Welcome to Bad@ss Builds where the motorcycles are as sexy as the brothers building them.Austin Burns:I thought she wasn’t real the first time I saw her. To be fair I was a hungover mess when I woke up and looked into her gorgeous eyes. After getting the second worst news of my life—that my father would be paroled soon—I’d escaped to my buddy’s posh cabin near Lake Tahoe. Now the maid with the … posh cabin near Lake Tahoe. Now the maid with the gorgeous eyes is snowed in with me, and I wonder if she might be a better distraction than the mountain of booze I’d planned on drinking. She’s curvy in all the right places, and the snow is falling faster.
Rachel Tannenbaum:
As a single mom, I don’t have time for men, especially irresponsible tattooed bad boys like my ex. But Austin is hot. And sexy. And stuck here in the cabin with me. I can’t say no to a fling with this bad boy, especially since Austin is so gorgeous and awkwardly sweet.
One night becomes two, and I don’t know if I can risk my heart—and my little boy’s—if Austin wants it to become more when we get through the snow and back to reality.

I am a sucker for a blizzard romance. Reading this kind of story is one of my earliest reader memories! I am sure it was more a YA thriller than a romance, but that element was also there.
This story was really quite dense despite how fast it read. We have a man with a very difficult past and family life tossed together with a single mother trying to make ends meet plus a lot of snow and a ton of chemistry. There’s really no way Austin and Rachel stood a chance!
Blizzard romances are great because you get to explore the tension between the characters while they are safely insulated in their little bubble of a world – and then see what happens when they have to go back to real life and figure things out all over again!
A great, sexy read! I will definitely be continuing on with the Burns Brothers!
This is book one in the Burns Brothers series and it features Austin and Rachel. The relationship between these two was often tension filled. They didn’t really know each other and he was often mad or she was upset or others were mad and that would upset them. The Burns Brothers have got some heated tempers. I thought he had a very good reason for his big blowout with Dylan. In my opinion, she tends to overreact but I guess that might be the overprotective mother in her. The Burns Brothers will have a lot to deal with in a couple months and I don’t envy being Dylan or Ryan in that situation.
Fantastic story line and great characters. For me the brothers’ part of the story line was more intriguing than the romance. I’m definitely looking forward to book 2.
What a great start to a series. The book is very well written and the author has given us strong independent leading male and female roles. The storyline will keep you glued to the pages to see what is going to happen next to these to who carry the weight of their worlds on their shoulders.
Austin is the oldest of the 4 Burns brothers. He has taken care of his brothers with the help of his Aunt since he was a young boy and his father went to prison. When he gets the news that his father is being paroled, Austin flips out. He flees to his buddy’s cabin near Lake Tahoe to drink away his cares and come to terms with the news. Little does he know a snowstorm is coming.
Rachel is a strong young woman who works 3 jobs to take care of her young son and her wheelchair bound mother. Her son and mom are her priority even to the point she basically has no life outside of work and taking care of them. When Rachel is sent to clean a cabin in Tahoe she runs into a drunken Austin and thanks to the snow storm, she gets stuck in Tahoe. From here the story takes off. As they get to know each other and give into their attraction to one another, I mean what else is there to do when you’re snowed in, we find that Austin is a protector and wants to break down Rachel’s walls and get to really know her. Rachel thinks Austin to be in the here and now and not always run when things get tough.
What happens when the road clear and these two are free to go home? What happens when real world problems happen in their lives? This is a great read that I highly recommend and this reader can’t wait for the 2nd’s Burns brother brother to hit the shelves.
Build by Gillian Archer is the First book in the Burns Brothers Series. This is the story of Rachel Tannenbaum and Austin Burns.
Austin is a a cabin looking to lick his wounds before facing a new family issue. Rachel is working at that cabin when they both get stuck there. Rachel has her own past that she doesn’t want to relive and she has a child that she needs to be focused on. But these two come together for a brief time but they are finding out that it may not be so brief…feelings are starting to take over for them.
Enjoyed their story.
Excellent start to what should be a fun new series. Both the main and secondary characters are fun and interesting and I can’t wait for more of these over the top brothers. Loved the banter between the characters and the chemistry between Austin and Rachel was sizzling. Both of the characters had moments where you wanted to smack them but overall I wanted to see them find their way. I would definitely recommend this very enjoyable book.
I definitely recommend this book for the great characters amazing story and page turning romance.
Dealing with family is sometimes difficult, working with his brothers is driving him crazy. Austin Burns is the oldest of four and in charge at Bad@ss Builds, where they custom build motorcycles for those who can afford it. After having some work issues with his brothers, Nathan only 18 months younger than Austin and always pushing or arguing, Ryan, the third son was spoiled and kind of lazy. Austin has had enough and told him to grow up, show up to work and be an adult or find another job, they couldn’t keep covering for him and expecting any changes. Dylan the youngest messed up a paint job for a tough customer, T-Bone the President of California’s West Coast Kings MC. On top of the work drama with his family he received the news that their father was getting paroled. Paroled after killing their mother, Austin couldn’t believe it, it had about been 20 years. Austin needed to get away for a bit before he told his brothers the news of their dad, he heads to Lake Tahoe to his buddy’s cabin.
Rachel Tannenbaum is running three hours behind due to her co-worker calling in sick and she has this huge cabin at to clean in Lake Tahoe before she can go home, and the weather looks like it’s going to snow and snow a lot. Rachel is nervous about snowy road conditions ever since her mom was paralyzed from the waist down due to a care accident four years ago while she was driving during a snow storm. Rachel being a single Mom must work a couple of jobs to help support her son Wyatt and mom Trish. When Rachel goes into the cabin, she sees Austin Burns sitting on a recliner drunk and surrounded by beer and alcohol bottles, she recognized him from the special that was on TV on the Urban Chanel about Bad@ss Builds. She tells him she’s there to clean up and will out of there as quickly as possible. Cleaning a chalet type cabin took her some time and by the time she was finished and heading downstairs, it had snowed about three feet and the roads were closed. Guess she was going to snowed in with Austin Burns.
Attracted to each other but not sure how to process being snowed in together, it’s a wild couple of days at the cabin. After being stuck Austin’s brother’s show up and dig them out. One twist after another and Austin is trying to track Rachel down after she left the cabin, he want’s more from her will she give it to him?
More problems arise with his family and Austin runs again to the cabin forgetting he had plans with Rachel and Wyatt. Being let down by men for most of her life Rachel will not allow that to happen to her son, so she ends things with Austin.
With more twists can Austin win back Rachels trust, will they find their HEA? Grab a copy of this book to find out.
Can’t wait for the next book in the series to see what Ryan is up to in, Fast: A Pregnant by the Bad Boy Romance (Burns Brothers Book #2).
A great start to a new series. I liked that Austin and Rachel weren’t perfect. They were real flawed people that found their way to each other.
Can’t wait to see what the future holds for the Burns Brothers.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC received via NetGalley.
I cant begin to explain how much I liked this book. This book centers around two individuals who have so much baggage between them but they are doing everything in their power to rise above it and protect those that they love.
Austin is the oldest of 4 brothers and have been the protector his whole life. There has been sacrifices made that has set him on a path. Things were done to his family when he was younger and he will never be able to get over it. We the reader find out very quickly about his inability to cope with things being thrown is way. He tend to go within himself and drink.
Rachel is a single mom who is just trying to make ends meet and be the sole provider for both her son and mom. Even though life is tough for her, she is a pretty upbeat person who desperately loves her son and want to do nothing but protect him.
These two get snowed in one weekend and lose themselves in each other being they can shut the world out. When they dig out, that’s when they find out if they can remain together and move ahead. A couple false starts and both of them giving a little made this a really enjoyable read.
An engaging story of stuck together people who fall into insta-lust and must later build on that relationship to grow into love. Austin and Rachel are a couple you can relate to. They have their ups and downs and battle through adversity. I really liked that not everything came easy to either one of them. I love family stories and the Burns brothers are stories I want to continue devouring. Oh, and the sexy times are not bad either.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
**I received a copy of Build from XpressoBook Tours and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. The opinions expressed below are mine alone and not solicited in any way.**
Build by Gillian Archer is the first book in her Burns Brothers series about a four brothers (Austin, Ryan, Nathan and Dylan) who own a custom build motorcycle business. This is Austin and Rachel’s story. I have read all of the author’s True Brothers MC series and loved them. However, this one was a bit different and is a solid 4.0 stars. I’m curious to see which brother gets their story next.
Rachel Tannenbaum works two sometimes three jobs to keep a roof over her families heads. With a preschool age boy, her deadbeat ex who doesn’t help financially and her mother not being able to work due to a car accident she works a lot to keep the bills paid. When her newest house cleaning job takes her to Lake Tahoe during a snow storm she doesn’t expect to get snowed in with Austin Burns who while he’s on a reality cable series is trying to have a weekend off to deal with the parole of his father. But will both of Austin and Rachel decide to live a bit and see if there weekend of fun become permanent?
Austin Burns works with his brothers who can be testy and trying frequently but when Ryan tries his patience with lateness plus a botched paint job for the West Coast Kings becomes the last straw. When he finds out that his dad is going to be released on parole, he escapes to Tahoe and his friends cabin. But his weekend of a drinking and movie with Blue his dog soon will include Rachel who worries about missing her son and keeping bills paid being snowed in prevents her from working her jobs. But Austin is determined to prove to her that he can help her shoulder the heavy burdens of her raising a little boy and caring for her mother will they both find a family and love that will give them what they both need?
The first book i’ve read by Gillain Archer but won’t be the last , Rachel was hoping to get her last cleaning job of the day over & done with quickly , unfortunately for her the weather had other idea’s & she found herself trapped by a snowstorm , that wouldn’t be so bad but she was trapped with the seriously sexy Austin Burns who she had drooled over after watching him & his brothers on tv . They might of been thrown together by the weather but neither was what the other expected & soon find what started as hot sex with no strings turn into both of them facing their past demons in the shape of their parents & hopefully finding a future together .
I really loved the idea of this story. They single mom, being stranded, a jerk hero who find the one, lightish drama and a sweet HEA. It was all great when it came to the overall story. I really liked Austin and Rachel. They were so cute together. Their issues were very real and relatable and seeing them work through their issues was great.
Its so hard to explain while I have issues with the book. I feel like some things were left to unresolved. Yes I’m sure they will be resolved in the next books but I felt that Austin had the more issues with things and then bam, these issues were just gone. It really annoyed me. The ending also felt really rushed. Maybe it’s because I didn’t want the story for them to end. Overall it was an enjoyable read even with my issues with the story. I plan to read the next book in the series and hope that some things get resolved. 3 star #2OCCJD
