Sometimes that’s the way the Thin Mints crumble…
When Lisa Taylor and her family move from San Francisco to the suburban paradise of Los Corderos, they know their family won’t fit in perfectly. They’re the only interracial family in the neighborhood. Lisa is a snarky sculptor. And 13-year-old Logan is gay.
After Logan is repeatedly bullied at school, he finds his niche in an unusual place — … unusual place — his twin sister’s Girl Scout troop. When he tries to join, the organization refuses, so the boy sues for gender discrimination and sets off a firestorm of national media coverage. This only makes matters worse between the Logan and his father, a macho firefighter who is already struggling with his son’s sexual orientation.
Adding to the strife is Lisa’s increasing distaste for Junta Moms who wish each other “Namaste” while rigging school elections and stealing each other’s husbands.
Join the Taylors on their hilarious journey as they face the fight of their lives and, in the process, discover what it means to be a family.

Another good one by this author.Interesting twist on a familiar modern issue.I completely enjoyed this book and felt for the characters- alittle unrealistic at times but gave good insight into the court process..Would recommend.
If you are interested in a book with a bi racial couple and gay child you would enjoy this book but I found it a bit boring.
Jennifer Coburn writes with lots of humor, this book lived up to the reputation.
I enjoyed the mixed race family, something rarely found in the stories I enjoy reading. The story was filled with Coburn’s usual quirky characters. The little family moved from an eclectic neighborhood in San Francisco to the cookie-cutter McMansions of the suburbs. …
This was a cute story. I liked the way this family embraces the difference among them and learns to see things from a different perspective. It is easy to read and entertaining.
Great beach read. Well done.
silly story about a woman with misplaced ideals. provided some laughs if you are looking for something light this is it. lessons learned along the way make it worth finishing.
A very relevant topic that seems like it could easily be in the news. Some of the characters will get on your nerves, but the main characters are enjoyable. Overall a quick read with a happy ending.
Just loved this book
It sounded so natural. I enjoyed it very much.
Loved this take on city folks moving to suburbia.
I did not know what to expect from this novel. Expect the unexpected. It was humorous and moving. The ending was unexpected. Entertaining and heartwarming.
Quick easy entertaining read
Not terribly well-written and lost momentum towards the end.
All parents of gay teens should read. Humorous insight to that live challenge.
I really liked the characters and the concept of a teenager coming of age and coming out as a gay male. Very poignant and well done. Interesting insight into the typical yuppy neighborhood and soccer moms. Can’t wait to read more by this author.
Not my type of book. I thought I would like it, but could not keep reading it.
did not catch my interest.
I just finished reading this book and loved it. It’s entertaining, but also tackles some tough subjects without being preachy.
I definitely recommend that you read it for yourself.
Currently reading & so loving this fabulous book.
