They think they own me now. They think they’ve won, and that I’ll be their good little soldier. Four dangerous, damaged, messed up boys. There used to be five, but one of them died, and I’m starting to suspect he was murdered.I didn’t ask for this. No one would ask to be played, manipulated, seduced and betrayed. But that’s what happened, anyway. It wasn’t enough for them to break me. Sebastian … them to break me. Sebastian Beckett has decided that he can’t let me go, but I refuse to forgive and forget his betrayal so easily. His fixation is bordering on obsession, but when we begin to suspect a spy within Delta, there’s no time to deal with his feelings.
Someone is selling us out, and it’s having a dire impact.
It’s life and death hiding behind corporate greed.
Let the battle begin.
This dark contemporary romance features four sexy, dangerous boys but is NOT a reverse harem.

I absolutely love this book! This one ends on a bit of a cliffy that you will NEED to know what happens next! Seriously that ending came out of absolutely nowhere .
I love the characters, the story & just everything about this book! This story will completely keep you in your toes & it just completely epic! Is cannot praise this story enough!
This audiobook is one of my favorites! Marnye Young & Jarred Kjack do such an amazing job with the story. I love how Jarred comes in and does the voices of all the guys when they speak, yummy voice that one has.
This series is addicting. Loved the first book sooo much and this one didn’t disappoint.
My Rating: 3/4
Type: Series –book 2
Genre: Contemporary Fiction Romance, YA, Thriller
Primary Characters: Sebastian Beck, Riley, Dylan, Jasper, Evan
Narration: Dual POV (Occasional chapters from Beck’s POV)
This is the second book in Dark legacy series and can’t be read as standalone. As author’s have specified it’s NOT a reverse harem. This review may contain spoilers from book1
This book picked up exactly from the moment that the previous book left us!!! This starts exactly after Riley’s initiation into Delta group. Riley is angry with all the boys and thinks they have broken her trust. Boys try to win and bring her back in their circle but she is adamant and struggles with trust issues. Boys aren’t going to let her just walk away from them without a fight. I understand Riley and Boys here, but first half of book didn’t progress much apart from this, and it was getting on my nerves. In the entire first half, I was happy for that one action scene where Riley showcases her mad driving skills.
As Riley is coming closer to them for once again in second half, new problems are starting to rise on the horizon. With secrets, lies, betrayal, death and power they have to be a stronger unit. Beck is my favorite in this. His possessiveness over Riley was worth watching. I liked all other guys. Jasper is confident with a slight pinch of arrogant. Evan is cool, I loved his reference to “Trunks” from “Dragon Ball Z”. I still couldn’t figure out what I should feel for Dylan. Dylan being “Piccolo”, the wise badass one is the best reference for his character.
Even though this book didn’t answer all the questions, it was solid in terms of bonding. Even though it’s not an extraordinary or wonderful sequel, it added some good solid dynamics within the group.

I wish I could give more than five stars! I seriously fucking love this series, it’s dark and twisted and there is just something so seedy about it especially for it being about a bunch of rich assholes. I love that Riley was strong enough to hold onto her anger and feelings of betrayal, but also strong enough to work through it. She discovers a lot about herself in this book, and a lot about a few others in her life. The emotions are definitely high, and there were a few times I felt myself wishing this were an RH story (it could totally work that way-maybe they will write an alternate version at some point). But these characters are fantastic, the storyline complex, intriguing and captivating, and the twisted up ending left me even more hooked!
My god shit went down here like so much messed up stuff and I was on literal pins throughout.
So here we have the aftermath of the boy’s betrayal Riley is smoking mad and very hurt and quite rightly so.
She has no idea who to trust now and is feeling pretty alone Dante is her only comfort after the messy fallout from the previous book.
This leads her to make some rash decisions that could have ended very differently than they actually did.
It’s this event that eventually turns the tide for them and allows her to maybe try and understand the whys of it all.
I was so invested in the unfolding drama and as much as I understand why the boys had acted the way they did, Being practically raised by Delta has given them a skewed outlook and they saw their actions as protecting Riley rather than the stab in the back she thinks it is, I also wanted to totally brain them no matter how remorseful they acted.
They’d betrayed Riley’s trust completely and she not in a forgiving mood especially towards Beck and they all definitely had there work cut out crawling back into her good graces.
There a lot going on here broken trust and further betrayals and one that really shocked me and gutted Riley.
Beck and Riley also seem to have moved to a new level in there relationship it was hard going for a while but now they seem more solid than ever.
Though Riley definitely needs to start sharing her burdens and I was screaming NO!!! at my kindle as this one drew to a close.
Again this was brilliant chock full and I’m loving this series a whole lot.
Oh and just a heads up before I go this one does have a scene with some definite triggers.

‘Broken Trust’ is book two in the co-authored series Dark Legacy written by Jaymin Eve and Tate James.
‘Broken Trust’ continues on from book one ‘Broken Wings’ ends. Now you’ve read book one and you know that Riley has been betrayed/set up, she was “blackmailed” into killing someone to save her bf Dante. If you haven’t read ‘Broken Wings’ stop reading this review right now, close this page and look it up and read it, right NOW!
Riley has had her life flipped upside down, threatened, almost killed several times, thrown into a world she doesn’t understand. Just when she started to feel like a part of the Delta group she is pushed into something she wants nothing to do. Now betrayed by the Delta guys Dylan, Jasper, Evan and ‘boyfriend’ Beck, Riley needs to protect her bf Dante and save his life.
I enjoyed reading this book much more then book one ‘Broken Wings’, I especially loved Beck’s povs. But I did find that Riley had lost some of her bada** chick mojo that she had in ‘BW’. I found her to be contradicting herself, whiny, and a bit of a hypocrite, but towards the 50% mark she was back to being the Riley I enjoyed reading. The guys were great as usual, there overly protectiveness was cute to see. I started to dislike and distrust Dante in ‘BW’ but I feel there is more to his story than what this duo authors have shared so far. Also Deb*tch must meet her end soon. The twist, turns and revelations had me glued to the pages.
Can’t wait to get into ‘Broken Legacy’. Well done ladies, really enjoying this series.
I’m left on a cliff…hanging! Damn Riley just keeps running into more trouble and people out to get her! Can I just say…I love Sebastian, Dylan, Evan, and Jasper so much! Damn this could be a great RH! Lol! But seriously…Sebastian is the perfect alphahole! My heart got caught up in these characters. Oh so good!
Wow…my mind is spinning. Tate James, author, does a very good job of hooking me and keeping me so engrossed in that I couldn’t stop listening/reading (going back and forth…listen when my hands are busy and read when easier). While helping my family get a late lunch for Thanksgiving (got together early with my husband family so we can have a get together with the my side of the family) I listened to Broken Trust. Even while cooking I listened and on the way home. Well….any time I could I did. I have to say I am so glad the cliffhanger was not as bad as Broken Wing, first book in series. Tate weaved a story with lots of twist, turns, things going sideways, lots of heat, and feels in Broken Trust. I didn’t even waste time and started Broken Legacy as I needed to find out what will happen next. Broken Trust is another 5 read that Tate wrote that I absolutely loved. Could not put away or hesitate to listen or read in turns. I, also, have to say I loved the narrators, Marnye Young and Jarred Kjack’s ability to perform and read Broken Trust totally made the story and had me a little hot and bothered with all the heat in Broken Trust. Also, loved the fact that some of the sounds (like cough, laugh, etc) were added to make the audiobook of Broken trust come alive. I stayed up till 3:45 am and waking at 8 am to head to my mother in laws to help get everything ready and to cook my contribution to lunch all while listening to Broken Trust. My husband kept having to repeat himself as I would have to pause respond and then get right back to Broken Trust. I am sure my family noticed my distraction. At least as soon as we started to put the food out I had to put away my ear pods and be with my family. Once we started clean up I started listening again . Highly recommend Broken Trust. Well, the whole series as I know Tate will not disappoint with the rest of the series. Enjoy!!
Put to amazing authors together and is it a surprise that this is what you get? Hell no! I’m salivating at the chance to read the next book!
***4 “Unconditional!!!” stars!!!***
“We are a family… You’re just delaying the inevitable. The five of us, that is meant to fucking be.”
(NOTE: This is NOT a reverse harem story!!!)
OMG!!!! What shits are happening to this book???
Everything had turned upside down… You really don’t know what is happening in here!!!
Everything are fucked up!!! Who will you trust after all when everything is trembling down???
UGHHHHH!!!! I NEED the next and final book!!!! I NEED some answers, damn it!!!
Nothing and nobody is at it seems and i want for the masks has to pull down!!!
“That’s so fucked up…
This whole world you live in, it’s totally fucked up.”
This book picked up exactly from the moment that the previous book left us!!!
Riley is broken from the Delta heirs’s betrayal and she is refusing to have anything to do with them..
Unfortunately for her, they are not from those guys that are backing up so easily!!!
Riley is one of them now and they will be always by her side, even though she doesn’t stand looking at them at the moment!!!
“My heart hurt so badly, like the fucking thing had been stabbed and was slowly dying. It was so much more than the fact I’d had to kill someone. I’d lost four guys who I’d been counting as friends… as more than friends. Family.”
Riley is furious and heartbroken with them, especially with Beck, and with a good reason…
In a way they kept her in the dark and then they used someone important to her to do whatever Delta wanted from her!!! And it was a shitty thing to do!!!
She just can’t get over their betrayal!!! She can’t trust them anymore!!!
And she is determined to keep them in distance!!!
Unfortunately, the guys are wanting to give her a lesson and the situation escalates really fast and ugly!!!
“What the fuck, Butterf-”
“Stop… Never call me that again. I am not some fragile bug with pretty wings for you to pull off…”
“You’ve been under their protection almost from the first moment you walked in here.
If that protection disappears…worse, if it’s clear that you’re not one of them now,
then the vultures will tear you to fucking piece.
You’ve been where all of them want to be, and they’re going to punish you for that. ”
And as Riley is coming closer to them for once again, new problems are starting to rise on the horizon…
They are living in a very shitty world full of secrets, lies, betrayal, death and power…
The odds aren’t with them, but they are a strong unit and they are determined to make something better of this power when it gets in their hands!!!
And they have too many shits to face and to discover and I’m dying here because i NEED the next book!!! Arrrrrr…
“Our parents are not good people, you must already have seen that.
They will stop at nothing to get what they want.
To force our hand. If they knew that you mean’t more to any of us than just the fifth seat of Delta, they would use you against us…
They would hurt you Butterfly. Break those perfect wings. Destroy your fighting spirit.”
Well, I understood Riley why she felt like that, but she was so damn stubborn that it got on my nerves!!!! So damn stubborn and that took a really bad turn for her!!!
She was surrounding by an enemy who was waiting the right time to hit and if there weren’t for the guys to watching her, she would be destroyed in many aspects!!!!
I loved her, but damn, girl!!! So stubborn!!!
“He probably doesn’t deserve you, Riley… But you’re exactly what he needs.”
“I’ve never seen Beck like this. Not ever. I think you might be the first thing he’s ever wanted to fight for, Riles. He’s not scared off by challenges. Your anger does not scare him either.”
Sebastian keeps being my favorite… Yeah, he made a shitty move in the previous book, but the man has real feelings for this girl!!! He could do anything for her…
Okay, he was also very possessive, but I’m not complaining!!! Bahahaha…
Riley was his and he was determined to make her see it!!!
“I never hated you, Riley. I feared what another female Delta heir meant. I feared what I felt. I knew you were going to have the power to fucking destroy me, and I did everything to stop you before you started.”
“Yeah, I’m like a wrecking ball. You ain’t gonna get rid of me until I destroy everything first.”
“Turns out you’re the opposite of destructive; you’re the light in the fucking darkness.”
As for the rest of the guys???
I loved them all, even though Dylan started to frustrate me!!! I’m afraid that he has wrong feelings about Riley!!!
Jasper was his usual goofy self and i liked that we found more about Evan!!!
I really would love to see their stories too!!! They deserve to have their own books!!!
“Isn’t that a bit dangerous?… Letting them know you guys care about me?”
And for once again, i was disappointed with most of the people in here!!! Their behaviors were unacceptable!!!
The Delta grown ups suck!!! All of them!!! And Richard disappointed me!!! Sneaky bastard!!!
And the worst of them all is dearest mama, Katherine!!! I hate this woman!!! Fucking psycho!!! I have the feeling that she had something to do with Oscar’s death!!! Arrrr… I wouldn’t be surprised if she did!!!
As for Dante??? I knew that he was hiding something, but hopefully, he will redeem himself!!!
And now, what will i do until August???? Arrrrrrrrrrr……
“You know you’re one of us, Riley… It doesn’t matter what you do, or say, or how many ways you fuck. You’re always one of us.”
I am a bit angry with this book and that usually happens to me when I’m dissapointed, lol. I don’t mean to be harsh in this review, but when I have high expectations after an amazing book one, I need to explain my reasons.
This book was did NOTHING to live up to the standards of book one. It’s well written and flows well but that’s it for me.
The characters were nowhere near as strong or dark or dimensional as book one. Riles was soft, whiney, boring, complacent, immature and down right aggravating. The boys were not strong and defiant, they blended into the background. Riles was so mad about the end if book one, EVEN THOUGH the boys warned her and explained things to her, she still got mad, still whines. THEN in this book, does the EXACT SAME THING to the boys. Um, double standard much?
Nothing really important happened in the book until maybe the last 20 pages or so, and still not enough to redeem this story. Also the misogyny and feminist comments are getting a little trite. They don’t fit the story and are just trown in as “oh its been a few pages, gotta bring it up again.”
I am highly dissapointed in this book, and I’m upset because book one was SO GOOD, I feel completely let down. Now, I finushed it, because I wanted it to get better so very bad and I am going to read book three because I still have hope. Having stated that (and without having read the last book yet) I think this book could have been left out and not have impacted the series. I might comeback and adjust this after reading book three.
I Found This Disappointing Compared To Book #1!!
(Read using Kindle Unlimited)
Broken Trust (Dark Legacy Book #2)
Events occur but there’s only some confirmation of things that were already suspected – No great revelations in this book, so it was really quite disappointing after the awesomeness of book #1!! Richard was a brilliant & creepy twist Catherine, well nothing surprises me to be honest!!
I *need* the other guys, especially Dylan, to find their ‘forever girl’s I truly hope they bring down all of the elders & make Delta legit in Book #3!!

Wow! The things revealed in this book had me sitting on the edge of my chair yelling at my kindle! So many secrets, betrayals and death!
The fact that Riley is still standing and able to function just proves the strength her character possesses. The authors have done an amazing job with the entire book! I loved seeing a different side of Beck during this book! Not to mention the other boys!
Definitely earning a spot as one of my favorite series really fast! I love a good romantic suspense book!
Wow! You know, when the first book is so good, you think the next book cannot possibly be as good, but then it knocks your socks off and proves you wrong! Well, that was the case with Broken Trust. Riley loses trust in her boys big time. They all let her down, but Beck did in the worst kind of way and she is not forgiving. But what happens without their protection at school? Mayham! She is picked on and bullied until it becomes dangerous!
Riley is as stubborn as they come and things are not always as they appear. There are lots of secrets abounding Delta and as more and more are revealed, the more Riley realizes she needs the Heirs as much as they need her. There is danger everywhere and her feelings for Beck have not changed, nor her feelings for Jasper, Dylan, and Evan. They are her family and she realizes it more than ever. Richard and Catherine may be blood but that doesn’t necessarily make you family. Family is in the heart .
This is so fast paced that you don’t want to look away for a minute! Something is happening to spin what you were thinking! Delta is so complex and Huntley is trying to move in! And then we’re left with a huge cliffy! But the last book is available now so you won’t have to wait to finish the wonderful trilogy!
Awesome continuation of the story. I love how Riley is growing up and maturing so much as she learns some tough life lessons. The guys are so hot and the plot kept me turning pages!! The ending is so unexpected but totally worth reading!
I finished this one this morning and I’m still thinking about what happened. Also, I don’t want to wait until August for the next one
“Broken Trust” starts pretty much where “Broken Wings” left us. Riley is really messed up from their betrayal and she’s pushing everyone away except Dante. However, Sebastian, Dylan, Jasper and Evan won’t accept her pushing them away and they play dirty to get back in her good graces. Their plan gets out of control and her life is threatened.
Riley is breaking down with everything that’s been happening. She’s hurt and mad, but still cares for them regardless. While giving them a chance to redeem themselves, she gets to learn more about each one of them. Their pasts are not as simple as she thought; every one of them has gone through some messed up things.
My mind was constantly blown with all the secrets. Apparently everyone has secres and an agenda. The bool ends with a cliffhanger and even more questions to be answered. I’ll be eagerly waiting for the next one!!
I thought I was speechless with book one in this series, but I was wrong. Book two, “Broken Trust” by Jaymin Eve and Tate James has left me with my mouth wide open. This book captured me from the first sentence. These ladies continue to amaze me with Riley and the guys. There is plenty of action, emotions all over the place, twists, and turns. The characters are outstanding and will draw you in to their lives and emotions.
Book three cannot get here fast enough. I would like to note as this is a dark romance there are some parts that are very dark but crucial to the story.
Unfortunately, this one missed it’s mark for me. After finishing book 1, BROKEN WINGS, I had high hopes and was living off the angst and drama from that book. The plot that was laid out, lent to such big potential. In this book, I expected there to be a deeper connection between characters, and I almost their “relationships” remained stagnant, in a sense, I almost felt a slight disconnect. I did love Beck’s possessiveness, but it was almost too forced, if that makes sense. And whereas in book 1, I LOVED Riley’s feistiness and bullheadness, she had true spirit, but I felt she deflated in this book, when she should’ve SOARED and showed these boys what happens when they betray her, but regretfully she didn’t.
There was also plot twists that seemed predictable and unbelievable at times. (Example-trigger warning-almost gang rape scene). Because of all these things, I found myself reading this book much slower than book 1. I will say, I DO plan to read book 3 because I DO want to know how this all pans out. I just HOPE that the authors bring me back to the feels I had while reading book 1, with book 3.
3 stars
Super addicting and difficult to put down! A definite must read!
This is the second book in the Dark Legacy series. It picks up pretty much where the first book leaves off.
I thought this was a brilliant book, but I was a little disappointed in it compared to the first book. We start to see some elements of “bully” that we didn’t see in the first book. That said, there isn’t a ton of it as compared to other books in the subgenre. For a hot second, I thought this might actually be turning into an RH, but no, nope, still trad romance. That’s not why I was disappointed, though. After everything that happened in the first book, and those events which lead to the bully element being introduced in this book, I really feel like Riley let them off too easily. I get there’s a lot of other extraneous things going on in the plot, but she is justified in being p!$$ed off. The guys certainly weren’t beyond redemption from the first book, but they were awfully close, and the boys who have everything deserved to learn how to grovel. I’m just saying. They even say in the book that she let them off too easily. I was also a little disappointed that, again, after the events in the first book and things that happen in this book, that she doesn’t push to start self-defence training or just training in general. She is now aware of the sh!t that goes bump in the night, and girl is sitting on the couch. *sigh*. These are quite picky things, but I so liked Riley as a character in the first book for her inner strength and sass and intelligence. Again, I appreciate that a lot happens in the plot (that I can’t say, because spoilers), and she’s shaken, but I wish she’d have found herself a bit sooner.
In general, the book is exciting and a lot happens. It’s pretty fast-paced and keeps you on your toes. There is a twist at the end. A few twists, actually. And yes, there is a cliffhanger. I don’t think it’s quite the “holy shiitake mushrooms, wtf” kind of cliffhanger we saw from book 1, but it is a good, ole cliffie. Can’t wait for book 3 to see what the end of this story will bring.
