Hate is a strong word, but it doesn’t even come close to how I feel about him.Colby Carter was a monster.Savage, brutal and evil to the core.He wasn’t always that way. There was a brief time when he was polite, caring and kind. But something dark and twisted crept in and took over, and he claimed me as his victim. When he skipped town I could finally breathe again. I tried to make something of my … skipped town I could finally breathe again. I tried to make something of my life, to find happiness, but Colby obviously didn’t want me getting too comfortable.
Five years have passed and now he’s back in town, a little too close to home, and I have no doubts in my mind that my personal hell is about to unfold once again.
Only this time I don’t know if I’ll be strong enough to survive it.

Whilst i really wanted to love this book, i found that although the writing was good, the story just really frustrated me.
He was her best friends brother, and loved to torment her. Then he left and now 5 years after no contact with either her or her sister he’s back, accompanied by his slut of a girlfriend.
Obviously they have had a past, but we got lots of hints yet no real answers. I couldn’t really get any feeling for either character, and dare i say i just didn’t like the tiny snippets we learned of Colby. I normally love an ass****, and getting to know their hidden side that redeems them, but i didn’t feel anything about him that would capture me.
The book is short and a novella, so i am sure more is to come.
But my problem is that with it being short, it didn’t give me the feels that i needed to become invested and want to know more of their story. I think it had a lot more potential, but in this case unfortunately i ended the book no wiser about their relationship or where it could go, which left me kind of flat.
This was an interesting read but there were some gaps in the story that left me puzzled. Why were Willow and Colby at odds? The writing was good but maybe this just wasn’t my kind of story. Others may enjoy reading it.
Oh I do love me some alphahole in books and that’s exactly what Colby is and I love it!
When I stumbled upon the description for this book I knew it would be something I’d want to read and boy, was I right. This book includes everything I love. An alphahole and his prey.
Colby disappeared for 5 year. He upped and left everything behind but now it’s time to come back, for business and things are about to kick off. Colby is an arrogant a—hole when it comes to one certain woman. He’s cocky and sure of himself. He knows what he wants and won’t stop until it happens.
Willow is a smart and beautiful woman. Growing up was awful for her but thanks to her best friend and their family she always has a safe place to be until the brother of her best friend and his friend started making her life hell. Fast forward a couple years and Colby being back, things are going to be interesting.
This story had me captivated from the get go, watching the reactions to Colby being back has been fun, he’s an a—hole and you gotta love to hate those kind of males in books.
This book doesn’t leave on a cliff hanger but more like a to be continued..I can’t wait to see what book two has in store for these two but I damn well know it’s gonna be interesting!
This is my first read from Lacey Heart and it’s been awesome, I can’t wait to read more in the future.
Heading back to her hometown after a few years, she doesn’t give her best friend, Hadley much notice, but she just wants Willow happy, and Willow knows she will be eventually.
She knows her friend’s heart is breaking over her brother ignoring her, like he erased everything that mattered to him, she thought he would have kept in contact with his sister. They’d been best friends the three of them, until Colby turned on her and his games got worse.
Colby learnt that life never goes as planned, he had everything he ever wanted, nothing could take him away or so he thought. Returning to Redlake, he didn’t expect to see Willow in his home, also regretting bringing Tiffanie but wasn’t given a choice. Everything that’s happened has been because of Willow, and he wants to destroy her and make her suffer.
Willow learns that Colby isn’t back for his sister or her, he’s back for the business and to make her life miserable. Especially when she knows she’s missed him, missed the games and feeling alive, but then there’s Tiffanie and where has he been, she barely survived him last time, this time it would break her.
This was an interesting book. I wasn’t sure what would happen throughout.
Lacey Black did a good job with this book and emotions.
This story definitely peaked my interest. It’s everything I enjoy, and holds my attention well. It does have some editing issues, but nothing I couldn’t read through. Looking forward to more.
I got this as an ARC from Lacey and this isn’t my first read by her.
I love all of Lacey’s books and this one was so different from her others I have been waiting to get my hands on it.
It took me awhile to really get into it and I felt like it kinda repeating itself a few times in the beginning chapters.
But now that I have finished it I get it. This is book one of the series and it sets everything up. I did get sucked in right towards the end.
The history that Colby and Willow have has got me needing to get all the answers! Does he really hate her or is it all a stupid act?! I need to know @laceyheartauthor
Now I have to wait for more lol.
4⃣
I do recommend this book but warn it ends on a cliff!
Bully Me by Lacey Hart is the first book in the Bully Me Series which tells the story between Colby and Willow who are definitely enemies to begin with. The best friend to her tormentor’s sister, we see Willow trying to survive her childhood and who has grown into a beautiful and smart young woman.
We see the disappearance of Colby and his reappearance and what that means not only for Willow but also what it means for Colby too after having been away from his family for years and coming to terms with what he has missed out on and lost.
You also have a love/hate relationship with Colby as he is mean and ruthless and at sometimes uncaring and you never quite know if this is a façade or the true person that he is. The story is quick paced i.e. you can read it in one sitting and you are left with a cliff-hanger at the end. It will be interesting to see what happens to these characters and how their relationships develop in the next book.
ARC received for a fair and honest review.
