Great literature? Not hardly. But what a hoot! This is a lightweight mystery, but with significant convolutions and surprises. The plot is satisfactory if not overly complicated, the characters, at least some, are fairly well-developed, but the characteristic that really carries this book are the style and humor. I frequently giggled as the …
Any new, first-time mother will relate to Kate Connolly, the wannabe sleuth in this book, the first in the author’s cozy Maternal Instincts Mystery Series, even though at times she steps over the line into TSTL territory. Blame the post-pregnancy hormones. After all, Kate has just given birth. Yet suddenly she finds herself investigating several …
An enjoyable vacation read. Really like the writing.
Fun reading enjoyed the characters, didn’t want it to end.
different approach.
This was a great little cozy mystery. There are plenty of twists and turns, not too crazy as to be unrealistic but, unpredictable enough to keep it exciting.
There’s not a whole lot of action. (And unlike the cover, no cat.) I can see mothers really liking this book and being able to relate to the main character.
I would highly recommend this …
What a combination: child birth and murder solving! Great descriptions.
Just what every first time mom does…becomes a PI before her maternity leave is up.
I liked it a lot, it was funny and mysterious, in fact I then purchased the next book.
interesting concept a bit out there,
didn’t like it
GREAT. EASY TO READ. GOOD READ DURING WAIT AT THE DOCTOR’S OFFICE.
Did not like the character or her behavior. Not really a good book at all, but I did finish it.
kinda odd newborns mother investigating crime and dragging the baby along but i read the book and it was a good story
Delightful characters
This is the first of a series. New mom starts new profession. It’s interesting without being too challenging – nothing that will scare you into staying up all night,
I even laughed aloud several times. Fun read.
Not too realistic at all. Had a hard time wading through it. The whole premise was absurd!
Easy quick read. Although the author uses pregnancy and new baby in the title and cover of the book it has absolutely nothing to do with the story. The constant mention of baby, nursing, pregnancy brain and other new mom scenarios is worn out in this work.
Thought it was a good book and hard to put down.
Nice easy read, cozy mystery is quite accurate, light and airy in spite of a number of murders. Main character and hubby seem just normal everyday people so easily relatable. Interesting formating of chapters by using to do lists … Used, I guess, to make the series unique. Planning to read more by this author under this series and a number of …
