For twelve long years, I’ve breathed, I’ve bled for only one thing… men…they’re now three. The fourth—he is the reason they call me Bullseye. They can run, but sooner or later, I’ll find them, just as I did with their friend. They’re already dead…they just don’t know it yet.
My plan was simple until I met her. A fierce tiger who had the power to break my heart. Lucky for me…she can’t break what’s already broken. I am no longer a man because the world is a jungle, and we’re all just animals—ready to tear one another apart.

I loved how raw and all around gritty this story was. I loved how even though Bull thought he wasn’t worthy, Lily saw so much in him. I absolutely loved his character and all the layers there were to the mysterious man he was. Lily was also pretty badass. She loved hard and was loyal. She worked her ass off and was proud of who she was no matter what others thought. This book had a ton of suspense and craziness and then that cliffhanger? I can’t wait for more!
Holy.. fucking… shit.
I am not sure where to begin with this review. I’ve read this twice now and I’m still sitting here completely speechless and trying to find the right words to say. This book? THIS FUCKING BOOK?… Holy fuck. I knew going into this that the author was about to rip out my soul and eat it for lunch… But I didn’t even expect what I got.
Bullseye was something… Oh, fuck was he something. He is the definition of darkness and terror. A depraved animal and bad to the bone. Not a man you would want to fuck with. Ice cold and pure evil and I fucking loved him. I was and am obsessed with him. He’s after revenge and will stop at nothing until he gets it.
Lily was feisty, firing, with a flame inside her that burned so bright. She was strong and knew how to carry herself. She’s the type to try and help others before she helps herself. She is selfless to a fault. Her life hasn’t been easy and she is working her ass off to be the best she can be.
When fate brings Bullseye into Lily’s life… The chemistry between the two is undeniable and addictive. Lily should be scared of this man. She should be running in the other direction but she’s drawn to this man and he is drawn to her too. Lily wants to show him that there is more to him than getting revenge. These two had me squirming in my seat. The chemistry, passion, and the heat… Woah… They were fire and ice. I honestly cannot describe the feelings I was getting when it came to these two.
I would have to say this is Monica’s best work to date and that is hard for me to say because I love each book writes. But this? This wasn’t just a book or a start to an epic duet. It was an intense, all-consuming, addictive and insane start to an epic love story that I know is about to destroy me. The deeper I get into this plot, the more I feel like I’m losing my mind, my morals. It had me second-guessing all of that. How can I love a character so cold and evil? He was the devil… But I know that’s exactly what the author does and wants us to do.
I AM AT THIS AUTHORS MERCY RIGHT NOW!!!
Fucking loved it, and I cannot wait for book two. It cannot come soon enough!
This is a MUST READ!
6 Stars!!!
The Queen of dark romances has once again given us an incredible gripping, terrible emotional and brutal story.
A story that starts without hope and ends exactly the same way. This book will play with your mind, emotions and feelings and will wreck you completely. Holly sh*t I’m all over the place and don’t know how to describe this wreaking emotional havoc story.
Brace yourself for the hurricane that’s this story.
Bull is the incarnation of a bad and heartless criminal after a tragedy that changed his entire life.
He is out for revenge and no one and nothing can stop him. At least until he meets Tigerlily. He questions his emotions, which he thought he had lost in the past. He has a plan and the plan does not include a woman.
To bad because fate has other plans
Lily is a badass and a no nonsense woman. She has an agenda and men are not on it.
She does what she has to do to survive and has no time for distractions. Until she meets Bull. And Bull is more than just a distraction. He is like a magnet that doesn’t let her stay away. His fierce, brutal and strange behavior doesn’t change a thing.
This book is unbelievable exciting, dramatic, gripping, unpredictable and hot as hell – steamy.
Don’t expect a HEA in this dark and hopeless world. But maybe in the second Bullseye book, but who knows we are talking about Monica James here, so everything is possible. Unfortunately, the cliffhanger gave us no hope or indication either
Monica you’re killing me with this ending
I can’t wait to read the second book in April Hurry up!!!
Bullseye by Monica James is one of those dark reads that you can’t put down as it just enthralls you! The story centres around main characters Lily and Bull. Bull’s life changed 14 years ago and all he is out for is revenge. That is until he meets Lily, a girl in a strip club who has issues of her own. her in lies the twists and turns that make up their story, where nothing is what it seems. There is some definite chemistry between the two characters from the moment that they meet and you’re following along with their story at such a fast pace and are so captivated by the twisted writing.
As with any Monica James book there are twist and turns, intrigue, violence, supremely hot scenes and it certainly isn’t for the faint of heart. The story is also told by both characters so you really get to understand their psyche, what makes them tick and what has made them the people they are today. Of course, this book ends on a cliff-hanger, but don’t let that put you off. You’re going to want to read this one!
ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review
More of my reviews can be found on my blog: https://thehotmesslibrary.blogspot.com
What did I just read!? I don’t even know how to form my thoughts into words to write this review. Bullseye is addictive, dark, twisted and deliciously sexy from the very start. I couldn’t put this book down. The story will suck you in and steal your soul and don’t expect it back at the end, because it won’t happen.
Revenge. That is what Bull wants and he is willing to do anything and everything to get it. It doesn’t matter who he is going to hurt, he doesn’t care. Lily isn’t your everyday sweet little heroine. No, she is badass, feisty and I LOVE HER! The chemistry between these two is explosive, carnal, and animalistic. I couldn’t get enough of it.
I’m keeping this review short and sweet to avoid any spoilers, because honestly, this is one book you’ll want to read for yourself. I still need to pick my jaw off the floor after that cliffhanger of an ending and I can’t wait to read what I am sure will be the epic conclusion to Bull and Lily.
Bullseye is a MUST READ and easily one of my TOP READS of 2020.
This book surprised me with how much depth and emotion in it. The life that Bullseye had to live was a brutal one and one no child should have to live. And then when he gets older and to think all that he thinks about himself until he meets his Tiger. And she changes everything he thought he knew about what he wanted to do in life. And oh my god what he ended up doing to her at the end tore me apart!!! And I need book 2 now so I know what happens!!!! I so recommend this book!! – By Tina
A pair of motorcycle boots, size thirteen. A Harley-Davidson T-shirt. A pair of blue jeans ripped in both knees. A black hoodie. A leather wallet containing eighty-five dollars. And a silver necklace with a St. Christopher medallion. “Here is two hundred and fifty dollars, a map, and three condoms. You got someone picking you up?”
Hell Yeah! What a treat! Truthfuly I could read this story without the ‘romance’ factor and it would still kick ass! The suspence and his need to revenge is off the charts captivating! The more I read, the more I loved it!
I was hooked from the very first page and didn’t want the story to end. YOU NEED to read this book.
Bullseye is the first book in the The Monsters in the Dark Duet by Monica James. I have read many of Monica’s books and have loved them but there is just something about her dark romances that get to me. They are addicting, suspenseful, and hot AF. I can’t say anything more than the synopsis which I didn’t read until a few minutes ago. That’s how I roll.
Fourteen years. Fourteen years ago Bulleye’s life was forever changed. He died that night. Then two years later he took out one of the four monsters. And now, twelve years later he was free from the walls of prison to find the remaining three. He didn’t go in the same boy he once was. He was now a man without a heart. A man who had twelve years to plan. A man who won’t let anything get in his way. Not even her.
Lily loved to dance. Dancing around a pole was not part of her life’s plan but that’s what it has become. She was a ballerina. She did what she had to do to survive. Even if she had to deal with Bull, a man who makes her want to scream. There was something about him. He was hiding something. She shouldn’t care but she sees something in him that she she sees in herself which means he needs a friend. He warned her to stay away. She should have listened. But…
Well, I can’t say anything more than that but I can say that I didn’t want it to end. It’s everything I expected and more. And Monica has picked so fucking well for her cover model. He is Bull. He is one scary MF but damn is he protective, Swoony in his own way, and yummy!! Then there is Lily, she is beautiful inside and out and a total badass. Together, they are on fire!!
I can’t wait for the next book! Is is APRIL yet?!
Quotes:
Like a butterfly, she is so beautiful, but all I want to do is tear off her wings.
“Why? Why do you even care?” She sniffs back her tears, but it’s too late. I’ve seen them, and I want to claim each one.
With a cautious touch, I wipe away a stray tear with my thumb. “Because…no one makes you cry—” Her mouth parts.
“Be careful what you wish for. I’m not the Prince Charming in your story.”
Brace yourself because you might not be ready for this story!
Bullseye totally wrecked me, destroying my emotions piece by piece through the whole book but I freaking loved that storm of emotions building inside my guts.
This story is an amazing dark masterpiece and Bull and Tiger are unique characters, so beautiful outside but so broken underneath their beauty. Monica James outdid herself and it’s hands down the most thrilling story I’ve recently read. I love her romantic style of writing, but she slayed with dark romance.
It was incredibly emotional experience to discover, in this book, how fate can be tricky and cruel to put two people on the same path, destroying their life at the same time.
Bull was living his last twelve years with the hatred fulfilling his broken to the core heart and only revenge was keeping him alive. He became cold hearted, ruthless and merciless man with dangerous attitude.
His past was reflected in his tattoos which covered his whole body. He was struggling with his own monsters living inside his dark soul, which was lurking from the shadow and waiting to jump out and swallow his pray. But when Tiger suddenly appeared in his life and evokes unknown feelings inside of him, he was torn apart.
Tiger was talented young woman. She was a dancer and it was her huge passion. But her world was messed up and she was lost and broken inside.
Their connection was undeniable from the very first sight. Their attraction was pulling them closer and their chemistry was sizzling like a firecracker. She wasn’t afraid of his dangerous side even after finding out about his past.
Once the monster come out their are ripped out of the life they knowand learn truths that can destroy them both.
It was gritty and raw story which intrigued me and tugged my heartstrings in every way possible. GAH, I was constantly on the emotional edge with twist and turns in the story. My heart was literally pumping adrenaline through my veins as every chapter blast with action packed plot but the end of part one blew my mind completely and I’m freaking out to read part two immediately.
, , . … . ’ , , , , .
Holy Hell!!!
I mean come on!!!! I need more like today…. Holy cliffhanger Batman!
When I first read the blurb for Bullseyes I was like yup sign me up. And let me just say, it completely without a doubt pass every expectation I had. From beginning to the very end it is filled with sooo much suspense I couldn’t stop reading.
It was sexy, jaw dropping and had me sitting at the edge of my sit through the book.
I can not wait to get me hands on book 2!
„Bullseye” is a first book in a new series written by Monica James called ‘The Monsters Within Duet’. From the first pages this book is raw, dirty and tough.
First of all I really love this cover! It is so much hipnotizing! Can’t wait to see the second cover in this duet!
„Bullseye” is a story about revenge, love and longing. This isn’t a sweet love story with small problems. Here heroes have the enormous problems and they are alone in all of them.
Lily „Tiger” Hope is a dancer in a strip club. She is also a single parent for her young son. Lily is really strong heroine. Her life is hard and she is doing eveything for her child. In her life Lily met a lot of abandonment the persons whos she loved and now she know that life isn’t only a flowers and hearts. This small, but pugnacious Tiger is a perfect girl for Bull.
Because Bull is everything that his name says. He is like a real bull. Big, bloody and devasted. Lily is his angel in this dark, evil world.
They are perfect for each other, but their love needs a big sacrifice to be on forever.
When I started read this book, I was thinking that „Bullseye” wil bee about something different. But I don’t regret it! This book is a true masterpiece. It also the second book written by Monica James, which I’ve read. And now I need more and more.
„Bullseye” is a hard, intense, heartbreaking and sad story. The end has a little cliffhanger, but I really can wait to the second book in series. Thank You Monica for this. Really. My heart is so weak after read „Bullseye” and it doesn’t need this suffer with waiting.
„Bullseye” is a great book! When You will start a Bull’s and Lila’s story you will read it until the end. This book is a fantastic read and I highly recommend you this story.
‘My story doesn’t end with Prince Charming saving the princess and living happily ever after with her because…I killed the f***ing prince.’ – Bull
Every single book I read by Monica James leaves me on the edge of my seat. I devour the book, and in the process, I think I slowly lose my mind (in a great way). This is a book that you can’t help but fall for the villain, and you can’t help but be rooting for him to succeed. Bullseye is book one in the Monsters Within duet and I’m telling you book two can’t get here fast enough. I thought she threw me for a loop in her All the Pretty Things trilogy, but I was dead wrong. This book will have you begging for more, and just when you think you have something figured out, you find out you don’t know what you thought you knew.
Monica James has a way of writing that makes you feel like you’re a part of the story. I feel like she also throws all of your ideas for how you would handle things out the window. You know what is happening isn’t necessarily right, but you’re still okay with it happening because you know it has to. It’s weirdest but yet the best thing about her books. Bullseye is the definitely in my top reads of 2020 and it’s only February. Bring on book two!
“A coldhearted bastard. A depraved animal. My story doesn’t end with Prince Charming saving the princess and living happily ever after with her because… I killed the f#&king prince”
When you have a “woah” moment when reading a book, you know you’re reading an amazing story and there are many “woah” moments in Bullseye.
Monica James is a new author for me, I’ve heard so many good things about her stories and writing, so Bullseye was just the perfect way to start.
Bullseye is a raw, gritty tale of revenge. In some parts, it’s totally brutal. You can clearly understand how Bullseye arose from the ashes and I was completely rooting for him from the start. You want him to get his revenge….but it’s not an easy road for him when he meets Tiger.
I felt for Bull so much, a man full of anger and hurt, but deep down still a lovable man that does have feelings.
“A lone wolf, ready to tear apart anything that stands in my way”
Tiger, our heroine is full of fire. I loved her so much, again a character that has had to grow up quick due to not having an easy childhood. She would never give up on Bull.
“I wanted to share a part of myself with you. And I hope one day, you’ll do the same.”
“Every time you’re near me, I can’t take in enough air fast enough. You leave me breathless with your brutality because you live life unapologetically.”
This is book is part one of duet, there are questions going on in my head. Luckily we don’t have to wait long to see where this story goes. I loved Monica’s writing, her descriptions, just everything! What a story!

What’s this book about? (I’m trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
Bull wants revenge and he won’t let anyone derail him from his path to the darkest depths of hell… And then along came Lily.
This is my first Monica James read. And now I’m hooked and I want more. The promo campaign built up HIGH EXPECTATIONS for me, especially since I had never read James before. I’m more than pleased to announce that this book rocked me like a hurricane.
I had created a theory in my mind when I saw the trailer and all the promo material and to be fully honest, half of the stuff I thought would happen WERE NOWHERE TO BE SEEN. After the first couple of chapters, I reflected on what I had just read and I was like: HELL YEAH THIS IS GOING TO BE ONE HELL OF A RIDE! Bull captured my attention from page ONE. He’s anti-social, weird and on a mission. I LOVED HIM. I love myself an anti-hero. His backstory is full of hurt and trauma. He’s the type of hero who’s dark as hell, but there’s something charming (CALL ME WEIRD BUT THERE WAS SOMETHING INDISPUTABLY CHARMING ABOUT THIS MAN, I DARE YOU TO FIGHT ME ON THIS) about him and everyone BUT HIM sees it. Splendid. Bull had undeniable chemistry with everyone, from Tigers, Venuses to kitties. I felt the desperation in the characters’ actions through the author’s writing and also because it was set in the city that it was set in. I’m not going to say which city because I’m not sure if that counts as a spoiler. To me, the city was another aspect of the book that had me a 100% sold on it – I’ve never read a romance let alone a Dark Romance be written about that city. Mr. Mathers prepared me for Bullseye in my teenager years LOL.
The dialogue is snappy, sassy and fast and furious. This is a thorough Dark Romance, but there are certain moments in the novel in which I LAUGHED SO HARD. Bull and Lily’s miscommunication had me IN STITCHES. Before all hell broke loose, in the lighter moments (as light as it could’ve been, considering Bull’s plans), I found myself belting out Bad Romance by Lady Gaga while reading (I’M A FREE B.TCH, BABYYYY!!!!). There were plenty of song mentions in the novel and I just had myself a party while reading BECAUSE THIS STORY WAS JUST SO EXTRAORDINARILY GLORIOUS.
I’m usually a lead-girl focus type of reviewer, but here, I had to break my tradition because BULL WAS A FANTASTIC MALE LEAD. I cannot wait, I REPEAT, I CANNOT WAIT for the sequel. SEE YOU IN HELL FOR THE SEQUEL, FOLKS! Pour some sugar on that tea!
Let’s move on to Lily, now, shall we? She was connected to a number of plot twists that I did NOT see coming. Ferocious, wild and as determined to SURVIVE as Bull is determined to seek revenge. She and Bull were some sort of Yin and Yang and they fit each other perfectly. She’s had a rough life, yet she didn’t seem broken to me. She was a fighter through and through, managing her responsibilities like a badass. I can’t say much else about her because she’s dripping in spoilers, our lead girl. She’s not stupid, Lily. I think she was very well aware that Bull couldn’t be her SUPERMAN or anyone’s superman for that matter (is that a reference to a song by a certain man from THAT city, author? HEHE).
At the end of Bullseye, you’ll feel all the FEELS. I immediately signed up for the sequel promo etc because Bullseye promo was immense fun to be a part of. I am patiently waiting on the continuation of this story because I have the slightest assumption that it’s going to be explosive. I couldn’t read anything else after I finished this and I felt so HAPPY (when a book is this good, I feel happy, NO MATTER THE AMOUNT OF DRAMA OR CLIFFHANGER LOL) that this book was such an exceptional read.
*I apologize for the extensive length of this review. LOL*
UTTERLY FANTASTIC!!
This has been a twisted and magnificent mindfuckery that is utterly fantastic!!
Author Monica James riveting and compelling writing has skillfully created a tale of love amidst the most unfortunate of circumstances surrounded by pain, guilt, heartache, revenge, and violence, and created the oddest yet most intense, raw, intriguing, emotional, addictive and somewhat inspiring masterpiece, with unforgettable characters.
Bullseye will get you hooked right from the start. The storyline is flawless, unpredictable and fascinating. An unputdownable dark romance that will keep you on the edge-of-your-seat, until you’re hit with a cliffhanger of epic proportions.
Now prepared yourself to go through a wide spectrum of emotions as you follow Bullseye and Lily’s journey. As for me, I can’t wait for what comes next!!!
This book… THIS. BOOK.
Okay, so first off, Bullseye is my first Monica James book and I think it’s pretty rude that all y’all just let me go around living like my life was somehow complete without Monica James and her words in it? Like straight up RUDE.
Anyway…
Holy cow. I am obSESSED with Bullseye. This book has everything I love and ticks off ALL of my boxes. It’s dark and gritty, raw, emotional, totally no holds barred. It’s intense. Sexy as sin. It has twists and turns, some of which you can feel down in your soul will come to fruition, no matter how much you don’t want them to.
Bull is a man on a mission; after spending twelve years behind bars, he’s somewhere in limbo between the boy that was put there and the man on a path of vengeance. He may think he’s dead inside, a monster at best–but there are so many complicated layers to this man. A filthy bad boy. A protector. A hunter.
But Lily, you sweet woman. She hasn’t had it easy by any means, yet she puts one foot in front of the other and does everything she can to make a better life for herself and her loved ones. A fierce spitfire, she doesn’t back down from anyone, even from the tattooed man who screams danger.
Bull and Lily are both splintered by their pasts and have been chewed up and spit back out by life. They have no business being together, but yet they are so drawn to each other. Like magnets, they seek the other out and are in a constant push/pull orbit. Their attraction is addicting and I couldn’t get enough of it.
I connected so heavily with both Bull and Lily and I cheered them on, even when I wanted to strangle them in the same breath. Their demons run in the same darkness, but they both bloom in the warmth the other provides. Bullseye is such an immersive book and I was hooked within pages, needing to know everything, yet never wanting it to end. I simply couldn’t get enough of these it. I cannot wait to see how this one wraps up!
This is NOT a love story. This is a story of violence, rage, revenge, hate, and lust.
There are no words to describe my feelings after reading this book. I have officially felt my soul get ripped away from my body. The angst, the violence, the pain…..its all deep deep in me. I feel it all.
Bull is such a tortured soul, but is he justified in his choices? Is he good? Is he evil?
Tiger Lily is a victim of circumstance and family. Growing up the way she did, with family that she had. Living the double life she is living. Is she justified in HER choices? Is SHE good?
Fate is a cruel misguided bitch in this story. Bullseye has only two things on his mind, and they both battle for what’s important. Tiger Lily and revenge.
Bullseye and Lily’s twisted and undeniable connection shakes your world. A “relationship” of misguided hate and lust fill the pages of this book.
“This isn’t a story where the heroine changes the villain into a hero. I will never be that. Its too late for that. I’m dead inside. What I’ve done…what I have to do to silence the voices inside my head has determined my fate.”
Monica James’ dark romance is absolute perfection! This was a life changer for me. I have been broken. I have bled tears reading this. I have felt their pain, anger, lust, hatred, punishments, and even some…..love. You feel it all….everything. Monica James is pure, raw talent. She is destined for greatness in her writing.
This is a very dark romance. Absolutely NOT a HEA….This has a cliffhanger of EPIC proportions! This is a MUST READ!
Wow. What a tragic story of a broken man. How one night can rip your entire world apart. And then that broken man sets his eyes in revenging who wronged him.
Unexpectedly he meets a woman. A woman determined to better her life for herself and her son.
These two slowly form a fierce bond. Theirs push and pull. Their is angst.
“His darkness dances with mine. I can feel it. This darkness inside me has been festering since everyone I loved left me. Everyone has a cross to bear, but mine seems to become heavier and heavier with each step I take.”
Some heavy revenge happens so If blood is a trigger, proceed with caution.
“I knew he was dangerous, hell, he even told me he was. But I never really believed it…until now.”
Book two is out now and I’m about to get on that ASAP! I feel like it’ll be even darker than book one!
I want to start with I really enjoyed this book! I went into I blind and not really knowing anything about it! For me it was kind of a slow burn. Which isn’t a bad thing! I need to learn patience at times and not just go for instant gratification. The book had everything I look for in a great dark romance! Hot dangerous guy, suspense, action and steamy romance! Now I knew it was a duet but still……CLIFFHANGER!!!!! I need the next book now!!! Would I recommend this book…..heck yeah I would!!!
Arc given for an honest review
I was given this ARC by the author, in exchange for an honest review.
I found this story unique. Bull was a very dark character but he was also flawed and vulnerable. I loved the development of this character. I loved how accurate his psychological and emotional transition was described. He was sexy and scary but also lovable.
Though I was able to predict the big twist, it was still enjoyable once it came and there were definitely a few things I didn’t see coming.
Tiger Lily was a survivor.
Their relationship was dark and intense, just how I like them!
The cliffhanger left me wanting more and I look forward to Blowback!
