A split-second decision. A costly mistake. My skin has been marred, slashed, burned and bruised. My bones have been severed and broken more times than I can count. I’ve been told I was unworthy, fought through life seeing nothing but black. But it’s a pain I welcome. An ache I deserve.Until her.She is my redemption. The flicker of fire that dances in my darkness. Our love is effortless. Our love … redemption.
The flicker of fire that dances in my darkness.
Our love is effortless.
Our love is a lie.
A desire
A delusion.
A mistake
She should have known better than to entrust me with her heart.
I should have known destiny wouldn’t give me a second chance…at least not one I could keep forever.
The black cloud is back.
And revenge is the only thing it has on its mind.

This story was epic and had everything you could ever want in a book. It was a quick read but trust me it did NOT take away from anything. It contains an alpha Hero that is tortured by his past yet protective and can’t stay away from the heroine. It also has a sassy heroine that is stubborn and fights for those she loves. Micah has had a rough past growing up, so he keeps a lot of people at a distance until he meets Aubrey. They have an instant attraction and chemistry, but he fights it because that is his best friend’s sister. The more time they spend together the more intense their attraction becomes until they can’t deny each other anymore. I really liked the way the story was told, it goes back and forth from the past to present and it flows so well and you get to see both Micah and Aubrey’s prospective in each situation. The ending had my heart breaking so bad for both characters. This is book one and it ends on a cliff hanger, but I am dying to know what is going to happen next. I really hope the next book/s are released soon because the story telling was amazing.
This is a new to me author and one I’ll definitely be reading more from especially I need to know what happens next.
We are only finding out Micahs many layers and I can’t wait to find out the whole story.
Great start to a series
I. Need. The. Rest. Asap!
Okay, no words. Angst? Check. Tears? Check. Heart ripped to shreds? Double check.
Aimee Noalane brought out all the feels in me and she freaking left me hanging on the edge by the tip of my ever loving fingers!
I need the rest, like, yesterday!
Aimee Noalane is a new author for me and all I can say is, Why!!! This book had me gripping me grinding my teeth and gasping with emotions from the first chapter. Micah and Aubrey will tear you up and leave you burning from the inside out. I cannot believe it ended there!!! No. No. No.
Let me end my review by adding that Aimee Noalane is one author you want to follow.
Unforgettable.
Creative.
Gut-wrenching story teller.
Love your work!
I loved Micah and Aubrey. I adored the friendship Micah had with Vince and the also Vince and Aubrey’s relationship. This book was so much more than a romance, although it’s definitely that. I’m looking forward to seeing how all of these relationships will play out and how they go about healing after everything was left broken.
Broken Promises by Aimee Noalane will break you for sure. Because it has so much angst and heartbreak! Aimee’s words were piercing my heart, filling it with ache and making me cry ugly tears. This is one honest, raw and brutally tragic story which has only began.
I admit I have a thing for broken boys. Like a lot of you. And Micah is one of the most broken ones I have ever read. I shouted and cursed at the author silently for giving him so many wounds. The guilt, pain, regret and vulnerability this young soul carries is simply staggering. Everything is extreme and remarkable for this guy. His loyalty to his best friend and would be brother in law Vincent. His love for Aubrey. And so are his negative emotions. His devastating past has created a barrier around his shattered heart that was getting pieced together by Aubrey’s sweet and unconditional love. And then one night of fire and broken promises turned everything upside down. Micah is running because he cannot hurt Aubrey anymore even if it is killing him. But he cannot imagine the disaster that will follow his road. That ending literally made me scream in frustration. Because I need answers! I cannot believe Aimee left me there!
The story moves back and forth in timeline and that was necessary to express Micah’s personality and the changes. The chemistry was epic. It was sometimes dirty and nuclear hot with raw passion. And sometimes it was all about sweet redemption and hope. The relationship always had an edge of restlessness, desperation, intense craving and inner turmoil. That was equally beautiful and heartbreaking. The writing was brilliant.
If you want a story which will hurt you and hunt you for a long time, Broken Promises by Aimee Noalane is must read for you! The feelings will get deep in your soul and leave you in an emotional mess!
Received ARC for Honest review
First off… HOLY HOTNESS this cover is SO DELICIOUS! It should up everyone’s interest.
This story is filled with intrigue and steam. Aubrey and Micah (love those names) have an intense story to tell. This author is new to me and takes me on a magical journey through her storytelling. She knows how to weave some sexy throughout its telling. Yum. Love the firefly reference. BEAUTIFUL.
I did struggle a bit with the present and past element of this telling. I realize it was a way of revealing critical information as the story progressed but sometimes I felt confused. Ugh yes it might just be an issue with me as a individual reader. Lol.
This story has several high octane moments that have me on the edge but having said that, a couple times I thought the drama felt juvenile. Eek, yep these characters are young so it might be appropriate. Haha.
The end of this book (deep breath) I want to cry just thinking about. The flashback part wrecked me. You get a front row seat to the heart of the issues and why all the drama/miscommunication between Aubrey and Micah was so powerful between them.
Oh by the way… plan to be left hanging. WHAT?! Normally I am not a fan of that but this really is done well and meaningfully. Ugh. I can’t wait for the continuation of this story.
This is a good story that I give 3.5 stars. I feel that is definitely deserves to go on my recommendations list. Wink.
Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO
I’ve been waiting patiently for Aimee Noalane to come out with a new book since she hooked me in with her No Regrets series. Broken Promises was totally worth the wait! While I question whether or not she likes her readers because she totally leaves us hanging, the Micah and Aubrey’s story is completely worth the pain. One of my favorite parts in this book is when Micah is describing the firefly. It was so beautiful and had me swooning! Micah will make you want to throat punch him for being hardheaded and making the wrong choice, he will also make you want to hold him and tell him that everything will be okay and that he didn’t do anything wrong. Aubrey’s fiestiness and stubbornness makes her someone I would totally want to hang out with. It’s hard to write anything else without giving anything away, so I will just say that you need Micah and Aubrey to tell you their story.
Broken Promises was everything you could want and more from the start of a new series. It draws you in with amazing characters and a fantastic plot and then before you know it hits you right in the feels and you need tissues as you nurse the biggest book hangover of 2019.
Aimee Noalane is the master of complicated relationships, angst and broken bad boys you can’t help but love. She has delivered again in Broken Promises with Micah, the broken boy trying to escape his past, and Aubrey, his firefly who brings light to his darkness.
Advance warning this book ends on one of the best cliffhangers I have read. A week later I am still shattered and can’t wait for book 2 to find out what happens next.
Broken Promises is a fantastic read, definitely one of my faves of 2019. 5-stars
This story is amazing, the chemistry between Micah and Aubrey is wow! Their storyline destroyed me also but you will laugh, cry and also throw the device your reading on because it’s a must read!
My heart is in agony, I can’t breathe and it feels like time is standing still. Such a gripping, emotionally intense read. Can I hold my breath until book 2 comes out? Cause I NEED it!!!!
Holy Crap! I’ve been patiently waiting for this book. I knew it would be freaking amazing and I wasn’t wrong. I’m now demanding the next book. LIKE NOW!!!
Micah has officially broken my heart. You want to just give him a big ole hug and a slap in the face in the same breathe. I love him. But his misplaced guilt will break you into.
Aubrey tries her best but you can’t help someone that doesn’t let you completely in.
I’m not going to give much away other than go now, buy the book, READ IT!!!
Aimee is a new to me author, I do have her debut novel sitting on my kindle, but haven’t read it yet.
This book omg the feels, I went in blind didn’t read the blurb or know what it was about and oh freaking god, did i devour this read.
What can I say about Aubrey I loved her from the start, her relationship with her brother Vince is incredible, having two other brother’s myself, those two melted my heart.
Micah oh my the chemistry between the two of them was an inferno. Micah had moments were i wanted to smack him a few dozen times, then it went to me wanting to hug him tight.
5 stars doesn’t cover this, this is in my top 5 of 2019
Aimee Noalane is a master of angst! Make sure to have tissue for your tears! Firefighter with troubled past+ bestfriends sister = sexy trouble! I need the next book like yesterday
Noalane never disappoints. Broken Promises is so damn heavy with the angst, the drama and the emotion. I honestly thinks it is perfection. It’s one if my favorite reads of 2019!
I was so taken with Aubrey and Micah, right from the start. They are both so complicated, although Micah is a bit more than Aubrey. But, they work. They are so good together.
All in all, though, Noalane made a work of art with Broken Promises. The story is amazing. It’s a world I can see myself revisiting time and time again. And, I will never look at fireflies the same again, thanks to her. The way she describes those beautiful creatures is so deep and stunning.
Just WOW!!! Aimee has such a way of pulling you into her story’s, making you feel
All the angst, heartbreak and feelings that she weaves into the pages. This story is no different….
Micah has lived a tragic life and doesn’t feel worthy enough for Aubreys love. Aubrey loves him
With her whole heart, but maybe it’s just not enough as tragedy strikes again, leaving Micah in chaos.
Absolutely brilliant and heartbreaking and I’m dying for the next book
