Clay Green
A brotherhood? Monsters? Goddesses? Magic?
The world has become a strange place.
After a life on the run, Clay Green is rescued by a crazy old lady with a shotgun and an even crazier story about monsters, goddesses, and a secret brotherhood.
Gifted with the power of the earth, Clay must locate his missing “brothers” before invading monsters can destroy everything.
As if that’s not … destroy everything.
As if that’s not enough to contend with, Clay can’t keep his hands off the man trying to rebuild the plantation house he’s temporarily living in.
Dane Briggs
Something strange is going on…
Dane knew restoring the old plantation house wasn’t going to be an easy job, but at least none of the clients were going to be underfoot. Since losing his wife and child, the only way Dane can keep going is to focus on the work.
But that focus crumbles the second Clay appears covered in blood and barely hanging on to life.
Mystery and danger cling to Clay and the other men who suddenly show up. A smart man would walk away.
Dane chucks smart out the window in favor of hungry kisses and the silken slide of skin against skin. He doesn’t understand what’s happening, but there’s no question that Clay needs him.
He’s just not sure his heart can survive being broken again if something happens to Clay.
Broken Warrior is the first book in The Weavers Circle series. It includes fast-paced action, explosions, hurt/comfort, sexy times, animal shenanigans, wounded hearts, three crazy old ladies, and magic!

I love magic, and I love Jocelynn and Rinda’s work so I was eager to read the debut of this series. Broken Warrior did not disappoint! Even though this is a series with interconnected characters, the authors didn’t overwhelm this story by trying to introduce everyone at once. They brought the first couple together, set the stage for the series and tied up this episode nicely. Though it’s obviously not a full resolution, I don’t feel like I got tossed over a cliff, dangling until the next book. Broken Warrior balances action, magic, sex, and romance well. I look forward to the next book!
Wow! I really hope these brilliant ladies can write fast, because I need the next book tomorrow, if possible!
The premise of this series is unique and awesome. For the longest time, a dying alternate dimension has been seeping Earth’s life through a rift in the wall separating the two worlds. Three goddesses have been trying to seal the rift, but they weren’t strong enough, especially when the other dimension started to send its creatures to fight them. That’s why the goddesses divided and gave their powers to six worthy men, supposed to wield them and keep our world safe: the Weavers’ Circle. But these men, so far, have always been defeated and killed, and their souls reborn every thirty years. It’s been an ongoing cycle of finding each other, learn to use their powers, fight the monsters (called the pestilents), get killed…again, and again, and again…
Which brings us to present day.
Clay is part of the newest “batch” of Weavers. After months of being chased by some creepy, stinky people, he was saved by a crazy old lady with a gun, taken to a plantation house and told that he was supposed to save the world together with his five “brothers”. You gotta admit it was a lot to throw at the poor guy, especially after he was given his power. He clung to his confusion and disbelief, because how could that be his new reality, where he could whisper to trees, command vines to move at his will and make the earth quake? But he had to accept the truth really fast, after he risked his life and used his power helping two other Weavers, Baer and Grey, reach the safety of the plantation house.
At least Clay had Dane to sweeten the pill, so to speak. Neither was prepared for the strong connection and insane passion, and they did their best to fight the pull towards each other…until they just ran out of reasons to keep away. I wondered if Dane could even remain at the plantation, considering the Weavers’ mission, and the authors’ answer to my question was an incredible surprise. And I gotta say, the way these two were together, their sweetness and their chemistry, helped with dispersing the fear and worry, at least a bit.
Because the monsters are too many and too close to home for comfort, and Clay, Baer and Grey are still learning how to use their powers. Are the other three “brothers” even going to make safe to the plantation? Is THIS Weavers’ Circle the one to finally defeat the pestilents and close the rif? I’m so, so, so looking forward to the next books and find out.
I LOVED this book and I can’t recommend it enough.
Loved the start to this new series!
This is a very intriguing start to a new paranormal series. The premise is quite different…mortals imbued with powers by goddesses in their role as warriors to drive back an invasive other dimension species looking to devastate the earth.
There are two storylines happening here. There’s an overarching story that is obviously going to continue through out the books and then there is the individual romance story. As this is the first book it also doing all the heavy lifting in world building. The world building is fantastic and frustrating. I feel the MCs pain in not fully understanding what is happening as the goddesses give out information in a piecemeal fashion.
The romance story here is between Clay and Dane. Clay is one of the Weavers who has been pulled by something he doesn’t understand to Georgia. He is being pursued by very smelly guys who clearly want to kill him and he has no idea why. When he is saved during an attack at a dive motel by a woman with a shotgun who could be his grandmother, he gets pulled into something he neither asked for nor understands.
Dane is a handyman hired to work on the plantation house where the Weavers will be staying. Sparks fly between Dane and Clay, other Weavers show up, more attacks happen and we build towards the next book. Too much more detail here would constitute spoilers.
There are great twists and turns, the characters are intriguing, the story is unique and compelling. I look forward to more books in this series.
I usually love what these two authors put out, but I just couldn’t get into this one. I loved the premise of the story and I liked Clay and Dana’s characters well enough, but something was missing for me. I felt the story dragged in some places too. I also would have liked to see more interaction with the Goddesses than there was. The story was well written, but I had a hard time staying engaged. Nevertheless, I do recommend giving this one a try as this might be what you’re looking for if you like magic, fated mates, goddesses, and bad guys. I won’t be continuing on with this series, but I will keep an eye out to see what these authors bring us next as I am still a huge fan.
Broken Warrior is the first book in The Weavers Circle series.
With the introduction of the three main warriors in the circle, this book has a lot of necessary world-building of the history, the plan for the future, in addition to the focus on Clay, and the introduction of the lovely Dane.
With lots of action, palpable heat, and some humor thrown in as well, Broken Warrior is a strong series opener and a great introduction to the series arc.
There were several interesting twists to the character and plot development, which were refreshing. It ensured the plot didn’t become overly formulaic. These also helped to give the two main characters in this story depth.
There were some slow-moving chapters at times, and I did find myself skimming ahead a little. Hopefully, with a large portion of the world-building now complete, this won’t be an issue in future books.
Overall a very good and enjoyable read.
This is a new book to start out The Weavers Circle series. Clay is being chased by something that just smells. It smells awful and he cannot figure out why he is running for his life from this and its awful smell. Then when he arrives where he finds he should be, he meets the most amazing man.
Dane is being paid well to repair an old home that is coming to be a beauty again. He is accompanied by people he is finding are more strange than he even though at the beginning. He is also starting to feel things for one of them. Can he even trust them?
One of the most intriguing urban fantasy stories I have read in such a long while, I am loving these characters so much. Each and every one of them are deep and fun with incredible personalities. While at a fast pace, the action and excitement never stops. I literally could not put this book down, it felt like losing an appendage! I cannot wait for the next story in this incredible new series. Please hurry loves!
This book has an intriguing storyline with some fascinating characters and paranormal elements that leaves you curiousand craving more.
Clay is being hunted by men and has no idea why, enter a crazy old lady who takes him to an old plantation house where he meets Dane. Dane is the handyman who has been bringing the plantation house back to life.
This was a wonderful start to a new series and I can’t wait for more. I definitely recommend this book!
Independent reviewer for GAy Romance Reviews, I was gifted my copy of this book.
Running from what, he doesn’t know, but Clay needs to run, and run south. He follows his instincts and finds himself in a fight to save the earth from destruction. Dane finds himself fighting his attraction to Clay, even as he fights himself over his guilt at the death of his wife and son. Dane doesn’t know whats going on in the house, but he wants to find out, and he knows, deep down, he wants Clay.
So! Different, very different and I really rather loved it!
Clay finds himself at the helm of The Weavers. These are a band of 6 brothers, that come together time and time again to save the earth from destruction by beings from another dimension. And when i say time and time AGAIN, I mean that quite literally. The Weavers have been gathered together many times over the years and they have yet to finally close the rift that bring the beings to earth. Maybe this time will be different but the Goddess who brings Clay to the house doesn’t know why they didn’t manage to close the rift yet. Her and her sisters are hoping this time they will.
I loved Clay and I loved Dane. I loved Grey and Bear too, another 2 of the brothers who manage to get to the house in this book. I’m assuming they will get their own books at some point. The three Goddesses keep popping in and out, and they are amusing at times, in that they are VERY cryptic in what they are letting these three brothers know, in this book, anyway.
They are also, I think, tired. Having been doing this song and dance for EVER, there comes a time when anyone would say, enough is enough. I *think* this might be the case, although nothing is actually said here, it’s just an impression I get.
I loved this book, I really did. Not quite a one sitting, cos, you know, a girl gotta sleep, but very nearly.
Both Clay and Dane have a say, although at first I thought it might just be Clay. You get all their interactions in the beginning, and what I really liked, when I realised Dane would get a say, was that we get all his fighting with himself. We get Clay’s fighting with the beings, but it is Dane’s fighting with himself, with his guilt and his feelings for his dead wife, and for Clay, that really make this book, for me anyway.
It’s sexy, but its equally deadly. The fights are described in some detail, but I liked that.
I really like how this book lays most of it out for you, but I have a feeling there is MUCH we don’t know yet. I really look forward to reading future books in this series!
5 very excited for the next book stars
I really enjoyed this newest series Weavers Circle by some of my favorite authors. When I learned that they were going to write a paranormal series….I was super excited and let me tell you they do a phenomenal job weaving this tale. We are introduced to three of the weavers right away…Clay, Grey, and Baer. They are brought together to this Georgia plantation with 3 goddesses (Flo, Jo, and Billie) who help them along the way when they need it. Dane is hired to renovate the plantation and the spark ignites when Clay and Dane first meet. Dane doesn’t know what to think about Clay, he has experienced such devastating loss and doesn’t know if he could open his heart and let another in. The more time Dane spends with Clay, the more his walls start to come down and he can no longer deny how Clay makes him feel. When secrets come to light and creatures threaten the weavers, can Clay and Dane’s relationship survive all of this? What a phenomenal story…I was hooked from beginning to end and didn’t want to see it end. I laughed, teared up, swooned during the hot steamy moments. It was a well written story one that I would recommend. I can’t wait to read more from this series, well done!!!
What a brilliant start to a new series. I loved it. It was action packed, steamy & I shed a few tears,so good! I loved Clay & Dane. Baer(Ruby), grumpy Grey,Jo.Flo & Willie. Can’t wait for next book to see what happens next & to meet the other characters.
Acceptance
What a fascinating and spellbinding beginning to a new series! It has mystery, magic, secrets, danger, found family and so much love. I gotta say I like Jo’s style and the ladies remind me of quirky fairy godmothers and the new characters that appear are funny, lovable and intriguing. I enjoyed (and will continue to) seeing how they fit and work together and am anxiously awaiting the next one.
Mysterious events draw Clay to Dane and from the moment they set eyes on each other they have an intense and powerful connection. “Now, I know what it feels like to be complete.” Dane and his pain broke my heart; I wanted to cuddle him the entire time I was reading this. Clay, though, I think needs even more love in his life. His prickliness resonated with me.
“I want you to always look at me with love in your eyes, because that’s how I’m going to look at you for the rest of my life.” It’s these feelings that made me fall for Dane and Clay, and even though they fought it (maybe especially so), they’re inevitable. Together they are unstoppable and this is only the beginning. Their journey was one amazing and wild ride. Magical, phenomenal, brilliant, breathtaking, and unforgettable, this book has it all. Grab a comfy spot and some snacks as once you start reading you won’t stop until the exciting end.
Broken Warrior is the first book in The Weavers Circle series by Jocelynn Drake & Rinda Elliott. This is a paranormal m/m novel has an intriguing storyline, fascinating characters, fast paced action, paranormal elements, emotional up and downs, steamy encounters and a feeling of being part of something huge and important. The readers get to enjoy the overall story of ” the brothers” but also this book explores the chemistry between Clay and Dane. I am absolutely hooked on this series and can’t wait for more.
Advice..don’t start reading this book if you don’t have a lot of time. You won’t be able to put it down. The action begins in the first pages and never stops. It also has magic, suspense, humor, love, and steam. A group of guys who are developing a brotherhood/friendship and learning their powers to be able fight against an evil set on destroying earth. You get to meet most of characters (who are all great) but the couple featured in this book is Clay and Dan. They fight their attraction to each other since so much is going on in their lives (like fighting evil) but it does not last long (the authors do not drag it out, thank god). And they melt your Kindle with their heat and your heart with their love.
I am already hooked on this new magical world and the group of funny, sexy and intriguing guys.
I am in love with this new world that Jocelynn Drake and Rinda Elliott have created. Trust me, don’t
start reading it unless you have are prepared to not stop until you reach the very last page.
The mix of magic, suspense, action, brotherhood, romance and heat is topnotch.
Clay and Dane generate so much love, heat and affection that it is impossible to not fall in love with them. These two are just perfect together. They truly complete each other in every possible way.
I love the chemistry and connection between them.
The rest of the characters in this book add so much depth and dimension to the story. From the three older “aunts” to the additional two “brothers” this group forms
I loved this story as soon as I started reading. The opening drops Clay and the reader straight into the action, and keeps the tension going until after the final page with hints of what’s ahead. I’m already hanging out for the next book in the series.
The world building is fabulous, and the magic very cool. I loved the details of how it all works, and that there are consequences for the user, and that learning to use it isn’t easy, and needs a lot of practise. I liked how they don’t always win against the bad guys, as it sets them up as a very real threat. The action scenes are exciting and I thought very well written and inventive with how the guys use their magic against the pestilents.
Clay and Dane fit together perfectly and the twist in the story about their relationship was very nicely done. I loved both their sweet and sexy scenes together, and how their personalities offset each other’s. I really liked Dane’s part in the story, and the added twist because of it. I loved Clay’s power and the descriptions of how he uses it.
This is very much a story about family and I liked the ‘brothers’ different personalities, and how they play off each other, and their different kinds of magic. I’m intrigued by Grey and Baer and looking forward to reading their books.
The aunts rock, and add a bit of humour to the mix, although they’re also deadly serious when they need to be.
More please.
