The rocky relationships of four siblings complicate efforts to care for an aging parent diagnosed with the mother of all maladies in the new millennium.

Very recognizable premise to anyone who has an Alzheimer’s sufferer in their lives. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
A riveting story of a mother’s decline into Alzheimer’s disease and the effects on her children. We say its sad when we hear a person has been diagnosed as having Alzheimer’s. However, with no first hand knowledge, its hard to really understanding the impact it has on the person’s family. This novel brings it up close and personal. It opened up new understandings for me.
If you have a parent or loved one going through Alzheimer’s or dementia, it is very relatable and insightful in what the disease does to a family and the family member who is a caretaker.
Wow! This book was well thought out &/or researched. You would think this was a true story. Great storyline. I really got in to each character & the way it all flows together. You believe they are a family that has to overcome the past & move on & work together. Will definitely look for more books by this author.
Great Book, facing something many families may have to address. Very enjoyable read.
Good read
Very accurate description of the stages and progression of Alzheimer’s disease and typical family in-fighting.
Brought to our senses is a realistic picture of what happens as parents age and have to go into long-term care. The author handled these difficult situations in a kind, compassionate way. I would have liked to read more of their faith journey during this process. However, as written it will not be offensive to those of other religious beliefs.
I decided to read this because I too dealt with the family dynamics of a mother with Alzheimers. I enjoyed learning about all the characters and how they fit into a very dysfunctional family.
I could not identify with the anger and overt hostility between the siblings but the stress and chaos that goes along with the disease process was spot on.
As much as I enjoyed the story line, I re-lived the emotions of the past and was deeply affected by the book.
In the end, the author managed to show how this disease can tear families apart and, at the same time, create a path to heal and eventually recover.
Poor book to portray an Alzheimer’s woman long with her mental illness. Too many family members thrown in at the end; could not keep track of them.
Eyeopening about aging.
So realistic and current. It was very enlightening for us older people.. A very good read.
Enjoyed the book. True in any ways.
I’m not done with it yet. A tad slow moving.
A good family story, quite true to life.
Having gone through a somewhat similar story with my own Mother, I found the story interesting and thought provovacative. I didn’t agree with a lot of how it was handled, but then, again, it was only a story.
Dealing with a similar situation in real life. Makes you realize you are not alone.
very interesting to be a fly on the wall watching a family deal with a devastating disease
Educational look into the dilemmas families face with this awful disease.
This read more like a memoir than a novel.
