He is witty, and sparring jokes with his friends, while nursing a drink. A born prosecutor, a call wanting him to take a case. A prominent surgeon, guilty of killing his wife, a question, since there is no body, nor witnesses, and no evidence. A case, that would task his energy and brain, and may he lose. If one reads his book, you relishes his style, the humor, and how he plays in the court room. They are never dull, and always looking for the next. Really like Levine and his characters and court scenes.
The Jake Lassiter character is so likable he makes the reading fun.
Another great book with Lassiter taking on the role on prosecutor! As always, great story. I think this was one of the best!
I have a bunch of these I hadn’t read. Read this one and have read four others since.
Jake played pro football. Now Jake’s brain is giving him fits. Just when he thinks he has found the love of his life and things are looking up.
Oh yeah, the DA forces him to prosecute a total loser case. If Jake loses the DA doesn’t have to take the blame. And, if by some miracle, Jake wins, the DA looks good, his most powerful financial backer is happy, and the DA gets a chance to run for governor.
What could possibly go wrong?
I always enjoy reading the Jake Lassinter books. I just love the character. His sense of humor along with the mystery. You never know what is going to happen next, Keeps you turning the pages.
Love, love love this whole series! Fabulous char acters, laugh out loud humor, great dialogue, exciting plot. Can’t ask for more! Except more of the same please.
Love his books, all of his books. Am secretly in love with Jake Lassiter. Big plus it takes place in Florida.
Always a good entertaining read
Four star book. Sorry to see Jake go. I have read them all and was never disappointed.
I love characters and always enjoy a book by Paul Levine!
have enjoyed the series for an eon…
This is a wonderfully entertaining book. The story was intreguing and fast paced yet witty and fun to read. I look forward to pick it up and continue, but not wanting it to end.
it’s great when an author has great characters, but it’s really great when they all get together in the same book. It’s even better than when Laverne and Shirley wound up in Happy Days! This books brings to life the very real problem of brain injuries created by concussions from football in a very life affirming way. And the lawyers are the only ones I like! Of course, it’s fiction! The case is interesting as Paul Levine’s lawyers find themselves on the opposite sides of the court, and justice is actually served.
