For twelve long years, I’ve breathed, I’ve bled for only one thing… men…they’re now three. The fourth—he is the reason they call me Bullseye. They can run, but sooner or later, I’ll find them, just as I did with their friend. They’re already dead…they just don’t know it yet.
My plan was simple until I met her. A fierce tiger who had the power to break my heart. Lucky for me…she can’t break what’s already broken. I am no longer a man because the world is a jungle, and we’re all just animals—ready to tear one another apart.

WOW!!! This book took me for a ride that I did not want to get off because the storyline was intense, emotional, and kept me guessing what would happen next. This steamy book follows Bull who has recently been released from prison after spending 12 years in. He wants to get revenge on those who killed his brother but adjusted to life out of a cell is challenging enough let alone trying to navigate feelings he starts to develop for single mom, Lily. Lily has a history of being abandoned and though she works hard she still struggles to provide a good life for her son who is starting to resent her. Fighting feelings and darkness within themselves Bull and Lily go through tough roads but are too curious about what is happening to really care. The twists and turns throughout the book and the cliffhanger we are left with keep us on our toes wanting more and curious how this will all play out. This author is amazing at writing us characters we become obsessed with and want more from. Absolutely great book!!!
Gahhhh I loved Bullseye!!!!
I am DYING to get my hands on book 2!!!!

Marvelous. Wild. Intense. Unputtable down.
I received this arc in exchange for an honest review.
What an insane and wild read! I want to thank Monica for finishing this first part without a cliffhanger. However, it does not take away my urge of knowing how this story will end. I can’t wait to read it!
Cody, had only one thing in mind. Revenge. At fifteen he lost, heartbreakingly, the most important person in his life. Uff, be prepared to read one of the most heartbreaking parts in his life. After fourteen years, his thirst for revenge has not been quenched. It just started and will not stop. Cody it’s in the past, now he is Bullseye and will make everyone who hurt him pay for it. Bull is ruthless, determined, rude, tough, maybe a monster. In its path he meets Lily. She teaches ballet during the day, but at night she becomes an exotic dancer for a living. Lily is the perfect combination for Bull. She is strong, bold, stunning. Both together are an explosive, dangerous and hot combination. Together they will create a spider web difficult to escape. This is the kind of story that makes you ask how there can be a happily ever after. Will there be one?
This story sucked me from the beginning. I connected with the characters and was dragged inside of it in a way that I couldn’t stop reading. It is a very well written with strong characters and a great plot, with unexpected turns that will leave you with your mouth open.
Warning: This book contains graphic violence.
Highly recommended!
OMFG! Guys Monica James has done it again! I absolutely floved Bull and Lily! Monica James ahs quicken become one of my favorite others. She continues to blow me away with each book.
Bull and Lily are amazing! The push, pull of their relationship had me on the edge of my chair. The sexual tension between the two jumped off each page. Bull is tall, dark, and dangerous. I could not get enough of him. He is the kind of messed up that speaks to my soul. Lily is a single mother trying to survive.
The twist and turns in this book are amazing. James had me hooked from start to finish and still does after it’s ended. I may have saw the big twist coming but it did not for one second take anything away from the book.
I cannot wait to see where Monica James takes us with book two! I need book two now!
WHAT DID I JUST READ?!? I swear, after every book from Monica I continue to fall more in love with her style of writing and her unique storylines that keep me on the edge of my seat! After spending over a decade in jail, Bull is a free man, but he is only looking to exact revenge on the rest of the crew that killed his brother years ago. Little does he know, revenge falls right into his lap without him even knowing it. Getting a job at a local club, he meets Lily, who’s life is complicated but she is just trying to get out from under the stigma and statistics she’s tied to. Finally giving a chance on a relationship and everything else that goes along with it, she gives into her initial chemistry and feelings with Bull, as does he, even though revenge is at the forefront of his mind. But in true Monica fashion, the relationship and these characters happen for a reason, and the reasoning behind everything might just blow your mind, like it did mine. I was completely enthralled with this book once everything was revealed in the end, but it also made me more excited for the next book to see how things actually end up!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Author sucked me compeletely in Bull snd Tiger’s story. This is this kind of books that You won’t put down. From paige to paige every event just made You feel greedy for more and more. With every new twist You try to be ready, BUT TRY is not a “joke-word” here, because You can’t prepare Yourself for this, what is coming. I haven’t read this book – I devorued it with the biggest pleasure (and… I let Bull to consume my heart, wont lie) !!!!!!
I’m not big fan of duets, but Bullseye was one of the best ‘firsts’ books I’ve ever read ! I will wait impatiently for more!
Grabby Hands People – You need this book in life.
Stunningly told and held my attention from start to finish!!

I need book 2!
Title: Bullseye
Author: Monica James
Genre: Contemporary romance
My rating: 5 Stars
Holy sh*%! What did I just read? Monica James you really are a PHENOMENAL writer. Not only did the the book blow me away, but it lived up to hype leading up to the release. Guy’s, you can’t go wrong with this one. Bullseye is a dark, sexy, mysterious tall drink of (complicated) water. He’s lit in every way possible. Paired with the stunning Tiger; James has created a Lit-U-ation between the two bound to set aflame everything they touch. My god they’re chemistry was everything. Loved the plot. Loved the banter. Loved that Bullseye, though, enigmatic had a softer side to him. A side only Tiger seemed to bring out. So excited for book 2 can’t wait to see what James’ crazy-good mind has cooked up next.
*I received this amazing ARC in exchange for an honest review*
Superb male character and although I can’t blame the female character for acting out like that… it still doesn’t feel natural.
Get rid of your squeamishness because this book is darker than midnight! I thought this story would be about the redemption of a man who did time for murder but no, it’s about a man who came out of jail ready to finish his revenge once and for all. There will be violence and killings and fighting. A gruesome murder of a young man, terminating his life and truncating a promising future. And the start of another young man’s revenge plot.
Cody Bishop was a spunky fifteen y/o who worshiped his older brother Damian. Damian was a good kid, good student with good grades and the quarterback of their high school. Cody wanted to follow in his steps but he was a rebel and frequently got into trouble. He sneaked out of the house to an after game bonfire, where he wanted to meet a girl. He got into trouble, was beaten but rescued from Damian. Later on, they were ambushed by the ruffians, they killed Damian and in that moment, Cody’s life changed irrevocably.
Drowned in despair and guilt, he got involved in mischief and bad deeds. Eventually, he started looking for his brother’s murderers, found one, killed him in cold blood and ended up in jail for fourteen years.
This story starts on the day he’s released from prison. You’d expect him to be rehabilitated, but he was as determined to finish his revenge as when he entered. He finds work in a strip club, perfect for his investigations, starts to plot and plan his revenge plan. He sees himself as a heartless monster, who finds pleasure in giving pain. When he meets Tiger Lily, one of the stripper girls, he senses danger, because she could make him feel. There’s a darkness inside him that makes him want to hurt her and possess her, and he’s as afraid of that darkness as of starting to feel.
Tiger Lily, or Lillian Hope, is a dancer. Her aspirations were to be a professional dancer, but a pregnancy at sixteen derailed her plans. The father of her child disappeared, then her brother, the only family she had, also disappeared and she had to work two jobs to sustain her child. As soon as she met Bullseye, she felt a strong attraction. Faced with Bull’s reticence and silence, she feels rejected and gets mad and this is where the cute part of the story happens. Bull didn’t have normal teenager years, so he doesn’t have conversation or flirting skills. He doesn’t understand what’s happening, doesn’t know how to react so just stays silent like a dumb@ss. When Lily gets mad at him, he’s confused and uncertain so he leaves and makes her even madder.
The darkness in this story is relentless because Bull gets deeper and deeper into the underground world, looking for his targets. He keeps away from Lily but runs to protect her when she needs help. Lily also has bigger problems and it feels like they are running in opposite directions, while their hearts want to meet up. They have a back and forth relation, and I felt that he was starting to feel for her but wanted to keep her away to protect her from him. In his interactions with others, when he received kindness, he felt something in his chest and didn’t know what it was. In some ways, it was tragic because his life was just as truncated as Damian was. He acted like he had no mercy, and yet, he had kind words for the owner of the strip club and for Lily, and he helped when he could. I had total hopes he could be redeemed.
The darkness in the book continues to a crescendo until it ends in a quiet cliffhanger. Plans are in motion for the rest of Bull’s plans which will happen in the next book. My general feeling on the book was depression. All the characters live such dismal lives! There were some cute moments, like when Bull reacted confused to social cues that he missed completely and looked confused. I liked the moments of kindness, hurt so hard for Lily and all the burdens she had to carry. There are moments where you wince, cringe, gasp, and one in particular was very distressing. I had hopes for Bull’s redemption until one moment, then lost hope, then regained that hope, and now am in a limbo where I just don’t know what will happen in the next book. I want Bull to find his feelings, to wake up his heart and to start living a constructive life. There are voices in his head that promote forgiveness but he’s mostly deaf to their entreaty, stubbornly determined. He feels like his life is worthless, he is worthless, and his only redemption is revenge. So sad! And so intriguing!
Monica always knows how to write a strong alpha male and that’s exactly what Bull is.
He has no remorse and is on a mission, the only problem is Tigerlily. As soon as he sees her, he knows there’s going to be trouble but he has to stay focus with the task on hand.
This story is mixed with devastation, darkness and the chemistry between lily and Bull is !
Looking forward to the conclusion.
Monica Takes us on this extreme ride, and i enjoyed every single word. Bull is trying to settle back into the world and trying to take vengeance of those who made his life hell, no matter the cost. What he endured, omg I’m not going to say a lot, but it was painful. I needed to take a breath after that chapter. He’s so dead inside but his actions speak more of his real self, a broken soul that have our hearts. .
Lily and Bull’s life interconnect, forcing them to prioritize their choices. Her love and passion for dancing is marvelous, she is fierce and definitely know what she wants. Nothing has been easy for her and she’s dedicated to the responsibilities in her hands.
After that cliffhanger I can’t wait to read how everything will unfold
Overall Rating – .5
What a dark and exciting read this was, more action than romance, but I did enjoy it.
Bullseye has been in jail for the past 12 years for murder and now that’s he’s out, he only has one thing on his mind, to seek vengeance on the men who killed his brother.
He was only 18 when he went to jail and a lot has changed in that time. Adjusting to his new life is somewhat awkward for him. When he gets offered a job as a bouncer at a strip club and comes across Tigerlily, he knows she is someone who can get in the way of his plans and vows to stay away from her.
Tigerlily or Lily, stirs all his emotions, he wants her, but he must keep her away from his overall plan. Although, fate keeps pushing them together and there is a lot of push and pull between them. I liked Lily, she’s a worker and is trying to do what’s best for her family.
The story starts a little slow and at one point I didn’t think Bullseye and Lily were ever going to get together, but once it got going, it really pulled me in. I loved Bullseye’s attraction to Lily and that protective eye he always casts over her. And that ending when everything came into play! Wow, already excited for the conclusion!
ARC received for an honest review – thank you

BULLSEYE is the first instalment in Monica James’ contemporary, adult THE MONSTERS WITHIN dark, erotic, story line focusing on former inmate, thirty year old Cody ‘Bullseye’ Bishop, and twenty-eight year old, exotic dancer Lily ‘Tigerlily’ Hope. At this stage of the duet I am reluctant to call the story a romance.
WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Bullseye and Tigerlily) BULLSEYE follows Cody ‘Bullseye’ Bishop as he sets into motion a plan to avenge the murder of his older brother Damian. Approximately fifteen years earlier, at the age of fifteen, Cody Bishop witnessed the murder of his brother by four wanna-be gang bangers, and our anti-hero pledged to kill everyone involved. Fast forward three years and Cody took down one of the men, but in doing so wound up on the wrong side of the law. Twelve years in prison gave Cody, now known as Bullseye, the time to perfect his style of fighting, and organize a plan to avenge the brother he lost. Taking a job as a bouncer at a local bar called The Pink Oyster found Bullseye face to face with exotic dancer Lily ‘Tigerlily’ Hope, a woman who stirred something deep within Bullseye Bishop. What ensues is Bishop’s search for the men who killed his brother as his friendship with Lily comes at a terrible cost.
Cody ‘Bullseye’ Bishop is no longer the naïve and innocent man he was fifteen years earlier. Believing himself to be unworthy of love, Bullseye struggles with basic social skills, preferring to do everything on his own but a few well placed questions opens up the possibility of taking down the men who destroyed his life. Lily Hope is a single mother with a defiant eleven year old son; a ballet teacher who dances nights at the local bar but all is not well at The Pink Oyster, and Lily finds herself in a fight for her life. Hoping that Bullseye feels the same about her, Lily opens up only to discover that darkness that surrounds Bullseye is more dangerous and deeper than she could have imagined.
The relationship between Lily and Bullseye is acrimonious at best. Bullseye struggles with personal relationships including continuously cutting down a woman who is willing to look beyond the darkness. Bullseye is the epitome of bad boy but Lily sees something that no one else sees, a vulnerability that could destroy her life. The $ex scenes are aggressive, raw and intense.
We are introduced to Bullseye’s parole officer Franca Brown; Lotus, the owner of The Pink Oyster; exotic dancer Tawny; and several local gang-bangers and the man who rules the streets of Detroit- Andre the bouncer, Hero, Scrooge, Kong, and Jaws.
BULLSEYE is a story of murder and revenge; betrayal and vengeance; heart break, pain. The premise is dark and gritty; the characters are broken, tragic and ill-fated; the romance is virtually non-existent as Bullseye battles between head and heart.
Omgoodness. Monica James has floored me with her darkness and amazingness. I feel like she can write such a variety of genres and troupes, and always leaves you begging for more. This was an unbelievable start to bullseye and I can’t wait for the next book!!
Bullseye – holy hotness and total steam. He was a very unexpected and a creative character that made me have to fan myself. Lily is oh so interesting and strong. She has lives a rough life, but gets some help in seeing she can be strong no matter what. Let’s just add in the twists and turns Monica creates and you have a freaking masterpiece you will love!!
Bullseye (The Monsters Within Duet #1) by Monica James
5 STARS
BULLSEYE is the first full-length book in the Monsters Within Duet by author Monica James, and it’s written in dual POV.
This was my first read from author Monica James, I didn’t know what to expect, but it definitely won’t be my last read from her.
This book was raw, gritty, dark, emotional and sooo HOT. It was DARK, just the way I liked it, my taste of dark.
Bulls was incarcerated for twelve hurtfull years for murder. His life was ripped away from him. For twelve years he planned his revenge. He is driven by revenge, he is dark, dangerous, he is full of demons. Now, that the day of his release has come, Bullseye is out and he wants just one thing. Revenge.
Unexpectedly a job at a strip club, The Pink Oyster lands in his hands and it is better than he would’ve thought. His plan begins. He has to take out the men who hurt him. Find the men, and make them pay.
Only ”She” comes along. Love comes in the way. He doesn’t understand the feelings that she awakes in him, never felt them before. He’s not a boy anymore. He’s haunted by demons, blood, and pain. The only thing that drives him is vengeance and death.
Lily has her own past. She’s a single mom struggling to make ends for her and her son, and Bullseye is everything that she doesn’t need. But the attraction between them is too powerful. Their relationship is madness.
The writing was beautiful, flawless and captivating. I couldn’t read fast enough and couldn’t put the book down. Twists and turns at every step, suspenseful, secrets, I was completely hooked.
If you love dark romance and anti-hero, this book is the perfect one for you, but trust me that it isn’t for everybody.
This is my first Monica James book and what the what! So madddd at my books sisters for letting me miss out this long. Friends don’t let friends live without Monica James book!
Bull is a sexy villain you will love to hate and hate to love. Dark and twisted, hell bent on revenge while emergong from a sorted past.
Lily while having an angelic beauty is broken and dark, and Bull is drawn to her.
This book is gritty, twisted, facepaced and will leave your head spinning.
I absoloutly cannot wait for book 2 and to discover all things Monica James!
Monica has a way with her writing within the dark romance world that creates a hero with a darkness you can’t help but be drawn too. She writes good men who are broken and do bad things, and boy does she make them irresistible while they do it! I love her male POV, it’s earthy and raw and animalistic, I love how they can be so consumed with their focus but when that one woman breaks through that fog you, can literally see the fight they put up to not drop to their knees for her! Bullseye is a brilliant read, that keeps you wanting to turn page after page, with two amazing characters front and centre and a plot that holds mystery and intrigue in a twisted tale of vengeance.
Bull and Lily are like lost planets fighting gravity to go their own paths; but they cannot help being pulled right back into each other and the moment they collide their worlds go up in flames! The damage that is left behind is the beginning of a war that was destined to happen in so many ways and I cannot wait to see how this is going to play out.
THIS WAS EPIC!!!!
I cannot describe how much in love I am with this series, Monica James just wrote her best book yet!! Bullseye from the moment I saw the cover I knew it was going to be amazing, but this was so much more. Bullseye will hook you in from the very first sentence, it will leave you on the edge of your seat wanting more.
Bull was everything, I loved him so much. He is out after being locked up for a long time. He is out and out for revenge. I loved Bull so much, he was someone who doesn’t believe he is capable of love or being loved. When he is out, the only thing in his mind is to get revenge on those people who ruined his life. He was never expecting to meet someone who would turn his world upside down. Lily was everything, I loved how strong and determined she was, the way she goes about doing things is epic. The chemistry of these two was OFF THE CHARTS. I was seriously going crazy wanting the story to go on forever.
Bullseye is everything, I cannot wait for book 2 because this was left in a cliffhanger that had me screaming wanting more. Another amazing and epic book by Monica James.
Five well-deserved stars
I don’t know if I should love or be afraid of Monica. Her heroes… Every next hero is more fucked up than the previous one. Heartless, intense and unpredictable.
Bull is a beast. The tragedy he experienced as a young boy turned him into a revengeful man.
He’s got a plan, and he won’t stop until he’s done it. He’s got nothing to lose. Nothing can get in his way. Until Lily. She is a distraction. The light in the dark. One good thing in his life.
If you like dark and twisted romance books you have to read The Bullseye. Monica created an amazing story with characters that will keep you turning the pages. Her writing style is so incredible good that you will live this story, you will feel intense emotions and when you finish reading you will want more.
Thank You Monica for another amazing journey.
