Welcome to Bad@ss Builds where the motorcycles are as sexy as the brothers building them.Austin Burns:I thought she wasn’t real the first time I saw her. To be fair I was a hungover mess when I woke up and looked into her gorgeous eyes. After getting the second worst news of my life—that my father would be paroled soon—I’d escaped to my buddy’s posh cabin near Lake Tahoe. Now the maid with the … posh cabin near Lake Tahoe. Now the maid with the gorgeous eyes is snowed in with me, and I wonder if she might be a better distraction than the mountain of booze I’d planned on drinking. She’s curvy in all the right places, and the snow is falling faster.
Rachel Tannenbaum:
As a single mom, I don’t have time for men, especially irresponsible tattooed bad boys like my ex. But Austin is hot. And sexy. And stuck here in the cabin with me. I can’t say no to a fling with this bad boy, especially since Austin is so gorgeous and awkwardly sweet.
One night becomes two, and I don’t know if I can risk my heart—and my little boy’s—if Austin wants it to become more when we get through the snow and back to reality.

“I had a toddler and a mountain of bills to take care of. I didn’t have time for bad boys with their hard bodies, sexy tattoos, and sultry looks.”
This was my first time to read a Gillian Archer book and I really enjoyed it. I was especially intrigued to learn she has an MC romance series and I’ll most definitely be checking out her backlist. I confess it was the cover that caught my attention at first, and then who could read the synopsis and resist “Welcome to Bad@ss Builds where the motorcycles are as sexy as the brothers building them.”? Not me, that’s for sure!
Austin is the oldest badass brother. When his life was blown apart by the actions of his father he had to step up and help take care of his brothers. He’s got anger issues and attitude to spare and he doesn’t deny being an asshole. I doubt he tries to hard to curb it though since that’s exactly what seems to attract his fans. His dysfunctional family is very popular and good for business, it seems their recent shenanigans have gained them some attention and increased their sales.
When Rachel shows up at the Lake Tahoe cabin to clean she finds a gorgeous guy gazing at her with a dazed look on his face. He’s obviously drunk and has no clue why she’s there. “I was here to clean his freaking ski cabin. I was the help. I couldn’t let myself get lost in any fantasies of turning bad boys good or at the very least tracing the web of tattoos covering his chest and arms. Bad, Rachel.” Well, I guess that makes me a bad Rosa, cuz I was having those same fantasies…sigh. I’m surprised there was a need for a snowplow to rescue them when the heat between them could have melted the snow.
After getting the backstory and learning what had Austin so upset he ran off to drown himself in booze to forget about it I was totally invested. This being only the first book in the series I know there will be lots more information forthcoming regarding that issue and I’m very curious to see how that pans out. I’m also interested in seeing if some strong women have better luck taming those three younger brothers. They are all strong-minded and hardheaded and even though I was only present virtually I still felt the need to hide in a corner when they were fighting.
And then there’s Rachel’s little boy. Imagine having little-man and big-man in the same room. Yup, it will have your ovaries exploding. I’m looking forward to more Burns Brothers and Bad@ss Builds. The line forms here…
Build is book 1 in the Burns Brothers Series and I am excited to get to read more about these brothers in future stories. This was a fun fast read for me and I enjoyed the characters and the story. It was one that kept me interested from start to finish but did leave me with some questions. I am guessing that since this is only the first book, those questions will be answered in future stories.
Rachel and Austin have some serious chemistry in this book and I loved how Austin works to try to get Rachel to take a moment to think about herself for once. She is so busy taking care of everyone else that she often doesn’t take a break to unwind and refresh. In turn, Rachel tries to show Austin that he doesn’t always have to protect everyone from everything and that things that happened when he was a child were not his fault.
I was hooked while reading and had to know what was going to happen next. There were so many emotions I felt throughout this story. You will not be disappointed! – By Alisa
Rachel is a struggling single mom. Working two jobs to make ends meet. When one of her jobs has her snowed in at a famous rock star’s cabin in Tahoe she is sad about leaving her son with her mom. She thinks she relies too much on her mom. But the worst part about being snowed in is that she is stuck with Austin. Jerk of epic proportions. Austin is reeling from bad news about his father being released from prison so he runs away to his buddy’s cabin to escape for a few days. But he ends us getting snowed in with Rachel. We all know what happens next when they are forced to spend time together.
I did not like Austin at all. He was a major jerk and I never understood how Rachel could fall for him. It always seemed so odd to me when they would fall into bed together. It didn’t feel organic to me. He redeemed himself once they were no longer snowed in but I wouldn’t have given him a chance at all with his behavior in the cabin. Rachel irked me but I can’t pinpoint why so maybe it was just my mood while reading? Not sure. But I am intrigued by the brothers so I will continue this series.
Awesome book. Awesome writer
Nice Story
Throw in family dysfunction, a few bikes, a alpha male, and a single mom you have a great story. Rachel is trying to get to her cleaning job in Lake Tahoe in a bit of snow but she knows she has to get it done. Her partner bailed on her. Austin when to his friends house after finding out his dad was being paroled. They got stuck together. But something helps them both heal.
Loved all the antics between Rachel & Austin romance. Burns brothers are family of adventures. Love wins. Can’t wait to read the series.
Good
This is my first Gillian Archer book, but it won’t be my last. Austin and Rachel were so utterly human, complete with faults and strengths and the struggles of life, that I was hooked by the time I met Rachel in this pages. They both make some mistakes, they’re both stubborn as can be, and yet they work perfectly. And I truly appreciated how Austin saw the light and didn’t give up, even when it looked like there was no hope left. I’m looking forward to the rest of his family and their stories.
I absolutely fell hard for Austin he has his faults but he tries to always be there for his family, help any way they can, and is a very hot alpha. Rachel was a hard working single mother that had a disabled mother just trying to make a better life for them so when a freak snow storm arrives and she’s stuck with Austin for a few days they both learn more about each other and also help each other learn to relax or to stop running from problems. Together they build a bond but can Austin step up learn to stop running or will he let his own demons cause a rift between them? Great read and loved the brothers and even loved Rachel, but towards the end I feel she held too much of a grudge towards Auston without explanation and was being too stubborn for me. Great read and will be reading more!!
A long journey to a HEA.
Very good premise, enjoyable story, and characters I liked for the most part. Austin & Rachel’s initial meeting is both LOL funny & sad, due to the reason he’s inebriated. And I like their interactions, except the swiftness that Austin falls back on a-hole mode is a bit concerning. He continues that pattern a little too long for my full enjoyment. There’s also a SOB (seemingly obligatory breakup) that just didn’t fully work for me. I didn’t feel like they got enough happy page time, I think.
Overall, however, I enjoyed the story & loved getting to know these characters (which is why I wanted more happy page time! LOL) & I liked the author’s writing style. I have another by her on my kindle, from a different series, so I’m going to read that one before deciding to continue w/ this series. The other blurbs certainly have my interest piqued!
: )
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
Austin Burns is one of the brothers who build motorcycles and they own Bada$$ Builds. With a reality show behind them and possibly more on the horizon, there is always someone looking to get one of their bikes. When Austin gets some bad news, he needs time to process it and drink until he can’t think. He goes to a friend’s Tahoe cabin for the night.
Rachel Tannenbaum is a single Mom working two jobs and living with her mother who is in a wheelchair. They live in a rundown apartment and barely getting by. When Rachel is sent to clean a cabin in Tahoe, she just wants to get done and head home before the snowstorm moves in. When she walks into the beautiful cabin she finds a very drunk and shirtless Austin Burns.
When the snowstorm hits, both Rachel and Austin are stuck in the cabin for two days. What are they to do with each other? Maybe they should test the electrical current running between them because it is just about to melt the snow.
This story is filled with pain, heartache, and love. The pain and heartache are more from Austin and his brother’s past and it will break your heart to read it. And the Prologue at the end is for the next book with Ryan and it is going to be so good. This author has a way of telling a story with a broken hero and the woman who helps him heal. So check her out if you haven’t read her yet.

This was different and I liked it, we have Austin who ran away to a cabin to get away from the knowledge of his dad getting out of prison, so his plans are to drink the thought away.
Rachel is a single mom who is the cleaning lady for the cabin and they get snowed in together.
She puts her son first but the sparks that these two have can not be stopped but can they both look past what they have been through to see what could be? Can Austin grow up?
This book is an awesome start to this new series and I can’t wait for the next one
I enjoyed it and can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
Loved it! Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
While cleaning a cabin Rachael finds herself snowbound with the very hot Austin Burns. The chemistry between them was extremely hot and melting my kindle. The question is what happens in real life once the world comes back in? I loved this story and the way the author weaves it around you, you feel that you are more than an observer in this story. I highly recommend it and look forward to Ryan’s story.
This was my first Gillian Archer’s book. This is the first book in the Burns Brothers Series, a great introduction to this Series. The custom motorcycles shop setting is a brillant idea. The story is original and well written. Austin and Rachel are great characters. They share a strong chemistry. Rachel’s son, Wyatt, is cute! I like the family spirit and the brotherhood in this story. The Epilogue is great. I enjoyed reading this story, and I would love to read more about the other brothers, Nathan, Ryan and Dylan.
I have always been a Gillian Archer fan but this new series makes me even more of a fan! This is a new series for Gillian, where each book will focus on each brother who work together in building custom motorcycles. The first story in this series is the oldest brother, Austin. After taking on the caretaker role after his father murdered his mother, Austin has been the rock of the family and worked to provide at a young age. But because he dealt with loss so young, he has a harsh reaction to anything that doesn’t go his way, which is exactly what happens when he finds out his father is granted parole. Holing up to drink his feelings away, he ends up snowed in with Rachel, a house cleaner who also got snowed in on her last job. Rachel has had a string of bad luck throughout her life, and being snowed in and unable to get to her son is the cherry on top. Being in close quarters and attracted to each other, things escalate quickly for the pair, but once the snow is melted, they decide to continue their budding relationship. When poor communication and a misunderstanding cause the end of their relationship, Austin is devastated, and when an accident happens, he takes the chance to make everything right again. While this story was it’s own for Austin and Rachel, it also served as the starter and introduction to this series, and Gillian did a great job of making sure it included both sides! Can’t wait for the next one!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Austin has always been the protector for his brothers. It started when he was young and has carried into adulthood. Finding their father is going to be released from prison sets him on the run to drown his sorrows. Rachel works for the company who cleans the luxury cabin Austin has escaped to. When a blizzard blows through Rachel is stranded in Tahoe. As a single Mom Rachel isn’t looking for a relationship but will one snowy weekend change her mind?
This was a new author to me but I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. The Burns Brothers might be loud and argumentative but love that they are really a close knit family. Rachel and Austin both had some pretty traumatic events in their childhoods that cause them not to trust easily. The author did a great job of creating characters that I could fall in love with. Love a story with a close knit family and it doesn’t hurt that these HOT Burns men happen to build motorcycles!
This story was so deep emotion wise. Austin Burns and his brothers have already been through so much. They all deal with the tragedy differently.
Austin and Rachel are great characters who find love but it isn’t all roses for them. They have to learn to communicate better and not let their past get in the way of their future.
