5 “Nothing Compares To You” Stars!
Jarret Holsten is a gorgeous, rugged rancher in the small town of Sandbank, Oklahoma. He runs Julep Ranch with his twin brother Jake. After one tragic night changed their lives, Jarret & Jake won’t stop until they get their justice and revenge. Until everything is back how it should be. They are deeply protective of their close circle of four, and have an unbreakable bond. They have done the unthinkable, and buried secrets to protect those they love who mean everything to them.
Maybe Quinn is a beautiful woman from Chicago who just arrived in Sandbank on the hunt for information and answers. She’s a journalist on an assignment, and is there for the Holsten twins. She recently lost everything, and is in the process of trying to put her life back together. She’s looking for closure and a fresh start. To right the wrongs that have been done to her.
A stunning, nosy reporter named Maybe blows in from out of town. She’s a city girl full of attitude and sass, and Jarret is intrigued. He’s suspicious of her, and thinks she may try to somehow expose his family, but he quickly becomes fascinated with her. She’s clearly on a mission to dig up all his secrets, but he’s drawn to her on a level he doesn’t quite understand. Something about her is different. He doesn’t yet know what her agenda is, but it’s clear she’s up to something and can’t be trusted. He decides to follow the keep your enemies closer mentality, and figures hopefully he can also work her out of his system. Plus he likes she’s a challenge. He can’t remember the last time he had to work this hard for a woman. He wants to play and have a little fun, and offers her a mutually beneficial deal she can’t refuse.
Jarret is one of the most eligible bachelors in Sandbank, and the sexiest man Maybe has ever met. He’s arrogant, untamed, charismatic, and infuriating. Maybe has always suffered from bad judgment, and as much as she can’t stand Jarret, she also wants him desperately. Once she gives in to desire there’s no turning back. Soon she craves him like her next breath, and is losing herself in him. He’s possessive, dominant, and gives her more pleasure than she’s ever known.
Soon Jarret and Maybe are both infatuated with one another. They share a deep connection, and are extremely attached to each other. Jarret wants to really know her, and keep her in his life, but can they truly be happy together when their relationship is built on secrets and lies. Everything becomes complicated when truths are finally revealed.
I loved this book and adore this series! This was book two in the Trails of Sin series. I can’t get enough of these dark cowboys. These stories are full of romance, love, intrigue, mystery, and passion. They are absolutely addictive! I can’t wait to get Lorne’s book next!
Oh my god! This series just keeps getting better, and I can not get enough of it!! I want more, right this second! If I thought Jake was all kinds of sweet and swoony, well Jarret blew that right out of the water and made me fall in love with him! This book was so good I didn’t want it to end at all. I was sad when I got to the very last page. I kept flicking hoping there was more, but alas, there was not.
Both main characters are just amazing. Maybe, (yes that is her real name) is looking for something and believes Jarrett can help her. Maybe is strong, but she is also a little broken inside. I felt for her.
Jarrett has secrets, and you need to read Knotted before this one so you understand what is happening in some parts of this story. Jarrett is so sweet!! He made me swoon quite a few times. He feels with his whole heart, his love is epic.
This story was angsty, it was intriguing and it had the twists to make me yell “WHAT.” Oh my goodness! I FLOVED it! I am so excited for the release of Lorne’s book In September. I also loved seeing Conor and Jake in Buckled. I love when a series is interconnected and you can see past characters live their lives. Just make sure you have a tissue ready… I needed one..I was hit with the feels big time! Love, love LOVED it!
More emotional and slow burning than the first book, Buckled was an incredible read. While the couple in this book’s story is fairly complete, there is an overall story arc that started in the first book, and continued in Buckled. It’s fascinating, and I’m dying for the conclusion.
Jarrett and Maybe have an interesting relationship. It’s based on half truths and secrets, but their connection is stronger than anything else. They take a while to trust and open up. I was enthralled as the story went on, and couldn’t believe it was over when I hit the last page. A few questions brought in the first book were answered, but I’m left with more questions that I hope will be answered in Booted. Buckled is a quickly paced story that sucks you in and holds on until the end. It *can* be read as a standalone, but I would never recommend reading Buckled without reading the first book, Knotted.
*4.5 Star Review*
Pam Godwin strikes again…with a crop! Lol. This series, Trails of Sin, is a whole new kind of ache. The physical longing that it creates is something the author should be proud of. The intense camaraderie that the reader feels for the characters is on a familial level. In short, you need this series in your life!
Buckled is Jarret’s story. Well, in truth, it’s a continuation of everyone’s story with an emphasis on Jarret. I strongly and adamantly beg you, if you haven’t read Knotted, do so NOW!
Love and friendship is the core of these characters. They are bound to each other in life. But an incident rocks them all yo their very foundation’s causing a rift you never wanted to happen. Knotted is the first step in repairing that rift. Buckled is a chance to be free to experience all of the electric feels and chaotic needs. It will also ramp up your need for Booted.
I’m oddly nervous for the next installment. I’m so excited but also wary of the changes it will bring about. I want Lorne home and I can’t wait to read his chance at a new life.

“A man cannot be good unless he possesses the capacity to be evil. Decency is a choice.”
Buckled is book #2 in the Trails of Sin series. You must read Knotted, book#1 first. Pam Godwin delivers a steady, heart pounding story. Knotted was raw and gritty, blowing me away in the first two chapters. Pam brought us to the brink before pulling back.
As Knotted concluded Jake and Connor have found their way back to one another. Lorne remains in prison and Jarret is continuing his quest to protect his family.
“I protect what’s mine.”
“The ranch, my family, our buried secrets.”
Mystery and secrets still reside at Julep Ranch. The story is steady with a vibe of impending doom. Secrets, lies, mysteries. So many twists and turns. In order to protect his family Jarrett takes Maybe Quinn into the family home. He wants to keep an eye on the stubborn “journalist” and find out what exactly she knows. He makes a deal with her to keep her at Julep Ranch. But even the best laid plans can go array…..
“She’s different. So remarkably different from other women.”
Jarret and Maybe fall into a routine at the ranch, working side by side and getting to know one another. There is an unspoken reality between them. That nothing will survive once their secrets are exposed. But the longer they are together the more intense their relationship becomes. The pull between them is heavy. Their chemistry is powerful and combustive.
“Her pursuit of the truth is what scares me. But it’s not the only thing.”
“She’s everything I’ve been waiting for and nothing like I expected.”
I loved this couple!!!! Jarret is so direct, strong, intuitive and possessive. He starts out almost brooding and yet Maybe brings out a whole other side to him. And Maybe…what an amazing heroine!!! Strong, stubborn, sassy. She’s passionate about her beliefs. She’s bold and sometimes foolish. Such a well written, loveable character!
“She’s wonderfully, beautifully, remarkably perfect. Stubborn as a mule, but damn, I wouldn’t change a thing about her.”
The story is not rushed. There are no “quick” fixes. There are issues and situations. Secrets and lies. Twists and turns. And a few “Oh shit’s”. I feel like Buckled was the smooth middle between Knotted and Booted, even though the road was often bumpy. Pam Godwin has a way of tearing your heart out, piece by piece. In Buckled, she deceives us by doing it slowly. What a ride! I have enjoyed this series and cannot wait for the conclusion, Booted!
“I’m all for self-destruction. I just haven’t found my own Connor to lay it all on the line for.”
“I don’t even know her. Except every breath in my body demands that I do.”

This is the second book of Trails of Sin. This is the Story of Jarret, and Maybe.. a story that will make your heart Roar and leave you wanting for more…
The story continues, this time Jarret is taking the center stage not only do we get to dive deeper into his character, we get to know who is he, his taste and likes. Jarrett character is amazing not only he was persistent, bold, strong, alpha, Dominant and never took “No” for an answer.. he was also romantic, caring and protective.. he knew how to read a woman but not just any woman. his woman, the one he been waiting for all his life but didn’t know it was real and she did exist..
“She’s wonderful, beautifully, remarkably perfect. Stubborn as a mule, but damn, I wouldn’t change a thing about her”
Jarret was a hard-working cowboy, the ranch was his life, he had almost everything he wanted in there, his brother and “sister” Conor. Together they kept things running. They share so many great moment and memories, after all, they were family but nothing was perfect in their lives.. he kept missing his brother Lorne, who was serving time in jail… he hadn’t had a serious relationship in a long time or maybe more like never. his only entertainment was to spend time with the ladies but he didn’t want anything more than that, just a one night stand to satisfy his need and take the edge of the routine.. not until she got to the ranch.. the intruding sexy reporter wanting to know everything about their lives.. risking everything they had been working so hard for.. but temptation is bigger than the truth and life is about to show them that nothing can stand in the way of love…
“When I’m with a woman, I communicate with my eyes, my touch, my body”
Maybe, is looking for somebody or some truth that nobody knows about, she drove to the Ranch hoping to get to the bottom of her dilemma but not Jarret or anyone on the ranch has a clue of what is she looking for, making them feel like she is a threat. She felt like an intruder, trying to bring them down. she is looking for some clues to where this person is.. she feels like she was left alone in the middle of the most beautiful stage of her life.. recently married with someone she thought was the love of her life.. but life is about to prove her wrong.. she will come face to face with the real love of her life.. someone she didn’t expect, someone she didn’t saw coming. she thought she was going to stay just a few days, but for him, she can stay forever…
“She enjoys being worshiped and adored with affection, but she gets off on rough, unyielding domination”
I really loved Maybe and Jarret Story because you can really see how their relationship started very slow, you can feel the build up between them, the resistance of letting go and finally losing themselves to love… Jarret character really blew me, especially how persistent and protective he was.. love how he didn’t give up and continue fighting no matter the circumstances.. he knew what he wanted or whom he wanted in his life and he fought harder till he got it…
“Living without you is a form of death. It’s a death I refuse to accept.”
Maybes character was very closed off, she was afraid of something, that’s the vibes she gave me at the beginning of the story, until she met Jarret, it felt like he was the only one who had a key to her armor and only with time and patience he will finally see her come undone and open to love..
“Take your space, your time, whatever you need. But I won’t let you take forever. That belongs to me. Your forever is mine”
I love Pam’s writing, you never know where she will take you, so many twists and turn that will keep you wanting more but at the same time always leaving you satisfied. I love the way she captures so many details, even the smallest ones in the lifestyle, even the ones are not so obvious but yet so important to make the story and the characters stronger.. Her male characters are always so captivating for me, Their Protective, Alpha, Dominant nature make them stronger but yet in some way vulnerable when it comes to their heroines.. they are gentle and romantic but still always in charge of protecting what belongs to them..
“Love The most powerful healing force in the universe”
Amazing series!!
I can’t get enough of these Hot Cowboys!!
Looking forward to Lorne and Raina story!!
Jarret has to be the most alpha male I have read in awhile, and yet his tender side for Maybe is remarkable. While I enjoyed Maybe and Jarret’s story it leaves me anxiously waiting for Book 3. These books must be read in order to understand the story.
Buckled is second book in the Trail of sin series by Pam Godwin.
This is a book about different couple then the first one but you do need to read Knotted first in order to understand better and so you don’t get spoilers if you read them out of the order.
In Buckled story continues from where first book left of but this time we see what happens with Jarret and his girl Maybe. Pam Godwin did brilliant job (as she always does) with the heart wrenching story with a lots of twists and unexpected complications. Right from beginning we know Maybe has a secret, something she is hiding and I felt she was somehow involved in what happened in the first book. But what Pam came up with, I did not see coming. This is a one of the big reasons why I love her books. It is always so hard to figure out what will happened. Her writing is excellent and I truly enjoy every story she spins. This book is no exception. I kept turning pages and just wanted to see what will happened. Who is this person (Maybe) and how is she involved. But I also wanted to see how will their love develop and if they will be able to stay together. I have to say that first part of the book was little slower but important in order to develop the characters and to understand how deep the convection between these two was. However second part was packed with the actions and that is where everything comes together and we got answers to our questions.
I love this book, it is a great story, sexy alphas, hot females. Oh and the cowboys, did I say cowboys?!?!! Yes hot, sexy, dominant, kinky, alpha cowboys. I swear Pam Godwin makes me dream about cowboys. And I think I want to move to Texas!
I absolutely recommend this book and I cannot wait to see what she will do with the third cowboy Lorne! I think he will be my favorite!
I never imagined that I would fall for cowboys! But after this second visit to Julep Ranch, I’m ready to save a horse and ride a cowboy!!!
Jarret has a heart of gold. Will do anything and everything to protect his family and farm. The pact the 4 of them made that day always in the fore thought. Scars to remind them. One by one till peace is found.
When the sassy, back bone stronger than cement, Maybe arrives at the bar… Jarret has guard up. There’s something there but only time will tell what she is up to.
Maybe is out to find answers. Everything has pointed her to Julep Ranch. What she didn’t expect was to find someone who would cause her to step back and find out who she truly is.
Family is certainly not made up of blood. We find that in Buckled, family is who you are branded with.
Absolutely loved Jarret and Maybe. Now I’m ready for Lorne’s story! And to find out what happens with what they acquired that doesn’t belong to them!!!
#BookBistroBlogApproved
Pam Godwin has created extremely sexy and scorching hot cowboys in the Trials of Sin series. This time the story continues with Jarret. This author has cornered the market on hot, sultry guys. Jarret will be your next BFF!
The story is not as dark as book one but more of a romantic suspense as more secrets and lies are revealed relating to the fateful day Conor was brutally raped. Jarret meets his match in Maybe. Her character was strong, feisty and sassy. She was just perfect to snare this muscle soaked hunk. Pam’s writing just draws you in from the start and hell if she can’t write kindle melting sex scenes that leave you feeling like a voyeur!
Once again told from a dual POV, the story is fast paced and takes an unexpected turn. We know Maybe is harbouring her own secrets but this author keeps us on our toes trying to work out the connection ruin Maybe has with Jarret. More questions are raised as the story progresses which will be revealed in Lornes story; up next. Whilst each book can we read as a standalone you do need to read these books in order. This book ends at an inconvenient moment which left me wanting to throw my kindle at the wall! Damn you Pam Godwin, you have left me in cliffhanger hell!
Buckled was very angsty and light on the dark elements but it suited the characters and their story. Their story was a bit of a rollercoaster but an enjoyable one. I loved that it wasn’t quick or easy but spanned sometime. I think what I loved the most was Jarret’s patience, dedication and sacrifice it showed the depth of his love for Maybe, don’t get me wrong the stuff he did would be illegal, creepy and raise a whole bunch of red flags in any other situation but in this one it’s the things swoons are made of.
I enjoyed it, recommend it and can’t wait for the conclusion of this series.
