O.M.G. AMAZING!!! Mad, mad love for this book!!
More to come, but know that you need to preorder TODAY if you are a fan of the Broken series!!
UPDATE:
All right ladies (and gentleman), I need to tell you what I told K.A. Linde after I read this book. WOW, just WOW!!! I love this book so much. There is something about a girl having to chose between two boys that just hit my must read list. Plus add that this was part of her Record series, bring it!!!
Savannah Maxwell finally gets her own book!!! This book was so much more than I thought it was going to be!
Savannah is currently with her boyfriend/ fiancé until she comes face to face with her long time child friend and past hookup, Lucas Atwood. The chemistry between Savannah and Lucas is undeniable, but Savannah is loyal to her current fiancé.
As the story continues, Savannah tries to explore her feeling to see which guy is right for her.
I wouldn’t say that there are twists and turns in this book per say, but I will say that the emotion rollercoaster that K.A. Linde puts you through is torture!! Of course you all know that Savannah will get her HEA, but of course there is a journey to get there.
I love the Maxwell family. And I have to tell you all that Brady Maxwell is MINE!!! Sorry ladies. I have loved him as a book boyfriend for so long!! I love that we get to see each family member and the journey that they have had with their significant other. It made me smile.
K.A. Linde did her thing with this book and she nailed it!! If you have not read this series, stop what you are doing and read this series!!! I mean, like yesterday!
You know what else I appreciate? K.A. Linde and I clearly do not see eye to eye when it comes to political views (it’s in her books, it’s in her bio). But, the views are subtle and not in your face. I appreciate that a lot. It did not deter me from loving this series at all. In fact, I love this series so much that I had to buy it as a set (physical books) because the characters were such treasures.
I cannot wait for her upcoming book, The Lying Season coming July 4th!! I know that K.A. Linde will bring it and take us on another emotional rollercoaster!!
~ Review by Heidi Pharo
Savannah Maxwell!! This girl is something fierce. I’ve loved her throughout this entire series! I’ve begged for her story because I KNEW it would be a good one, full of angst and heartbreak, indecision, and final chances. This book is the epitome of everything I love about K.A. Linde’s writing!
Savannah has been with Easton for 3 years. Doesn’t mean she has battled with herself over Lucas Atwood the entire time, but she’s tried. She’s tried to give her relationship with Easton her all. But it’s difficult to do that with your childhood friend has repeatedly said that he wants you and doesn’t give you the chance to focus on your current beau. When push comes to shove, Savannah has a choice to make.
I liked each of these guys in their own way. I didn’t know much of Easton in the beginning, but his true colors started to show soon after. And Lucas, how can you not want her to end up with the life long friend who is willing to go to war for her? I’ve had a tough choice and I’m not even the one having to do it. So… Team Lucas or Team Easton? Who will win?
A steamy and angsty romance!
Broken Record is a sexy standalone in the Record series, and follows Savannah Maxwell. I have been anxiously awaiting her book, and Broken Record did not disappoint. Savannah is all grown up, moving in with her boyfriend in D.C, when her past comes crashing back into her. Lucas Atwood may have been her best friend growing up, but they have too much history pent up to still be close. Cue massive amounts of tension, holy moly. I love the angst, I love the characters, and I love this book. Definitely do not want to miss this one!
Gahhh… I have loved this series from the beginning… I read it thru the newsletter. But there is nothing like reading it front to cover!! Plus that epilogue is THE BEST!!! I couldn’t love this couple more!
Can’t believe the Record series is over!
This series has been on my all time favorite lists for awhile and what a fitting way to end the Maxwell family saga. We came to know the youngest Maxwell sibling in the earlier books but in Broken Record, it’s Savannah’s time to shine. She’s torn between what should be the perfect man for her and the one guy she can’t ever forget, her first love.
This is a triangle and both guys are great. Savi didn’t end up with the guy I wanted her to, but I enjoyed the story and think she did end up with the best guy for her, in the end.
We also get to see some old friends on this book, too and I really enjoyed the Maxwell family dynamic.
OMG how I’ve missed the Maxwell family! It’s been too long. This is Savannah’s book and I couldn’t be more pleased with it.
This is the journey of Savannah and her childhood best friend, Lucas. And K.A. Linde brings the angst with this one, but it’s so good! Savannah’s life is falling into place just as she had hoped, a dream job, a long-time boyfriend. Until Lucas reappears in her life.
The chemistry between Savannah and Lucas has always been there, but it’s now off the charts. Lucas is all the things you want in a book boyfriend.
There’s a lot of back and forth, and it’s steamy and romantic and oh so real. I adore the other books in this series, and recommend reading them all, but this can easily be read as a standalone. This is a top favorite of the year for me.
Wow! Wow! This book was just wow!
Broken Record is so freaking emotional! I loved it! Never did I imagine that Broken Record would be this great. It’s definitely a true masterpiece.
The storyline was something new and entertaining. And Savannah and Lucas were two beautiful and inspiring characters. They were just perfect and I fell totally in love with them and their story. The whole story is just utterly beautiful. There is so much in this book I didn’t expect, it’s adventurous and thrilling, heartfelt and passionate. I loved every second of it.
Savannah and Lucas’ story is just sweet, sexy, raw, heart-breaking and passionate. Oh and all the emotions in this book!! I couldn’t have been more in love with Broken Record!
Personally I’m a big fan of second chance romances, and with Broken Record KA Linde didn’t disappoint. Her writing style is unique; it’s hot, emotional and heartbreaking. And Broken Record is all that. It’s truly a masterpiece.
This slow burn, second chance romance is definitely a must read.
Can Stand Alone | Second Chance Romance
There’s nothing like stumbling upon a book that reels you in and doesn’t let go. That’s what happened to me when I started reading BROKEN RECORD by K.A. Linde. I haven’t read many of the authors novels (maybe 2 or 3) but from what I can gather she writes amazing angst. I was invested in these characters lives. I felt the pain, the pull, the chemistry, and the electric charge that sizzled. This book entrapped me and didn’t let me go. I love how the book felt realistic, how I could relate to the characters even though I didn’t necessarily condone their choices, and how confused I felt right along with Savannah.
Overall, this is a GREAT read and I know romance readers who like a little spice and a ton of angst are going to go crazy for it! I recommend reading the blurb prior to going into it though as some people may not like that the heroine is torn between two men but I also recommend reading it even if this isn’t something you really read. I think K.A. Linde does the book justice and makes readers think long and hard about following their hearts.
What a great end to the Record series that is one of my all time favorites. I have loved this series from the beginning and learned about Savannah through the other four books. I’ve also had the pleasure of reading Savannah’s story through K.A. Linde’s monthly newsletter for the past two years. Enjoying every moment of the twists and turns (oh the angst!) while rooting for Savannah and Lucas. As a side note, I have to say everyone woman needs a friend like Dylan! I thoroughly enjoyed reading Savannah’s story cover to cover!! Plus, that epilogue was the icing on the cake! Savannah and Lucas are one of my favorite 2019 book couples.
“Don’t think. Just do what your heart tells you. Be with me, Savannah.”
Savannah’s life is perfect. Recently graduated, she got the dream job and is about to move into an apartment with her longtime boyfriend. All exactly as she planned. But the return of Lucas, her former best friend, with whom she has unfinished and unresolved business, will shake that perfection.
Torn between Easton, the perfect and safe boyfriend, and Lucas, the person with whom she shared several moments and knows her like no one else, but who broke her heart, Savannah will face the biggest decision of her life. When everything she believed to make her happy begins to crumble under the weight of past secrets, rather than deciding between one of the guys, she will have to choose between facing the truth or continuing to lie to herself.
Easton represents the lull. Lucas the storm. One is an aspiring politician. The other a basketball player. With one, there is the promise of the future and the long-awaited happily ever after. With the other, the relationship is gasoline and match. Intense and explosive.
She loves them both. Each in their own way. Both have defects. And qualities. But the weight of the past will prove to be present, and before moving on, she must resolve what was left behind.
A romance about second chances, with a kind of love triangle, a bit of drama and some tough choices.
Lucas and Savannah though they love each other are toxic together. Savannah and Easton together slip into a rut, and with his jealousy and her mistakes, the fragile happiness they cling to, was no longer in existence. I hoped the three would find themselves as individuals and go their own ways. Apart.
Who will she choose? Just reading the book to know.

Finally we get to know more about Savannah. It was great to have snippets of her in the other books but this is the real story of how she chooses her love. Very reminiscent of Liz and her challenges. Love how we get to know every character better.
One thing about K.A. Linde is she never disappoints and Broken Record proves that with Savannah and Lucas. Two best friends that have grown into more but afraid to really see where it will lead. I loved that even though things may seem great for Savannah one kiss by Lucas and her life turns everywhere. These two share more than a friendship and seeing how it has grown filled will passion and love was awesome. The only thing I didn’t like was Savannah’s faith in believing Lucas has changed. Seemed Lucas throughout the book was trying so hard and she never gave him a chance like he deserved. All in all though it was good and K.A. Linde is one author you don’t want to miss.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
I did not know this book was part of a series when I started reading it. It’s a stand-alone so not reading the previous books did not take away from the story. And what a story!!
Savannah has a boyfriend. Lucas wants Savannah. They have been friends for years and he has always worshipped her. But they must go through the muddy waters to find their way. And what a trek it is.
K.A. brought so much into this story and had me locked in. She sent me on a journey of angst, discovery, passion, fire, and ice. Her writing was impeccable, her storytelling phenomenal and her hold on me permanent. Amazing author and great read!
This was a really easy and sweet read, quite straight forward. I have yet to read the rest of the series, but I can understand their dynamics easily.
Savannah Maxwell grew up as the daughter of a Senator and always had to make sure she was doing the right thing. Her family was best friends with the Atwood’s and she was always best friends growing up with Lucas Atwood. Yet the two blurred the lines between friendship and more but ultimately Savannah moved on and began dating Easton, a tennis instructor and then they move into together in Washington, DC.
When Lucas is drafted to the Washington Wizards, Savannah begins to wonder about how she truly feels about both Easton and Lucas.
Will Savannah have to decide between the man that she thinks is the right one for her and the one who broke her heart and she his?
This was a good read and I enjoyed it.
I really liked Savannah and I could tell almost from the beginning that she was happy with Easton but at the same time something was missing. He was a good guy but seemed to like control and it almost felt like he had to be right about certain things.
The night of Lucas’s graduation I was so proud of him for walking away from a dangerous situation but I could also tell that Savannah still cared about him but Lucas didn’t want anything to happen that she would regret. When Savannah told Easton I wasn’t surprised about the fight after and I think it was really needed.
I really believed that Savannah needed to find herself but I also agreed with both Dylan and Liz that she also needed to give a certain love a chance as she was comparing everything to it when nothing had ever really been official before.
I was totally on Lucas’s side after the article came out as Easton’s timing was too coincidental but at the same time I had to give Savannah so much credit for being honest and upfront about everything.
I love how far Lucas went to prove to Savannah that he was ready for a real relationship and that they were both grown up enough for it to succeed!

It’s time for Savannah’s story to be told in BROKEN RECORD. Savannah has been dating Easton for years now but she has always had a connection (and history) with her best friend, Lucas. What I think I loved most about this triangle was that you could see her with both guys (Ms. Linde has a knack for that). Easton is perfect, while Lucas is perfect for her. Savi and Lucas both grew up so much during their journey. I loved Brady & Liz’s cameos along with a bit of Clay & Andrea. Now I REALLY want to revisit the first three books. I really enjoyed both STRUCK & BROKEN but I’m missing Brady! I realllly would love a little glimpse into all the Maxwell’s futures. A bookworm can dream.
To say I’ve been anxiously waiting for this book to come out. Would be an understatement. I’ve been on pins and needles for what felt like ages. I’ve followed this author for a while. I’ve read a lot of her work and although my tastes have mostly geared away from her type of writing. I can’t help but to go back every time and enjoy. It’s like I’m coming home.
Savannah is a headstrong girl. She doesn’t take crap from anyone. With a name like Maxwell she has to be strong. But when left with a decision she needs to make it feels as if she has some growing to do.
Lucas is just as headstrong and always in Savi’s space. Stirring up trouble. He’s always known, from day one what he has wanted and he will do whatever it takes to get it. He’s the type of man you want fighting for you. So passionate and caring and just overall sexy as all hell.
Overall the book flowed really well. You were hooked and rooting for Savi to make to the right decision. You got invested in the characters. So much so that I had to place my kindle down to breathe every once in a while. You could feel the emotions come off the pages from these characters.
3.5 stars for – Broken Record – book five in the Record series by K.A. Linde. This book can be read as a stand-alone from the series but I highly suggest you start at the beginning with – Off The Record – and fall in love with my favorite politician Brady Maxwell! This was originally written via the author’s newsletter but is now available here with a sweet epilogue too.
Savannah Maxwell has finally graduated college and is set to move to Washington, D.C. for a coveted job in journalism. She is in a loving, committed relationship with her longtime boyfriend Easton and they have decided to move in together. Life is great for the both of them except for one little problem – Savannah’s best friend-turned-lover-turned-friend has unexpectedly come back into her life and made her question everything.
Lucas Atwood is finishing up his senior year at Vanderbilt and entering the NBA draft. With graduation looming for both him and Savi he knows it’s time he made his move. Four years ago they weren’t ready to be what the other needed but now it’s a whole new ball game. Lucas will stop at nothing to prove to Savannah that he is the man she should choose.
This was a good story with lots of angst and heartache. I loved seeing all the other Maxwell family members make an appearance too. Can’t wait to see what Linde writes for us next.
I had no idea when I started Broken Record that it was part of a series. It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book by this author and I was super excited to start.
First, I’d recommend you read the other books in this series before starting this. It can be read as a stand-alone but I felt like I was missing out on not knowing the characters as well as I could’ve if I’d read the other books first.
Savannah and Lucas have been friends for years but the timing has never been right for them to make something work between them. Now Savannah is settling down, she’s got her dream job, she’s moving to DC with her boyfriend Easton, she seems happy enough. Until Lucas gets drafted to DC too and suddenly Savannah finds herself with some tough decisions to make.
I adored Lucas. He gets Savannah in a way no one else does and even though Savannah frustrated me at times, I liked her too. The chemistry between them sizzled and I couldn’t get enough of the two of them together.
This is a good, angsty read and it’s definitely made me want to go back and catch up with the rest of the series and characters.
4.5 Stars
I have missed all these characters and was so excited to get Savannah’s story. It was so hard to not read the chapters when they were sent in the K.A. Linde’s newsletter. I am so glad I waited so I could read the book all the way through.
Savannah and her boyfriend Easton of 3 years moved to Washington together and things were always good as long as Lucas never came around. Lucas and Savannah have been friends since they were babies. They have this pull towards each other but the timing is never right.
Easton works for Savannah’s brother Brady. They have a great relationship as long as Lucas stays away, that doesn’t happen with Savannah and Lucas both graduating from college. Things get trickier when they all end up living in the same town. Who will Savannah end up with?
The Queen of angst has done it again! I love this book and was so glad to see these characters again.
