Words written with feeling…
This was one heart-pounding read! Helena’s point of view from Forgotten, was heartbreaking in some passages but so strong in others. It felt like.. with each emotion, each struggle, each agonizing painful hurt bestowed on her tore at me. But on the other side.. you felt her love for Nick (Stephen) the depth in which their souls are connected. Their loyalty and passion for one another. How they are each other’s world, they truly breathe for each other.. helping each other survive in a place where darkness tries to steal their lives. Reading this book I felt nothing is truly “broken” that with a strong will anything is possible. And what happened at the end… I see a force binding these two that nothing will break and no mercy shown to those who try.
One of my favorite quotes: “I feel alive, so incredibly alive, luminous, glowing.. all of me is. For that moment, as he stares down at me, the world evaporates, and there are only the two of us in the middle of the road.”
Perfect words…
Broken details Helena’s experiences as a captive in Norton’s facility and the events following Stephen’s (Nick’s) carefully planned escape. Told in the first person, Sabre masterfully uses this POV to lure the reader into an exceptionally drawn world of Human villains, dead set on eradicating Others from existence through genetic engineering, deprivation, and torture.
Helena’s account is exquisitely rendered to the page with a tight plotline, brilliantly created characters, and a vividly painted backdrop. As always, Sabre’s genius radiates throughout the story, allowing the reader to lose oneself to the emotions Helena experiences as she evolves from one version of herself to the next.
*The novel does contain some content that may be disturbing to sensitive readers, however Sabre seems to take great care in blurring the darker elements of the story.

Review OMG!! Talk about an emotional rollercoaster!! I’m sitting here trying to put into words how I feel about this book and about this author’s writing. He puts his readers through an emotional wringer for certain. I hate what happens, but from the pain our friends ( they are no longer simply characters) become stronger! I enjoyed witnessing Stephen’s sense of humor. Helena’s strength comes through. Yes, she has doubts, but who wouldn’t? What I enjoy is that we are left with a feeling of hope! I think the lesson we learn is to NEVER give up, even when you think there is no way out! You never know what’s about to happen!
OMG!!! THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ!!! It wrapped me up from page 1. I have not put it down since I started it. Mason….. you did it again. Seeing things from Helena’s point of view is amazing. And the letters from Helena and Stephen, Brilliant. I can not wait for then book. Keep them coming Mason. You are so talented. I so excited for the next one.
Mason Sabre has outdone himself with his latest release. Broken had me reading late into the evenings making for some very tired work days but it was SO WORTH IT! I absolutely loved reading this story from Helena’s point of view and being able to understand how she spent her time being held captive. As always Mason’s stories will ensure the reader feels multiple emotions as you journey through the story. His characters feel as if they are longtime friends. You will shed tears, you will experience anger and you will feel pure joy. The ending was brilliant and proves how much a fierce woman Helena truly is. Be ready for a book hangover the size of Mount Vesuvius.
