When a bloody painting is found hanging on a café wall, Benny James is summoned by the local police department. As a retired FBI detective now working as a private investigator, he remains a major player when it comes to peculiar murder scenes and cracking clues.
Tracking down the killer with Officer Vernon Kearns, the partners find bizarre art pieces that lead them to discarded bodies. As the … bodies. As the list of suspects grows, a couple of artists living in a broken down plantation house piques their interest. One of the artists has the odd habit of taking on the personalities of others. The other has a secret she is desperately trying to hide.
Vernon’s detective skills mature as he and Benny rendezvous with another eccentric cast of characters, new and old. For the small town in Georgia this may be the most important case of Benny’s life as the town teeters on fear’s edge.

Crazy. Couldn’t get into this one. …..hummmmm secrets and strangeness and weird characters…….. finally stopped half way through even though I read that the ending would be great……. sorry.
Poorly written
I loved it.
This book is not very good. It reads almost like a young adult book, with predictable characters and simplistic, uninspiring dialog. Skip this one.
A good way to spend a day reading. Fun to read, twists and turns; characters were different which added to the humor. Unpredictable leading you through the suspects until the end.
I enjoyed this book. Great characters, tho I admit I was pretty sure who the killer was. Things kept moving right along.
Funny characters. Real emotions mixed with unexpected oddities of characters who are not like the “rest of us” in one way or another. Fun read.
Intense! Suspenseful! Scary! I really enjoyed this series. It had interesting characters that seemed real and interesting twists and turns that had me holding my breath. I wish there were more than just the three books.
