When a reality show comes knocking, you take their offer. That’s exactly what we did, and now our cattle ranch has become a dude ranch. But the producers want more from me than to teach these city slickers how to saddle up. They want me to play the part of Romeo in an on-screen romance. Until I tell them I’m engaged.Too bad that’s a bold-faced lie.Now I have to find a willing participant in my … participant in my charade for the next twelve weeks and my friend has the perfect solution. She’s gorgeous, smart, and sexy as sin—and she’s agreed to fake our engagement, for a price.
If making it look real is as fun as I think it’ll be, I’m in trouble. Because this woman might be the one who tames my wild side.

The second book in the Ryker Ranch series a well written story that kept me turning pages. This is rancher Buck Ryker and Penny Callahan’s story it will have its ups and down, as these two work towards a happy ending. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I enjoyed reading Penny and Buck’s story. They have great chemistry. Looking forward to reading the other books in the series
“I didn’t realize it (love) also means a future filled with happy days and warm nights and everything in between.” Swoon… Wow could this story get any better. What started as a fake engagement changed along the way. Buck and Penny both entered into this for their own personal reasons. Even though Penny had feelings for Buck, she promised herself they would stay hidden. She didn’t think Buck felt the same way for her and she didn’t want to risk heartbreak. The more time they were together the more those feelings became harder to keep hidden. Buck started to realize his feelings for her were changing and instead of an end date he wanted her permanently. Both had no idea of what the other was feeling. If only they told each other how they felt so much could have been avoided.
Penny and Buck are so perfect together. Watching them grow closer as time goes on but always thinking, could this be real or is it because of the cameras is what will keep you glued to every word. I am enjoying this series with each couple. Each couple has their own unique story that you will fall in love with. An enjoyable read and a story so deserving of 5 stars.
I absolutely loved Buck and Penny’s spicy relationship. This was a great enemies to friends to lovers story.
Penny and Buck have know each other for most of their lives. They had a misunderstanding from years ago, although Buck being a guy, he didn’t realise it. However, Buck is in need of a fake fiancé and Penny needs a job after being fired from hers. The TV show on the ranch is taking off and Buck needs her.
Buck is a sweet and protective cowboy. I love how was doing what he could for the ranch. Penny and Buck’s chemistry. It was off the charts hot but it was also sweet. It developed so naturally and went at a wonderful pace. Penny is the perfect addition to the Ryker clan
I did not nearly enjoy this as much as I did Saddle Up. Penny (heroine) was switch between hot and cold was a form of whiplash. Most of the time these switches made the story fall apart. Example, she approaches Buck (hero) at his table asking if the seat is taken, but I don’t even understand why she approached him because at this point the reader already knows how she feels about him. It’s evident that they love each other, but their excuses for not seeing it are weak. There is a sort of sub plot involving Tristan, that detracts from the main story. When Penny and Buck are getting along they are sweet and steamy, the chemistry is great.
I love when an author takes a trope that we all know and makes it her own! Kim Loraine has a talent for this, she took the fake relationship between Buck and Penny and gave us what we wanted, no what we needed.
We are back at the Ryker Ranch but this time we get to know Buck Ryker, a real rancher/cowboy with a hard alpha shell, until Penny comes along and cracks it to show us the vulnerability that Buck doesn’t want anyone to see.
This is a sweet romance with just enough sizzle. It will bring you back to Montana and you won’t want to leave! And thankfully you won’t have to yet as there is at least one more Ryker Ranch story on the way. This was a wonderful addition to this series and you don’t want to miss out on it!
Second book of the Ryker family series and I loved this book so much. Sort of enemies to lovers/fake relationship with some more of the alpha Ryker cowboys.
Will they last more than 8 seconds or will she get Bucked Off
*** 3 1/2 Stars ***
Bucked Off is the second book in the Ryker Ranch series and is the story of Buck Ryker and Penny Callahan. Their story will make you melt into a puddle or make you scream at them both. I went back and forth with this book between not understanding Penny or wanting to smack Buck and then loving the two of them together. In the end I did like the book but just not as much as Saddle Up.
great read and great series
I really enjoyed this story! Ryker ranch is a wonderful series with great characters.
This is the 2nd book in the Ryker’s Ranch Series. It can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading them in order. I did enjoy the book and look really enjoyed this book and forward to the rest of the series. The story is about Buck and Penny. They have been friends since childhood and later were each other’s first kiss. Hurt feeling ensued and Penny has avoided Buck for years. To keep from having to follow a scripted-on screen romance Buck tells producers of the show that he has a fiancé but now he must someone to be his fake fiancé. Penny is in need of money and a job, so she agrees to help him out.

Such a great book absolutely loved it
This is the second book in the Ryker Ranch Series. You can listen to it as a standalone, but I recommend you to listen to the Series in order. Buck and Penny’s story is a sweet and beautiful fake fiance romance, and a second chance to love. They are both great characters. Buck is handsome!! They share a strong chemistry. The family spirit in this Series is wonderful. Momma is such a great character. This story is as great as the first book in the Series. Kim Loraine never disappoints. Aaron Shedlock and Stella Hunter are both great narrators. They did an excellent job with the narration. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listen to the next book in the Series, Tristan’s story!
An absolutely fantastic book two in the Ryker Ranch series! The story-line is well written, well developed, witty, funny, emotionally deep, and engaging. The characters are likeable (Penny is feisty and strong; Buck is swoon-worthy and the perfect man); their chemistry is intense and off the charts. This story grabs your attention from the start and keeps it until the end … you will find yourself completely engrossed in the riveting story-line. A Must Read!

I enjoyed reading about Buck and Penny. They are friends who fake a relationship so he doesn’t want to be on a tv show, well things don’t turn out how they expected but better. I liked the heat, the humor, and did I mention the heat?

Posted as the new Romeo for the reality show that has taken over his family’s ranch, Buck has decided tho throw a wrench in their plans by stating he is engaged. Without a fiance Buck is left scrambling to find one. When a blast from his past crosses his path, Penny becomes the Fake fiance. But will feeling become more than just lies when the two find themselves together? Or wil the hurt from the past come back and bite Buck in the chaps? I loved the enemies to lovers storyline surrounded by a great family that puts a smile on the readers face as they read. I think cowboys have become the new sex symbols.
A captivating read from beginning to end! An exciting storyline that leaves you breathless wanting more! Sexy steam filled chemistry! Emotionally heartfelt, enjoyable and fun! One heck of a twisted, intense rollercoaster ride! An amazing must read!
Buck is all kinds of sexy with an easygoing personality that is hard to resist. The dynamics of the Ryker family continue to pull me in. Characters are realistic for a close-knit group who watches out for each other and provides support during difficult times. Momma is adorable and spunky and absolutely perfect! All of the missed opportunities, misunderstood conversations, and stubborn cowboy nonsense makes for another great story about the Rykers. I’m really looking forward to more books in the series to introduce us to the rest of the family as they find love. I made the mistake of starting this story at bedtime and ended up playing “1 more chapter” until I finished the book without stopping. Not sorry!
Once again, Aaron and Stella deliver excellent performances. Aaron has a very smooth cowboy twang you can’t help but fall for. Stella is getting better with every book, so I will definitely be listening to more. Both narrators were consistent and melded together well. Definitely worth a credit!
Bucked Off: A Fake Fiance Romance
Ryker Ranch, Book 2
By: Kim Loraine
Narrated by: Stella Hunter, Aaron Shedlock
There are some authors I will give up sleep for, and Kim Loraine is one. No matter the romance sub-genre, she captivates me and keeps me enthralled. While I love her paranormal, I tend to drift towards the contemporary and this cowboy series could not get any better. The Rykers are incredible. This one features the second brother, Buck. He is approached to have a budding romance on their new reality tv show, but has no interest in being the center of attention. He decides to get himself a fake fiance to take the heat off, but another kind of heat is beginning to build. Penny has always been attracted to Buck. Hurt as a teenager, she isn’t sure this idea of his will work, but she needs the money. Will these two be able to fool the cameras? Sexy, flirty, funny, this book has it all. Buck is impossible not to fall for. Swoony, thoughtful and good looking, it’s too hard not to love him. Penny is feisty and determined, yet her heart is saying something else. I loved it! The history, the show, the couple, the family interaction, the friends they make, and the way Buck says Sugar. And then we get cousin Travis, the hot fire fighter that I just have to wonder if we will get more for him later (do I sense a spinoff for a Golden Beach revival?)! I love this family, and can’t wait for Tristan!
Kim Loraine knows how to cast her characters and this team is phenomenal. Aaron Shedlock brings out that Texas twang, and pulls us in with his seductive drawl. Every time he says Sugar, I was melting! He finds all the facets of Buck and lets us see the heart of this cowboy. Newcomer Stella Hunter is fast moving up on my radar. I am loving her performances. She is fantastic as she delves into the personality of her characters and nails each nuance. Loved this narration!
