Ruined. Tortured. Broken. What could have been the perfect childhood, turned into a hell that the devil himself would shy away from. I was forced to deal with an evil that would make the darkest of souls cringe. Lily Noel was scarred but beautiful. She was perfectly flawed and everything that I needed.Attraction bordered on obsession. Passion bordered on ecstasy. Addiction bordered on insanity.…
Addiction bordered on insanity.
Nothing could get in the way of our love.
Nothing…

This one will break you. It is beautiful and so very well written but also dark and depressing. This is one of those books that haunts you and the aftertaste lingers for some time.
But it’s also a book that shows that even the darkest of times can have light shine through.

This book deals with a lot of dark emotion. Past child and sexual abuse. May cause triggers for some.
Trigger Warning: *This book contains dark themes including sexual assault and past child abuse*
This was my first read by Ms. Walker and I literally have no words. I had to take a few days after reading this book to even begin my review.
This book was brutal and also beautiful to read and one that will stick in my mind for quite some time. Lucas Crane and Lily Noel are both broken and have scars that run deep. Lucas…holy cow did my heart hurt for that boy/man. What he went through as a child, just made me tear on up while reading about his past. Lily has no easy past, but is bound and determined to make thing better for her and to make her grandma proud.
My heart was ripped out on page one….and slowly, so very slowly did Lucas and Lily put it back together for me. The was one emotional roller coaster of a read! So happy that Lucas and Lilly loved each other – Scars and all.
I would definitely recommend to others.
4 stars for Broken Scars by J.M. Walker. This is my first book from this author but it won’t be my last. The plot of this book will leave you breathless. I had tears in my eyes through most of the book. Lucas has a rough start in life. He is covered in scars and tattoos , he is dark and seems dangerous. Lilly has a dark history also. Both of them are dealing with major issues but they could be what help each other. The story between them isn’t all roses. They have ups and downs. The plot twist is what had me intrigued, today it was unexpected is an understatement. These two thought they could love someone but what happens when they do. I don’t know what to say because I don’t want to ruin anything. Experiencing this journey first hand is what makes it so great. Broken Scars is the perfect title for this book. Before you read this book be ready for an emotional journey.
Rise again.
This will leave you breathless with tears threatening and agony on behalf of a stranger. It will make you laugh out loud with the absurdity of all that they are. They will make you swelter from the heat of their all consuming desire.
This story is oh so DARK and has so, so many triggers. Abuse, sodomy, porn, stalking, manipulation, assault, fire, PTSD, and death. It is also full of love, lust, angst, and passion.
Lilly Pad and Lucas consume eachother as they rise from deplorable ruins of the past and couldn’t be more beautiful.
WOW!!! I don’t even know where to begin with this book! Broken girl meets broken boy, add in some hot sex, dark pasts, jealous exes, and a feisty grandma, and you have one hell of a story!
Lucas and Lily are perfect for one another. Both broken and scarred by their past yet willing to not let the other one let their past define them or keep them from living. Their journey is not an easy one with the pasts clashing into the present. They must fight for what they have and what they truly want.
You always leave me speechless every time you write something. I fell for this couple right off the bat, they draw you in like no other and they keep you drawn in. But every time I read your stories I always get to the end and hope there is more but nope. But you always have a new story close in hand.
J. M. Walker is a new to me author. But, once I saw the eye catching cover and read the blurp that was provided, I just had to dive into this book. And let’s say I was not disappointed in the least. This book grabbed me with the prologue and didn’t let me go even after I finished reading. I will be looking for more from this author, especially if I get more stories like this one.
This book deals with a lot of dark emotion. Past child and sexual abuse. May cause triggers for some.
You have to read this! I am having a hard time formulating feelings into words for this review. There are soooo many feelings with this story. There is a haunting past that Lucas lived through, and survived. He copes with this day to day, with some days being better than others. One rainy night, Lily just drops in his shop out of nowhere. And these two have a connection that is incredibly intense. The kind of connection that is felt deep down in the soul. These two both have scars. Scars on the outside and scars on the inside. Some of these scars hide the physical wounds and there are scars hiding emotional wounds. These two are the epitome of love. Even when it’s the scary intense love that you can’t live without, these two fight and continue with their love story. There were times while reading this that I didn’t think I could go on as Lucas’s past unraveled, but he is a mysteriously sweet alpha and I had to continue to find out what made this man the way he is. And bless Lily for being the strong woman she is. These two have a love that will never end. This story is one that will stick with me for a looooong time.
Their pasts are not pretty but could a future together help heal their broken scars?
I loved both of these characters. They have worked hard to be where they are today. It took me a couple of chapters to really get into the story, but I’m glad I kept reading. There were so many twists and turns and it ended with an absolutely wonderful epilogue.
J.M. Walker is one of my favorite authors and I always enjoy the roller coaster ride of deep emotion’s. I loved the journey of Lucas and Lily. They have both come from ‘broken’ tragedy and come together to try and heal each other. It is a powerful story that I just jumped into with both feet. If you like heartbreak then you will like this one. I give it a 1 Million Star Review..especially the added extra’s at the end of the book. I do not want to give too many details..as I want the reader to sit back and go along for the ride.
A raw, powerful, brutal and beautiful love.
Raw, powerful, brutal and beautiful is how I describe Broken Scars, and JM Walker deserves every accolade that she has received for this book. It is a book that you want to race to get through, yet don’t want to finish reading. It was all that and more. And, the steam level is on super-heat because this couple were very physical in expressing their love.
One of the things I love most about heroes like Lucas is that in my mind, they’re not only heroes for surviving the extreme trauma that they been through, but live their best life that they can, giving to others who’ve suffered. How can they come through hell yet be as empathic as they are?
Heroines like Lily, come out of their corner fighting for the love they deserve and are strong enough to take on the most brutally broken of men who see only beauty in their women, and believe that they don’t deserve a love of their own. I just adored that Lily was as possessive as Lucas was, and holy crap, she was just as demanding.
This is that story, and I was absolutely held in thrall of it. 5 Stars!
This book is just WOW! There is so much to say about this great book: it’s well written, love the characters, I really love how these characters overcame their struggles, love love love their chemistry and their connection and their steamy sex scenes, so much going on with ups and downs, great storyline that was well thought out…
I could go on and on.
Although some aspects of their childhood was difficult to read, it brought depth and darkness.
Just take my advice, read it! You won’t be disappointed.
Loved it!
If you were looking for sunshine, puppies, flowers, and wine..Stop don’t read this! Because what you will get is is Gritty, Raw, Emotional, and Broken! This book took me longer to read than normal, because I needed breaks Lucas a damaged, tortured man, emotionally and physically, has moved on from the childhood that made him wish he hadn’t survived. He’s doing things to make others have a chance, but what about him? The nightmares and flashbacks haunt him. Lily damaged by and during the death of her parents, has compensated in dangerous ways. A chance meeting at Lucas’s tattoo shop changed the trajectory of these two lives. J.M handles abuse, addiction of all sorts and other with issues with aplomb. This masterful storytelling will stay with you for a long time!
*bends at the knees whilst trying to draw breathe……don’t mind me…over here trying to gather up all my emotions and organs that are spread seven ways Sunday. Oh I think that’s my heart….scoops it up off the floor. Dramatic much?! Oh holy fudgesticks, not!! This book consumed me from the very first page. What a heartbreaking, gut wrenching story of strength and hope over extreme pain and darkness. This book took everything from me but gave it back in spades.
Lucas and Lily have experienced their own versions of hell, nothing prepares you for that, but in spite of the darkness, they find each other in the light. But can they keep that light glowing when it seems there is so much stacked against them?
I am in total awe of this author!! My heart and my mind are still going a mile a minute!
And that bonus chapter at the end?….stick a fork in me coz I am done!!
Aww man. JM Walker just rips out your heart stomps on it several times then puts it back.
I absolutly loved Lucas and Lily!
Wish there would be more even!
Lucas is quite easily one of my most beloved hero’s, he just makes it so easy. He’s tortured and scarred. He has every reason to quit or become a mean menace, but he doesn’t. He had a good heart, a sweet spirit. He’s recovering, he’s succeeding against all odds. The chemistry between he and Lily goes beyond the surface and reaches deep into their souls. She is someone who truly sees him and I admire her fight and deep desire to be what he needs while still standing up for herself. Add in some grandmotherly humor, some angst, some danger, some peanut butter jelly sandwiches, a couple who doesn’t give up on each other and you’ve got one of my favorite books of year! Arguably my favorite from this author, which is saying a lot because she’s got some great ones.
