What do you do when life is unfair, all hope is lost and God seems absent?Life does not always turn out the way we hope. It is often unfair, filled with hurt and rocked by disappointment. Even as Christians we find ourselves wondering if God is really there.Jeannine Bennett is no exception; she understands all too well the struggles of life that hit so hard they take your breath away and leave … breath away and leave you broken. But she’s also discovered that our greatest trials in life are always used by God for good, nothing we experience is ever wasted. With vulnerability, tenacity and humor, she helps us to recognize that brokenness is not the end of our story. God has a plan for each of us and it is beautiful. Between the pages of this book is a story that gives readers hope while seeing how God is always there with us. I enjoyed reading the author’s personal story and how she went through many trials. At a young age she experienced rejection which followed her through her adulthood. I cried when I read about how her brother was injured and became the main focus of the family. I can understand how she felt pushed aside at times.
One thing I noticed was how history seemed to keep repeating itself in the family. With divorce, alcoholism and depression the author was destined for failure. The most shocking thing in the book was the incident with her mother. Anger can overtake us sometimes and if we don’t know how to cope, it can end up causing split decisions that are devastating. I was sad that her mother had a hard life and saw a pattern of generational curses being passed on to others.
The author in her darkest moment realizes that God was the only answer . I loved how she slowly changed and found a way to forgive her mother. It is not easy to forgive, but when you do you are set free. The key element in this story is not only forgiveness but understanding that Gods has as plan for our lives. I liked the scriptures used and the questions at the end of each chapter.
I would love to hear her speak someday. Her story is powerful and shows how God was working in her life even as a child. Her testimony is healing as she demonstrates each situation she faced and how blessings came from it. God uses our trials to strengthen us, help us grow in faith and to learn to trust Him with everything. This would be a perfect book to use in a Bible study. Her honesty and compassion are tools that God can use to reach others who feel abandoned, hopeless and rejected.
“God uses every lesson to teach us and prepare us for things to come.”
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
The cover is gorgeous on this book. It drew me in and made me want to see what could make something so beautiful as a sunflower field. I love sunflowers!
This book takes you on a very honest and raw journey as you learn the story of the author and her journey of healing. Broken to Beautiful is available to all with the power of God and I loved reading her story.
While we might not all suffer from the same problems we all do have to deal with them somehow. And if we deal with them incorrectly they will rule us for life. This is why we need the healing power of God to help us overcome. I enjoyed reading about this particular woman’s story and seeing how she found healing.
In this book, you’ll see what is often referred to as generational curses. These things go from generation to generation and you can see them in lots of different lives but this book is particularly poignant.

Sometimes it is easy to get caught up in the idea we feel too broken to be fixed or that God can not use us. However, that is far from the case. Jeannie Bennett takes her readers on a journey including personal stories and testimony to Scripture references to questions to think about in each chapter. I found this book moving and uplifting. She illustrates how God has a plan for each one of our lives if we just allow Him to capture our hearts and souls.
I found the book one that deserves the reader to interact with it rather than just speed-reading through it. I felt I needed to have my Bible and a journal on hand while reading. So check out this book for yourself, especially if you feel broken or questioning God’s ability to use you.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
In this nonfiction book, the author shares stories from her own life without glossing over her mistakes and her trials. She vulnerably shares her pain, her struggles, and her joys in a way that others can relate to even if they have not experiences similar situations or the depths she did. The first twelve chapters cover the broken section of her life, and the last three cover how God transformed her experience into something beautiful for His glory. Topics covered include “Unbroken Chains,” “Deceit, Destruction, Death,” “Heartache Again?” and “Restoration.” The book offers hope and reassurance that God cares and He wants to help you, no matter where you find yourself. Everyone has a purpose, and the author’s testimony here illustrates that. Her writing style is easy to read, and the short book doesn’t take long to devour. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.
Jeannine Bennett lays it all on the open as she shared her struggles and trials in life. She truly bares it all and its awe inspiring and you can’t help but feel all the emotions as you read her testimony. The most important aspect for me is the way that she clings to God for everything. God is always in the midst of everything, using everything for good whether we think so or not. Even though I know that its always good to hear other’s stories to uplift you and get you into a deeper level with God.
I recommend this book if you want to continue to have encouragement as you walk closer to God. God is still ever present and He wants the best of us and for us despite the circumstances we may face. This would also make a great group study book as it has questions for discussion at the end of the chapters. I also loved the way the scripture verses were at the end. It makes it easier to find them without having to go back through the book.
I received this book from the author. I was not required to post a positive review. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
Broken to Beautiful: Brokenness is Not the End of Your Story is a wonderful read. Jeannine Bennett has a way to relate to her readers. It is in two parts and fifteen chapters. Each chapter are about five pages long and has the author’s personal journey, God’s Planned Outcome, God’s Holy Word (1 -2 scriptures) and Questions to Reflect On (3 questions for readers to answer). I would have loved to have added space to write the answers for those questions.
Broken to Beautiful: Brokenness is Not the End of Your Story will be getting four and a half stars from me. I would love to read more like this one by Jeannine Bennett in the near future. I highly recommend it for those who are in need inspiration.
I received Broken to Beautiful: Brokenness is Not the End of Your Story from the publisher. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
