagine all the girls we would have to worry about if we had a boy. He could be out there sowing his wild oats all over town. We could potentially have hundreds of grandchildren in one year. And then it’s not just the girls you have to worry about, but those dads. Imagine if one of those dads was one of your coworkers. What do you think Mark would say if our son knocked up his little girl?”
“Sinner would probably be giving her notes,” I said in irritation.
“Okay, then imagine it was Knight’s daughter. Kate’s due in just two months and they already know they’re having a girl. Do you really think that Knight wants our future son deflowering his daughter?”
I took a step back and shuddered at the thought of what Knight would do to me if we had a boy and he knocked up his little girl. I imagined car bombs, torture sessions, lengthy interrogations, and deadly scars from the knives he would use on me. “We should definitely have a girl.”
Blake “Burg” Reasenburg has it all. A woman he loves, a new baby, and the greatest job he could want. But that all changes in just the blink of an eye. Less than a 10% chance to survive is what the doctors tell them. There’s nothing he can do to save her. There’s nothing he wouldn’t give to trade places with her.
This book was inspired by true events.

They fell in love hard and fast and neither saw the other one coming. Blake know he can’t live another day without Emma at his side, ss always, the rest of the team make it interesting trying to explain how women work when Blake want to ask Emma to move in with him, but he doesn’t care he still wants her with him even after such a short time.
Blake gets protective while Emma’s pregnant, from the morning sickness to her carrying anything, driving Emma crazy and wanting to kill him.
Everything was perfect, only Emma wasn’t feeling the best after having Ryker and a routine examination changes, everything.
Blake knew he could fight anything, he could protect anyone but, this was something he couldn’t help, your shown every emotion they go through, every struggle, as they both battle with their friends and family by their side.
This the 10th book in the series and it’s brilliant, actually they are all brilliant. But this one just has that little bit more that a lot of people can relate to, Blake has the woman of he’s dreams and everything is perfect especially when she finds out they are having a baby, but life’s cruel twists find her diagnosed with a really rare cancer with only a 10% chance of survival. This story is really raw and tells you about their story and the journey of this awful disease. The description of Emma’s feelings and thoughts are brilliant and Giulia really did do her homework when writing this book. As with all the ‘Reed Security’ books there’s still the dry humour along the way that will make you smile….. Another fantastic edge of your seat read by Giulia Lagomarsino..
This story dealt with real life issues as Derek and Emma navigate through their loving relationships in the midst of dealing with Emma’s cancer.
Kudos to the author for tackling such an emotional health issue in this well written dramatic romance.
I loved the way Derek shows his commitment and love for Emma again and again. Emma’s strength as she deals with her treatments and recovery were also well described and portrayed. I also liked the way their friends and family rallied together to help this couple get through the daily grind as they deal with and overcome obstacles to their HEA.

The Reed Security series just continues to impress. Burg is one addition that hits right in the feels and doesn’t let up! Anyone who has dealt with the big C or other serious illness can attest to the emotional rollercoaster the author depicts very well in this story. Her characters are always full of great dialogue, intense love and well developed. A great read!

This is the 10th book in the Reed Security Series and it is recommended that they are read in order. What a story well written and I needed a Kleenex at some point in this story. Each page flows smoothly from one to the other pulling you into the story. Emma and Blake / Burg have so much to deal with when she is diagnosed the Author handled this with care and dignity. Their friends helped a lot. I especially liked the wedding scenes. I recommend this book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have to say that while this is not the type of book I seek out, I absolutely loved this book. The physical and emotional rollercoaster that Emma and Blake take us on while she is battling breast cancer leaves you emotionally wrecked. We all know someone that has been touched by this terrible disease, and while they might not all react the way that Emma does it gives you new clarity that many may react this way.

Blake and Emmas story is heartbreaking and tissues are need through out the story. Though I feel for Emma some times I want to knock her up side the head. Their journey is long and tenuous. Getting their HEA is rough.

This is the tenth book in this phenomenal series, and this one is an emotional roller coaster journey from beginning to end. Plenty of tissues required!! Blake and Emma’s story is emotional and heartbreaking. This author has certainly upped the ante with this story, as her sensitivity to such a tough and major health problem plot, is an intriguing, raw, gritty, emotional, and heartbreaking read. I was totally captivated throughout, and I cannot wait to read more from this exceptionally talented author, whose work I highly recommend for all.
The best of the series yet.

Wow! Everyone will definitely be able to relate to this book in some way. *spoilers*
Cancer touches EVERYONE in one way or another. This book brings to light the very personal struggle of one form of cancer but from many different perspectives. Whether it is as the patient/survivor or the family member/friend that is along for that journey. It touched and affected each person in this story in some way. Burg was such an amazing male lead in this book. Truly the rock and cornerstone of the family. Even in his weakest moments he still strived to take the best possible care of his family. Emma’s struggles throughout were so intense that the reader truly got an understanding of her plight. So many don’t realize that depression, especially after treatments are through, is so common. Their struggle really came off the pages. And it was so easy to see both sides. Emma’s frustration and isolation because her new norm wasn’t anything she could understand until she went through it. Burg’s frustration and need to push forward and live the life they thought they wouldn’t have. This story gave true perspective and light as to the struggles families go through after such a life-altering experience. This book also showed that every survivor story is unique and how everyone handles things varies so greatly that no one can put it in any box and label it. What an amazing journey to have been able to go on with these characters. And, as always, the comedic relief at moments was so perfect. These books definitely show all the spectrums of life and emotion. Burg is gonna make everyone fall in love, with the author and the characters!
