The dramatic New York Times-bestselling adventure in W.E.B. Griffin’s Badge of Honor series about the Philadelphia police force.Having investigated his share of gruesome murders, Philadelphia Homicide Sergeant Matt Payne is beginning to think nothing can shock him—until the case of a young socialite’s death lands on his desk. The Camilla Rose Morgan he’d known as a teenager was beautiful and … teenager was beautiful and brilliant—how was it possible she’d jumped to her death from her own balcony? Her brother tells Payne she’d tragically been battling a lifetime of mental demons, and there is plenty of evidence of it, but still…something just doesn’t sit right. The more Payne digs, the more complications he discovers. Reputations are on the line here, and lives—and if Payne doesn’t tread carefully, one of them may be his own.

These books keep getting shorter and shorter. That said, I’ll always buy Griffin.
I like this author’s style. Enough realism with a well developed set of characters. It’s also a realistic key of large city police procedures. I enjoyed it and the rest of the series.
The worst book of the Matt Payne series.
Too many characters and going back & forth makes it a confusing read trying to keep up with the characters
Another great Griffin book!
I have read all but two of his books , and find really lacking. His work in the past was thrilling and I always pre-ordered his books. I am finished with his next releases as this was nothing like his previous novels.
This is the latest in the Matt Payne series. This one pretty much follows the pattern, until the last chapter. I admit I’m wondering what will happen in the next book, if there is one.
Below is my review from Amazon/Kindle (I have since finished reading it): “I haven’t quite finished reading Broken Trust (page 306) but decided to go ahead and post a review. After reading the previous book (Deadly Assets) I gave it a 2 star review along with unkind comments. This book is not much better, but after re-reading the poor reviews of Deadly Assets I have re-thought my review.
As mentioned in another reader’s review, W.E.B. Griffin does a fantastic job of character development and his stories have me laughing, crying and I have trouble putting his books down. At This point WEB IV doesn’t have that talent and leaves the WEB III fans severely disappointed.
A Possible solution would be for WEB IV to write his own stories; begin a new series with new and different characters to include (or not) as he sees fit. His readers will either like his stories or not, but he will not be judged by and compared to WEB III’s works.
While I think it’s commendable that WEB III mentors his son I find it somewhat deceitful that his name appear on the cover as the author when it is quite apparent that he had little or no input as to style or content!”
I’ve been a huge fan of Griffin for 30 years, and his books always deliver well developed characters, excellent plot lines, and in nearly every case each book picks up where the last ended, whether it’s military or police oriented. Every book is a 5-Star read.
This book has no ending—really part one.
As always W.E.B. Griffin wrote a great book you can’t put down.
Another great book in a series of excellent books. I highly recommend all of W.E.B. Griffith’s books.
Mr Griffin continues the Philadelphia police dept story and takes the familiar characters to unexpected places.
What happens when Sargent Payne of the Philly Homicide dept. who is recovering from a gun shot wound witnesses another shooting? This story will drag you thru the politics and corruption of the City of Brotherly Love. Are the men in blue held down in the performance of their civic duty? The throb of the big city will captivate you and make you wonder how does it survive. A must read for those who like realistic action.
Somewhat predictable but still entertaining.
Great read, typical Webb
Having read all the auithor’s book about this character, this book left me flat. It seemed he was rushing for an ending. Rate D+
Always a good read from this author
